Results: Simguy Writing: Archer Emma Watson again squares off with another veteran fighter in Virginie Ledoyen. “I feel I am steadily improving, I came close with Mila Kunis, and closer with Kristin Kreuk (it took her 3 extra rounds to beat me). It may be a hard school but these older women are teaching me what I need for ultimate success in the FCBA.” Virginie Ledoyen not impressed: “All she is doing is getting herself some hard beatings. I fail to see how you can learn anything from that. Oh well, if that’s what she wants, I’m perfectly willing to give to her.” Emma in pink stretch sports bra top, pink bikini bottoms, small black gloves. Short auburn hair. Virginie in powder blue bikini with small darker blue gloves. Virginie’s hair in tight battle braid. During R1: At the bell, Virginie Ledoyen charges across the ring and unleashes a furious blitz attack on a surprised Emma Watson. Emma driven back into her own corner and subjected to a furious, pounding series of haymaker lefts and rights, mixed in with chin lifting uppercuts and straight-on rights to the face. Emma struggles to escape, moving to her right she manages to escape the turnbuckle, but is thoroughly scoured along the ropes. Emma seems too shocked to clinch, finally manage to cover up gloves-at-head and endures the onslaught. Many times she her legs tremble and looks to go down, but she somehow manages to use the ropes to stay up. Bell rings and Emma is still somehow still standing. Virginie steps back as the ref moves in to ensure no after the bell punching. Look on Ledoyen’s face is a priceless mixture of amazement and annoyance as Emma somehow totters passed on her way to her stool. Virginie finally shrugs and goes to her own corner. She gave the younger fighter a terrible beating and clearly anticipates finishing the job in the next round. R2: Virginie comes out strong once again and inflicts more punishment on Emma, but now Watson is able to pull together her defense to block more and more of the incoming. She gets her jab going as well and, sure enough, Virginie starts to slow down. Emma now able to start landing some uppercuts, hooks and crosses of her own. Still Virginie is dominant enough to win the round, but Emma rallying. R3: Having won the last minute of R2, Emma picks up where she left off by winning the first minute of this round . She is landing solidly to the Ledoyen tummy and flanks, then adds Virginie’s jaw the mix with a couple of quick combinations to the head. That’s two full minutes of the fight for the young British boxer, but then the Frenchwoman is shaken awake. She clinches to break up Emma’s momentum, then dances away forcing Watson to chase her. Virginie then lures Emma in and works her over hard in close. Emma stands and fights, but the older man clearly regains the initiative. Still, Emma’s really combative in this round and shoots Virginie a defiant look after the bell. Virginie scowls, she’s not amused. R4: Virginie now shows her class. She doesn’t rush at Emma, instead showing relentless patience as she takes Watson apart with her well-tuned jab. Emma’s head rocked back again and again, then as her guard goes up protectively, Virginie works Watson’s tummy driving in some solid uppercuts to stagger the younger woman. Emma hangs in but she is looking forlorn. Virginie heartless as she continues the demolition jab to the bell. R5: Emma Watson isn’t giving up. She goes out and lands hard to Ledoyen jaw. Virginie has to cover up, clinch and work Emma’s flanks while they are locked up. Ref forces them apart, but Emma goes right after Virginie. Ledoyen forced to repeat the defensive tactics. Emma tries yet again and once again Virginie able to put down the British uprising. Virginie then forced to go over the offense herself to keep Emma in line. Virginie’s scowling, apparently not so much from the threat of Emma Watson, as being forced to put so much energy into keeping her in line. R6: Virginie attempts to take a break this round, but it’s a mistake. Emma immediately goes on the offensive. It’s nothing fancy, she just gets in close and works the Frenchwoman’s body with a steady, pounding pace. Emma circles her opponent, forcing Virginie to walk around with her and take more body shots. At the bell, Emma looks pleased at winning another round, but Virginie’s scowl is even darker. She getting very annoyed with the persistent young Englishwoman. R7: Virginie Ledoyen comes out and it quickly becomes apparent that she has gotten her second wind. Emma has come out aggressively, but Virginie starts punching with her in free exchange of blows. The Virginie’s punches landing more accurately and with more power. She maintains the pressure, methodically breaking Emma down and by the final minute Watson’s got nothing left but pluck. Virginie drives her along the ropes really lumping up Emma’s cute face and hurting her body enough to force Watson to hunch over in evident agony. Emma’s gloves drop down exposing her head to shot after Ledoyen shot, it’s snapped back and side to side alarmingly. THE REF JUMPS IN! Emma sags into the official’s arms as Virginie raises her gloves in triumph. TKO7 Virginie Ledoyen. After: "I am sending Emma back to Hogwart's" Virginie quips in postfight. "She needs a little more time in class, doesn't she?"
Watson beaten but not dismayed...many observers impressed by her toughness in surviving not only that R1 blitzkrieg, but with her overall defiance and stubbornness, despite absorbing terrible punishment. Rumors say Watson may now be willing to take on younger fighters as well as rival A-list names. The names of Demi Lovato and Jamie Lynn Spears are flashed around FCBA circles. Foxfire sources say: “We’re seriously considering her for Demi Lovato.” Front Street less talkative about a possible Emma/Jamie Lynn match-up. Still this is progress for Emma Watson, though some skeptics want to see her start winning before they will jump on the Watson band wagon.
