Go back to Rachel McAdams vs Neve Campbell

Posted by Foxfire Boxing on 12/8/2007, 5:36 pm

Having finished her triumphant declaration, Neve Campbell paused for dramatic effect. In this moment of silence, the woman she was keeping close to her hip by an encircling arm, suddenly spoke.

"You done now, Neve?" Rachel asked with surprisingly levelness given the physical and emotional trauma she had just been through.

Neve eyed her curiously: "You have something to say?"

"If you'd had the least bit decency I might have congratulated you. You beat me three times in a row fair and square, For a lot of fighters that would have been enough, but I listening to you rant and rave, I can see it wasn't. You don't have to make false claims: the Mountees broke up for reasons of our own and I'm sure that's why Tank Enterprises broke up. Don't you go taking credit for things you didn't really do. It's beneath you," Rachel said, her voice gaining strength as she went.

With that, Rachel unexpectly twisted free of Neve. She stumbled into her own corner where Virginia Madsen, Elisabeth Harnois and Jennifer Garner stood there offering shelter from further Campbell actions. Rachel turned and faced Neve.

"Lots of luck with the rest of the division, but don't think I'm going anywhere. You beat my body tonight, not my heart, and I'm going to be back. Just remember that--I'll be back," Rachel said, though the resolution in her voice was undercut by the way she swayed on her legs. Jennifer and Beth moved in quickly to support her.

Neve stared at Rachel and said quietly: "You come back, I'll still be here. We'll see what happens, but in the meantime, I've got bigger plans."

Rachel nodded, but then her tired legs finally buckled and she sagged. Virginia and Jennifer steered her to her stool.

"See you around," Neve said simply and headed for her own corner. (BRUNETTE!'s photog catches a dramatic shot of Neve striding away as the exhausted Rachel sprawls behind her on her stool as Virginia, Beth and Jennifer hover over her in concern. "THE VICTRESS AND THE VANQUISHED" says the caption).

(Fear not, Auburn Avenger fans, Rachel is down, but not out. She will be back).
