Before: “I’ve always said I thought the top 3 girls at bantam were me, Evangeline, and Jaime,” a happy champ beams in preflight. “I’ve taken out Lilly, now I’ve got a chance to put down Jaime, and really cap what’s been a magical year for me. This is huge--this is what I’ve wanted all along: a showdown for all the marbles to push me to my limits!” Pressly sporting a “2 HOT 2 FAIL” Tshirt at the podium: she’s feeling the gunslinger vibe as hardcore fans are really zeroing in on this fight. “Missy’s overdue for a beating,” Jaime says. “it’s time to pop this bubble, and I’m definitely the girl to do it. What she brought to Neve and Evangeline won’t be enough against me. I’ll expose this girl, take the belts, and stop the Missy-hype before it gets even more out of control than it already is.” Missy in rich cobalt blue bikini with ring connections jugs and hip; white gloves; hair loose but bangs tied up off her face. Jaime in navy bikini; white gloves; hair in shiny, short, sassy fightin’ bob.

During R1,2: Cautious feeling out--plenty of respect. Jaime in closed stance--left shoulder pointed at Missy: left across the waist; right at chest. Missy dukes up/elbows in--nimble to her left as she spits jabs. Jaime changing levels--stooping at the waist to reach left jabs into Missy’s midriff--then scooting out of range. Pressly occasionally darting in, getting off in batting flurries: Missy calmly blocking on her arms, then looking to answer back hooks as Jaime’s disengaging. Inconclusive, but Missy’s generally coming forward, trying to press the pace. Missy also with cute footwork: she’ll drop a one-two straight up the middle--slide back a step (dragging the front/left foot), then drop her second one-two as Jaime’s trying to advance. Nice.

R3: Missy continues to dictate--picking Jaime up with interceptor jabs--starting to steer and channel the blonde rushes. Pressly frowning, trying to curve-in from angles--but she’s repulsed by crisp Missy jabs and one-twos, then walking down as Peregrym nimbly hops forward on counter-attacks, Pressly roaming the ring, slipping and rolling shots--but she’s starting to get touched as Missy’s finding the range, Down the stretch, Missy strokes Jaime a tart one-two on the face; slides back to invite Jaime in, then; bangs away one-two on Pressly’s face as Jaime’s trying to retaliate. Exquisite distance-management and timing from the champ--sends blonde to her corner scowling in confusion.

R4: Missy’s jab a harsh mistress early--pounding at Jaime’s face, repulsing Pressly attacks and beating her into compliance. Jaime flat footed by the minute mark--hands up, weight on right foot: she’s a perplexed beauty, uncertain how to go about breaking down her brunette, Missy over to offense--stepping in that heavy jab--bringing the jitt back to her lips, keeping her  elbows in close to her body. Missy rotating her torso slightly after throwing, always moving her head: not a lot of movement, but it’s all effective/efficient. One-0two splits Jaime’s mitts, knocking her face back; hook chaser toggles the chin, startling challenger, Jaime angered, but hurt--she tries to retaliate in kind, but absorbs a thumping right uppercut to solar-plexus, stalling blonde assault, Missy snaps another short hook across to chin, trades right crosses as Jaime tries to slug-with, then both girls unleash hooks. JAIME GIES DOWN! Huge popping blast as Missy’s left hook catches Jaime flush, winning the race: Pressly out on her feet, then spilling to her back, eyes rolling up sick into her head as she relaxes into star-struck KO. Sensational thunderclap KO4 Missy Peregrym.

After: Missy leaping into arms of her trainers; rare to see a young talent deliver on so much promise so early as Peregrym devastates perhaps her most dangerous rival tonight. Pressly out for several minutes, caught and dropped with frightful leverage: physicians gently bringing her around, taking their time with suddenly helpless vixen. “Oh my God,” Missy bleats in post fight, blinking away tears of Jaime-busting joy, “this is so much better than I dreamed it would be. I felt her pop and speed early, but we trained for that, and I just jabbed her into punching lanes so I could pick her up. Everything worked to perfection--everything! On the biggest night of my life, against my best opponent, I put everything together and leveled her!” Missy installed at number one on BLONDE! Magazine’s “Top 10 List of Brunettes Who Must Be Beaten.” Peregrym as dominant at bantam as Kris Kreuk has been at fly, upping the ante for Fighter of the Year honors with this performance.
