Angel did her part: showed up in shape, triceps and abs visible on a sleek bantamweight frame; boxed smart behind a hard jab, mixing it up courageously with the younger, stronger blonde when necessary; got stopped after Brittany's relentless attacks accumulated to unacceptable levels.

Daniel was her usual effervescent self, tasting some hard Angel right hands in dropping the first and fourth rounds, but shrugging them off and proving the old adage: if you can't hurt Brittany Daniel, you're in trouble. Entire fight boiled down to how long Vanessa could keep Brittany at arm's length before the blonde got into combo-punching range and tore it up to the body. Brave, but unable to keep Brittany off her chest, the springy-legged Angel nonetheless acquited herself quite while, using the ring, drilling Daniel as the blonde bore in and creating some suspence: it seemed Brittany must prevail, but the going wasn't as smooth initially as most had expected.

In the fifth, a rip-roaring jug-mugging pounded Angel into stupor at the ropes and finally, her chin went on sale. Daniel launched a devastating 20 punch salvo to batter Vanessa along the strands, finally bludgeoning the staring cougar to her back parallel to the ropes along the apron.

For Daniel, a satisfying beatdown, showing the tremendous offensive firepower and finishing kick that papers over a multitude of fundamental sins elsewhere in her game. And wither Angel? Vanessa's a fairly well preserved cougar who hasn't been ridden as hard as a lot of other warhorses - expect her to get work as an 'opponent' or sparring partner for some of the well-heeled names in and around 120.
