BBU STABLE TOURNAMENT: PRELIMINARY ROUND
Posted by Abby Garnet on 10/7/2011, 5:31 am
The opening qualifier of the BBU Bantamweight Tournament sees Beever's Babe Jennifer Metcalfe taking on Kear's Kat Amy Childs for a chance to face off against Una Healy in the first round. Jennifer seems quiet, but confident in her corner, while Amy's quite mouthy in hers, though her taunts fall on deaf ears.
Both are looking good, Jennifer clad in a silver bikini while Amy's in black.
Round 1:
Amy starts out quick, trying to dig punches into Jennifer's body, causing her to quickly back up, trying to avoid any damage. Amy keeps at it, however, occasionally getting a shot and beginning to dictate where Jennifer moves. As she begins to near the corner, Jennifer tries to fire back with a jab to the face, her punch too high as Amy hunches down and begins to fire shot after shot into the body. Jenny attempts the occasional counter-punch, though mostly just covers up and absorbes the punishment. Amy works hard, beginning to grunt with exertion near the end of the round, but Jenny's able to stay standing to the bell. Amy lets out a frustrated yell, stamping away to her corner.
Amy's round, though she wasn't as effective with her punches as she would have hoped.
Round 2:
The second round begins much the same way, with Amy charging in and going right to the body, but this time Jenny's punching back much more frequently, managing to land several jabs whenever Amy commits too much. Amy seems completely caught off guard by Jennifer's aggression, as a right hook sends her stumbling back, and now it's Jenny's turn to be on the offensive. She moves in with rights and lefts, no longer seeming hesitant to box, as she pasts Amy's head side to side with rights and lefts. Amy can only manage to put everything she has into clinching to the end of the round, though her face has absorbed lots of punishment.
Jennifer's round. She seems to know she can take what Amy can give and isn't afraid to go all out. Amy's going to need to fight a very smart round, as her face is beginning to bruise in several locations.
Round 3:
Amy is much slower out of the corner this time around, keeping her distance and catching Jenny with the occasional jab to the face to keep her at bay. A missed hook by Jenny leaves Amy an opening to move in, as she goes to the body, stunning her, then goes up high with a few jabs to the face. Jennifer gets her mits up, beginning to swat Amy's weakened punches away, and then sees an opening and absolutely obliterates the younger girl with a right hook that swivels her head. Amy's knees buckle, her hands at her side, as Jenny moves in and catches her square in the chin with an uppercut, Amy out cold before she even hits the mat.
Jennifer Metcalfe knocked Amy Childs out in Round 3.
Jennifer qualifies for the first round, where she will take on Una Healy. "I deserved that spot, and I took it. I let her pick her spots, and it wasn't enough. Once that was clear, well... You saw what happened," Jennifer says after the fight, all smiles and confidence as she moves on.
