Before: Ostrosky getting a two-fight deal with Maxim/Spike TV backing - it's a good opportunity for her to develop and get her training expenses picked up. "We're thrilled to be sponsoring Beth," says a smarmy network spokesman. "We think she's the next Tricia Helfer with those long lines and sleek moves - she's gonna be too classy for the likes of Sims."
Molly coming back nicely since a shocking loss to Alana De La Garza in the latter's debut - blonde has filled out, carrying more curvy muscle on her sleek model's frame - she's definitely the bigger woman coming in. "Beth doesn't have fighting muscle yet," says Sims in prefight, "she's still got that magazine-cover body which won't stand up to punishment. I'll hurt her quickly, take her out - the last thing we need is another long, lanky blonde cluttering up the lightweight division."
Sims in red bikini, white floral print at the hip (plundered from a battered Taylor Cole after the second loss) - Ostrosky in clean-lined black cotton Hanes fighting bra and panties.
During R1: Sims scolding Beth the jab, stepping her back, leaning into right hands - Molly trying to be the boss early. Beth loping, holds hands low when she's well outside, bringing them to her face as girls close. Sound of Molly's mitts peppering, slapping in brisk patterns up and down Beth's flanks - Ostrosky just soaking, falling off to the side - not offering back much as Sims lays down the law in the first.
R2: Sims with another muscular heat - jabbing Beth hard and well, forcing her to perimeter and stalking her with right crosses. Midway through, Ostrosky sliding to her left along the ropes, Molly kisses her a right off the teeth - Beth belted back over the ropes and nearly dropped as she skids wobbly-butt into her own corner. Sims piling on - going to the body with spanking rights and lefts, sliding her back (right) foot back as she pushes Beth upright, then sails in with hard KO right hands. Ostrosky face-in-hands, all willowy and gangly, but cute enough on defence - she's leaning into Molly, crowding her, not letting Sims extend on shots.
R3: Ostrosky shows her offensive wares this round. Lazy, loose hands, but sneaky - she'll pull a hook off her thigh to slap Sims across the face - fade backward, then bend forward with a looping right upside the head. Right at her cheek with the left dangling or vice-versa - Beth turning her shoulders, mixing up angles with a supple, lanky rhythm - it IS pleasing to watch ala Helfer, Allen, et al. Ostrosky able to land unlikely rubber-limbed rights to the body or head as a result of all the shoulder-shimmies and gangly delivery - she's almost got a built-in feint the way she'll start a punch with her hips and shoulders, THEN bring the fist around. Sims unhurt, but the unorthodox looks giving her some problems in the third.
R4: Sims back on top - she's much better schooled, more conventional with her dukes up - jab from the shoulder, short right cross, hook. Ostrosky always looks frail and willowy as Sims walks her down, but Beth's hard to tag clean - she's got that knack of leaning into the arc of punches, hunkering close behind her gloves, stepping to the side - Molly can outwork her and boss her, but can't really apply consistent, clean shellack. Beth also adept at ropey clinches - using her long limbs to clamp on and hold for breaks.
R5,6: Funky, back to back rounds, Ostrosky. Beth looping right hands to Molly's ear as Sims covers up - jabbing while backing up, luring Molly forward. Ostrosky will fire slinging rights while resting her left on her thigh, lick left uppercuts while dangling the right - she does everything wrong, but makes it work as time and again, Sims can't make her pay. Molly clearly frustrated - she likes a stand-and-deliver opponent like Taylor Cole - Beth's sinewy smoke-and-mirrors act is increasingly hard to figure. Ostrosky with a canny sense of when to clinch - neatly neutralizing several Sims' offensives before they can start.
R7: Shutout Sims. Molly goes to the body - showing her improved compact delivery to Beth's ribs and flanks - Ostrosky leaning forward, soaking it up, wilting in a little circle around Molly as Sims spanks away. Fresh, tart contact on fat-free flesh - Sims laying on lick like a champ, has her way with the upstart this round.
R8: Bodywork starting to pay dividends - Beth's mouthbreathing, stiffening, becoming more available to Molly's punching. Sims licking the waist and flanks, butting her shoulder hard into Ostrosky, bullying her - midway through she bumps Beth to ropes and goes to work. Same strafing lefts and rights that shelled Cole unconscious in back-to-back outings - Beth getting tagged, legs giving way - she's bludgeoned to all fours as Molly hops away with a relieved grin. Ostrosky takes 8, runs for her life the rest of the way (something Taylor would never do) - Sims can't catch her to close this thing out.
R9: Ostrosky showing the ability to backpedal, run at times, then stop, catch Molly coming in. Beth with big, dramatic sidesteps, getting around Molly with swim-moves off the ropes, pushing Molly behind her elbows - Ostrosky not fluid or practiced, but she's weirdly effective, staying out of trouble - and as Sims gets more frustrated, she becomes more available to timely Ostrosky hitting. Beth landing some belting, slinging rights while dangling her left, ducking and slipping the receipts - she bamboozles a flustered Molly Sims in the ninth. Sims back to her corner in a funk - telling her corner "this girl's like a freakin' tooth-ache!"
R10: Ostrosky showing good fitness - but Molly going away from the body, fighting angry, maybe letting the newcomer off the hook to some extent. Beth walking Molly into potshots, fitting punches onto Sims then slinking off to the side - Sims fighting angry, stupid - loading up and glancing her shots at best - effective jab nowhere to be seen as Mol seeks the KO. Ostrosky there-and-gone - she'll get caught one hard shot, then somehow smother the next or slide around Molly's flank - Sims just can't pile on. Meanwhile, painting, slinging, slashing blows from Beth - bandy armed punching not fazing Sims, but scoring in eye-catching fashion - Ostrosky caps a fine outing by taking the 10th round from Molly as well. Comes back UD10 Sims - five rounds a piece but knockdown gives it to Molly.
After: Sims chiding herself in postfight. "She's awkward, that's all - I got caught up in trying to chin-check her and I just should have stayed on her body and beat her up. Beth has no future in this sport - I know she won a lot of rounds tonight, but really - once girls get a look at her and figure her out - she's not strong enough to compete at lightweight." Ostrosky delighted with her effort - one of those competitive losses against a favoured opponent that looks good on any rookie's resume. Angie Harmon or Famke Janssen reported to be next.
