Before: Classic crossroads bout--Diaz looking to impress to force a showdown with Theron at the top of the blonde heap--Carpenter looking to halt the skid that’s seen her look vulnerable over the last few weeks. Charisma says she can box with Diaz, but she’d be well advised to keep the action close--Cameron too classy outside. Diaz in pale blue bra and panties, Carpenter in black push up and red swim trunks. Diaz pursing those luscious lips all through the stare down, trying to make eye contact as Charisma demurs.

During R1: Cameron starts out with a blistering run and run, skipping left while popping a stream of jabs onto Charisma’s face while the brunette flounders. Midway through the round, Diaz has Charisma stumbling forward--the blonde dips with the right hand direct to Carpenter’s mouth. Charisma stunned, takes a knee, and gets up all blinking and pouting. All Diaz the rest of the way as she stays outside, circling and sticking to the bell.

R2:  Cameron fighting with supreme confidence, grinning and taunting her foe while bouncing backwards, clockwise behind that opened handed jab. Charisma pre-empted, covering up, just isn’t getting off, and she follows Diaz all around the ring in a vain attempt to cut the blonde off. Another shutout for Diaz who smiles, shrugs her shoulders at the crowd in a Jordanesque “it’s too easy” gesture.

R3: Diaz looking to hrut her foe, sets down and bits into Charisma’s face with vicious combinations to open the round. Carpenters guard shredded as Cameron’s right slashes down, while the left loops up open-palmed into Charisma’s chin. Brunette hunching over, taking ripping bombs, and Carpenter goes to all fours to take her second 8 count. Diaz all smiles as she closes, jabbing at Carpenter’s belly, then stepping back as the brunette covers up on the ropes. Midway through the round, cat and mouse continues, but Carpenter gets off a nice short counter left hand to the temple, catching Diaz reaching in and the blonde reels back sleepy-eyed. Carpenter stepping in, bangs hard left hooks across Diaz ribs, splashing pain on the blonde’s face and Cameron turns away clutching her ribs to folds to her knees. Down the stretch, both girls vandalized by each other, bang away with long armed bombs, with Diaz suffering much the worst of it as Carpenter beats her up against the ropes. Vicious slugging rounds rends with both girls glaring--Diaz smug expression replaced with flushed face, heaving chest.

R4: Both girls amaze by coming out with blistering pace despite energy spent in the third. Diaz looping  the left from the side, then pounding the right hand in hard and straight to the center of Carpenter’s forehead, has the brunette woozy early, then busted up as the combinations begin to flow. Triple left hook on Charisma’s mouth leaves her staggering, and the banging right hand off the head puts her on her butt. Carpenter up at 8, doggedly dips down and cranks hooks as Diaz looks to finish, and once again finds the blonde hittable as she opens up. Banging hook to the teeth stuns Diaz, and Carpenter folds the blonde up with a spanking straight right hand to the solar plexus. Diaz down, takes 8, and comes up mouth breathing and running to the bell.

R5: Diaz now deadly serious, able to fight the first minute on her toes to get Charisma following, then going flat footed to hand hard combinations. Charisma leaning in behind her guard is getting tagged by that rising left hook, and midway through the round, Carpenter goes wobbly butt from the sheer accumulation, Still, down the stretch, Charisma sucks it up, and bangs hard to the blonde’s body to force Cameron to clinch the bell.

R6: Charisma gets after the blonde’s firm torso with heartbreaking determination--bashing her fists against ribs and tummy as Diaz crumbles around the ring. Diaz desperately hurt, buckling at the knees--and Carpenter is resolute in keeping in close, banging one-twos, then bodying up to push Diaz to the ropes. Setting up over Diaz’s right shoulder, Charisma chops with little double left hooks to the cheek, and digging right hands to the sternum--forcing the blonde breathlessly to her knees with under a minute left. All Charisma to the bell, as Diaz swoons on the ropes, clinching weakly as she looks only to survive.

R7: Cameron looks exhausted, fading to the ropes, and waving Carpenter in, but as Charisma obliges--Diaz exploded, sitting on the ropes and blistering Carpenter with rising lefts and rights to the breasts and chin, then spinning off the ropes as the stunned brunette pitches forward onto them. Diaz puts together the best 2 minutes of her career, beating Carpenter to the verge of a stoppage on several occasions, only to see the brunette slide along the ropes and gather her wits for the next onslaught, Crowd roaring as Diaz whips her long arms in vicious curling arcs, but can’t put the plucky brunette down, and in the final minute, Diaz is shot. Carpenter, groggy, staggering with punishment, rests her head on Diaz shoulder, then jerks the hook to the blonde’s body, causing Diaz to gasp and retreat. Carpenter going body, body, body with slugging lefts and rights, turning her shoulders into the blows and forcing Diaz to the far ropes. Cameron sobbing in pain, clinches at the bell, as Charisma nearly collapses from damage, exhaustion, herself.

R8: Diaz looks shot, but Charisma wary this time, moving in to body up, but clinching defensively rather than slugging with authority. Cameron not punching, content to pull Charisma’s head down, and hold--Carpenter the stronger girl inside, pushing Diaz around, getting off the odd slugging right hand across the body, dominates a much slower round.

R9: Diaz back on her toes, hands low, looking Ali-like as she backhands the jab, then pops the right hand while moving backward. Carpenter’s head rocking back, and she’s hurt as Diaz tees off early. Final minute owned by Charisma as she HARMS Diaz’s ribcage with bruising full bodied right hands, left hooks while Cameron lolls ropeside.

R10: Diaz boxing early, pushing off, catching Charisma coming in with looping right uppercuts, but Carpenter soaks it up to put together a nice, if fatigued final minute. Charisma sends Diaz reeling to the ropes wih a tepid right hand on the cheek, and the exhausted beauties slap at each other with tired blows to the bell, Close decision comes back: Unanimous duke Cameron Diaz.

After: Girls stare in wonder at each other at the final bell as each brought the very best out of the other in this one. Diaz scraping out the last 2 rounds hands Carpenter an agonized defeat--one that will stay with Charisma for weeks  as she tries to sort out what else she could have done. Diaz come-back looking good as she puts down a very good brunette contender.
