7 Dec 2007 Jennifer Lopez Vs Elisabeth Rohm

Page history last edited by Archer844 14 years, 11 months ago
Before: Liz Rohm once pegged by scouts as rating at an Erica Durance level - fetching blonde has had trouble realizing that potential, but this is a huge opportunity to get on track. "Lopez is the biggest name I've been in with recently," admits Liz, "maybe ever. She's got to be rusty: I'll totally take advantage of that and test her early. I've got to pound the paunch on her, shake that jelly a bit, because I doubt she's in fighting shape yet. If I can disourage her downstairs and get her backing up, I can definitely beat Jennifer." Lopez controlling her tempestuous side - promoters half expecting the diva to walk out on this contract, but so far so good. "I know I need to fight myself back into shape, and back into the rankings," says Jlo. "Rohm is a means to that end. She can't take my body punching, but I can't afford to be one-dimensional if this comeback is to be successful. Jennifer Lopez is the complete package - people can't just think of me as a come-forward Latina body-snatcher anymore: they're going to have to guard against EVERYTHING." Lopez in yellow tshirt tucked up to her breasts, fastened in the back - bare midriff - full coverage dark green trunks - adidas boxing shoes (no socks) - small black gloves - highlighted hair pulled into tight ponytail. Liz in baby blue tshirt tucked up to breasts/fastened in the back - navy trunks - hair in slick battle bun - small white gloves - adidas shoes no socks.

During R1: Lopez rusty: Liz quicker, slicker, on top aggressively. Spitting jab from Rohm - clockwise steppin': she negotiates Lopez to a neutral corner, then pushes the pace. Lopez: frowning; hands alternating between crossed arm (with elbows out to either side, warding off blows) or earmuff (as she leans forward). Rohm: solid stance, competitive frown; prodding jabs at Jlo's defences, setting up strong, strafing right hands. Rohm coming back with hooks, taking Jen in her tummy, right shoulder, or chin - Liz maintaining her distance, not falling in with her punches - good balance here. Extra vexing: Rohm's getting a straight right hand to Jen's forehead - Lopez really startled whenever it lands. Jennifer shelled in the corner - she's bobbing, blocking, not doing much - down the stretch she avoids the shutout with some swinging rights to Rohm's midsection to finally back the blonde off.

R2: Lopez wakes up. Legs livelier - she's steppin' left with Rohm - girls rotate crisply clockwise. Jen scowling, jabbing stiff, keeping her right hand at her cheek as she prods Rohm's breasts, mouth and tummy hot poke. Liz shying away, having a much harder time penetrating Lopez' sturdy blocking defences. Rohm's legs keeping her off the ropes - fight stays more or less midring - but Lopez the aggressor, crouching forward, starting to pound blonde ribcage and waist with authority off the jab. Jen getting a sidearm right short n' clouting to Elizabeth's left bicep/breast region - flat-knuckle impact has blonde grimacing at Jen's heft.

R3: Good two way scrap developing. Lopez weaving forward behind spitting poke, looking to crouch close, bang body both hands. Rohm a little leggier, more of the boxer in comparison - Jabbing as she's pivoting, trying to deny distance. Liz counter-attacking in spots - very effective. At one point, she doubles up the jab to freeze Jlo; steps in nimble, dips the left shoulder, picks Jlo up a tidy little left uppercut; steps out while bouncing a tart jab off Jlo's startled face; pivots right, hooks Jlo's left eye for good measure. Wonderful stuff - just enough bite to keep Lopez from getting off. Rohm also feinting, then locating Jen with that sturdy straight right lead off the shoulder to the Lopez forehead - very disruptive, Jen's timing baffled when she gets pre-empted that punch.

R4: Lopez' educated footwork starts coming together: she cuts off the ring, forcing more toe-to-toe exchanges. Result is crowd-pleasing trade - girls baring teeth, bending at the waist, clouting back and forth in combination at relatively close range. Hard, taut spank as girls take turns getting off in thudding twos and threes - small gloves pelting off heads and shoulders, or digging thick to waist and chest. Lopez establishing her hook downstairs, ringing it off ribs and liver; Rohm dippin' n' diggin' that little jolting left uppercut to chin. Liz very tidy in combination - short-punching, economical - but Jen's weight of shot starting to tell. Jen able to edge in close, park that left hook in behind Elizabeth's right elbow: Rohm just can't concede that punch if she wants to compete tonight. Lopez working over Rohm's breasts, finally backs blonde up late: round finishes to the sight of Jlo squaring away to punish her girl against ropes for the first time.

R5: Jlo takes back to back rounds - forcing Rohm to fight nearly non-stop toe-to-toe. Credit Lopez' under-rated footwork: everytime Rohm wants to disengage - Jennifer's stepping-with or cutting off the ring economically - using the jab to maintain contact and close. Rohm pulling elbows in, moving her head - she's looking for short uppercuts off her bobbing - trying to dip in and out on widespread legs. Jennifer munching her fair share of uppie, but taking it well - focusing on the Rohm ribcage and breaking blondie down this round. Elizabeth grunting, grimacing - goes to ropes again: she's a helpless vixen, just earmuffing up down the stretch, taking withering fire as Lopez crowds close, bumps the left shoulder/extended left elbow and cranks up those hooks!

R6: Lopez hurt Liz last round, pours forward with aggressive, scooting footwork to get back to blonde chest. Lopez clubbing tight-arc wide punches - getting close, dipping side to side, pulling close-cropped shots into Rohm's throbbing torso. Liz grimacing, backing up - she's being shook-and-moved by Jennifer's heavy hands. Middle minute - Liz against ropes, bobbing, weaving, rolling - Lopez squaring up, using her brawny left shoulder to bump, then hooking off that. JLO GOES DOWN! Rohm with a gorgeous little left uppercut again, picks up Jennifer's chin, unhinges her Latina knees. Lopez stumbling, goes to all fours, face-first at ropes - blinking out in astonishment at roaring crowd. Creaky 8, Jlo - Rohm hard eyed, steps-to - and JENNIFER WON'T HAVE IT! Lopez snarling, bulling her way forward off the ropes: sensational walking barrage of lefts and rights drives Rohm length o' the ring, slamming her woozy to far ropes. Jennifer relentless - teeth bared, head lowered as she plows wide right/left roundhouses to midsection and flanks, shelling poor Liz. Rohm aghast - right under her chin, left across her body: she's just wilting into ropes, taking a terrible thumping at bell.

R7: Lopez stronger after both girls get rocked in the sixth - she trades stiff jabs midring as Rohm looks to box. Right hand Lopez: blunt little offering off the shoulder as she leans in - kisses Rohm's chin, jerks her a quarter-turn right: blonde so focused on Latina left hook, the right hand has Liz stumbling. Ropes: Liz hitting hard, head whiplashing slightly: Lopez back to the body thick and bashing - vicious hooks and roundhouse rights beating the breath from her foe. Liz shabby - breaking down: she's sitting in ropes, elbows in, just trying to ride this out now, but Jennifer's CLOBBERING away to victory. Lopez seething, bumping her girl with violent left shoulders, or propping her the extended left elbow, then clubbing away short hooks, head and hip. Murderous right hands clang against blonde jaw and temple - Jen just jammin' in off her hooks, then pushing/bumping slumping Liz back into position. It's all too much - Rohm falling apart, getting pummelled - ref moves in to cradle her to safety as Jennifer's just going to town. TKO7 Lopez.

After: Good bashing assault from Jen once she warms up, but pundits remain unconvinced. "We've seen this before," says one Celebrity Ring commentator. "Jennifer's got amazing talent for the game - she can be as good as she wants to be - but will her temperament allow her to stay with this comeback? Will she start pricing herself out of fights and pouting on the sidelines again, or will she fight her way into contention and put the fans first? We just don't know. She's pretty, she's very different for the lightweight ranks and she's a big name - but the clock is ticking and even Lopez can't win that fight."
