Before: speculation runs rampant: will the new improved Charlize Theron that dismantled rugged journeywoman Catherine Bell make her appearance, or will we see the old high risk high reward fighter who never met a punch she didn’t like? Paul just as dangerous as ever, represents all the challenges Theron’s camp doesn’t like, but it’s a fight Charlize has to take.

During R1: Sharp exchanges punctuate a back and forth round as the girls slug and step with precision. In the final minute, Charlize shakes off a solid Paul hook, and comes back with a flush left of her own, and Alex’ legs buckle as her blue eyes turn pleading. Charlize edges forward, driving off her back foot with spearing right hands to the chest to put Paul on the ropes. Alex covers up as Charlize bangs her sides with batting hooks to the bell.

R2: Charlize has her opponent backpedalling, and Paul is caught repeatedly with the left hook whenever she stands her ground. A whistling short right to the chin rocks Paul onto her heels midway through the round, and she spends the remainder on her bicycle as Charlize cruises to a shutout.

R3: Alex settles down and lets her fast, accurate hands go this round, painting Charlize with slicing combinations. Theron won’t step back. And she gives as good as she gets for much of the round, but Paul the busier of the two.

R4: Alex really steps it up, showing a slick, Ivan Robinson look as she dices Theron this round with combinations. Charlize does a good job of covering up, but Paul’s blistering work rate insures that the third and fourth punch will get through. Shutout Paul as she pulls even on all cards.

R5; Hammer and tongs two way action as the girls sense how close the fight is. Charlize opens strong early, buckling Alex’ long legs with the left hook, then following through that pulverizing right to rock Paul back. Alex manages to keep her feet, and begins stepping back, luring Theron forward, and by the middle of the round, she is bouncing hard right hand counters off the blonde’s sturdy chin. Theron looks wobbly, Paul loks shaky—the two trade exhausted haymakers to the bell.

R6: paul seems to have the fresher legs this round, boxing Charlize from a distance, making the blonde pat with a sharp right counter throughout.

R7: Alex comes out and rips a triple left hook to the stomach to open this round, nearly breaking Charlize in half, and taking the blonde out of the round. Shut out for Paul, as she continues to circle, put her punches together and score in bunches.

R8: Charlize returns the favour, storming back to Alexandra’s body with both hands. Paul starts to wilt, and spends much of the round on the ropes, holding Charlize about the head and shoulders as Theron slugs away. Theron butts Paul in the lips the bell—unintentional of course.

R9: Alex roars out as the see-saw action continues, and she sails into the blonde with furious combination punching. Theron not hurt, but she can’t cope with the relentless output of Paul, and backs up under steady pressure, Paul never stops punching this round, looping a right to the gut, a left to the head, a right uppercut to the chin and so on. Charlize just can’t get off she stands almost in wonder this round.

R10: HUGE finish. The girls know it’s close, and Charlize comes out banging to Paul’s body, bringing out the wince and cringe from the brunette. Paul sucks it up and comes back with her hardest blows and midway through the round, she practically dribbling Theron’s head with pounding rights and lefts. Charlize slipping into a daze, returns fire by instinct and steps into a rising right to the sternum that stops Paul cold. Charlize goes on the attack, slugging and plodding forward as Paul goes glassy eyed, and the brunette is literally punches back to the ropes. The fight ends with the crowd on its feet, Alex punching desperately with tight combinations off the ropes. Charlize bombing with clubbing single shots to the body and head. The girls continue slugging mindlessly at the bell and referee intervention is necessary to separate them. The decision is announced as a draw, earning a round of boos from the crowd.

After: Replays show that a draw is justified, but Paul is the more relieved of the two as Charlize landed more of the hard stuff in this return engagement, Charlize more focused this time around, obviously more determined, but Hollywood may have found its newest rivalry as there is very little to choose between these two athletic warriors.
