Jennifer Lawrence (21y/o; 5'7"; 132#; 34C-24-30) vs. Elizabeth Banks (37y/o; 5'5"; 128#; 34B-26-38) by simgrrl 9-10-11
(Preliminary to the Theron-Hathaway main event to follow)
There's been a lot of talk before this fight, most of it centering on the tension on the set of their film. The older Banks doesn't want to play 'second fiddle' to Jen Lawrence and has said so publicly. She doesn't have a lot of respect; pointing out what a "lousy" boxer Jen has been in her fights thus far; talking about "what I'd do to her" - if Jen agreed to fight her; expressing doubt she would. "You know she can't take the body shots and that's my 'bread & butter'," Liz boasts. "If she gets in the ring with me I'll beat that fat belly 'til she begs to quit. I'll make her cry like a baby. Why the hell should I respect her?" For her part, Lawrence knows she can't let that kind of disrespect go unchallenged and she hits back, hard! "Banks is old and over the hill," she sniffs. "It's too late in her career to be talking trash about me or anybody else. She never did - and never will - amount to anything, Hell, she's older than Charlize '####in' Theron. As for boxing? I'm not afraid of Banks. Hell, I welcome the challenge. I admit I haven't won very much, but I'm improving and this is the kind of fight I've been waiting for. Some observers comment on how Jen didn't swallow Theron's bait and go after Lively immediately as Charlize had advised her to do. Maybe the kid's smarter than many think?
During Rd 1: In light of all of that, Jen comes out fighting! She's aggressive and goes after Liz. a war breaks out in the center of the ring as both go at each other. Jen's having the better of it, as she's proving faster than Liz and landing more and harder punches, Liz is soon backing up as Jen's focus moves up to her head, she starts to clinch, wanting to tie the younger boxer up, the fight sort of bogs down as the ref seems content to letting them sort it out themselves and the crowd goes restless as the fight devolves to a wrestling match along the ropes. Liz is able to get in some good shots to Jen's flanks and tummy as she's being wrestled backward into the corners. A right hand in particular lands low and hard and Jen's breathless groans can be heard in the front rows. Lawrence frowning as Liz's arms seem to out-muscle the taller blonde's; Jen being frustrated as she's getting bullied by the shorter, older, woman,. Jen uses a foot against the ring post to lever Banks back, opening up with a right and then a left; one that misses, the other landing! Banks steps back and as Jen moves to follow, she gets nailed square in the gut; then an uppercut rocks her back and on comes Banks! Liz plants her feet wide and opens up, hard and fast; pounding Jen's heaving chest until she hears a satisfying yelp of pain. Jen fires back a lackluster right that lands but doesn't seem to be effective as Liz nails her in the teeth as she drives Lawrence back in the corner again. Lawrence all defensive while Liz is wide open offensively, hitting her with hard, hard, shots, to her arms and wow, one lands on Jen's guard so hard it splits her apart and snaps her head backward. Lawrence swings but Liz just takes the blow and keeps hammering away! Bell sounds and the ref has to pull Banks off as Jen stays in the corner, taking time to get it together before she goes to her own stool. It was tough stuff, and Jen got the worst of that round...fur sure!
Rd 2: Jen's corner working on her between rounds, pumping up her fragile confidence with up-beat chatter. It seems to be working because when the bell rings, Lawrence launches herself at Banks and pounds away with both fists. For almost a full minute Banks is rocked back on her heels, battered across the ring until her butt is stuffed back into her own corner. Jen twisting and turning, slamming punches into Banks' head and shoulders. Banks, in a low crouch, getting battered to the body as Jen bludgeons her with both hands. Then Banks regroups and comes battling back, lunging up to fight her way off the ropes after Lawrence gets a bit arm-weary; Banks behind a fusillade of body-punching that puts a stop to Jen's attack as the big blonde wilts under Banks' two-fisted challenge to her torso. Banks hammering Lawrence's suspect tummy; doubling the youngster over; then banging away on the flanks as Jen stumbles forward with her face buried in Bank's modest cleavage. Final minute an exercise in back and forth trading by two tired women, but with a slight edge to Banks who continues to feast on the lush expanse of pale blonde mid-section. At the bell, Banks gives Jen's quivering bottom an insolent spank as she sends her back to her corner holding herself with her left hand across her reddened belly.
Rd 3: In Jen's corner they tell her that she needs to take control of the fight that Liz has won both of the rounds so far.. but they know she's better, to just step up and go big, Jen nods, with that open wide-eyed look of the innocent... she stands tall for the third, across the ring, Banks is slower getting up, but seems completely confident as she nods, hearing that Lawrence is ready to go, that all she has to do is keep the pressure on till she cracks... you know she always cracks... so keep it on! At the bell, both come out ready to go hard and fast and they do. It's a toe to toe fight in the middle of the ring, crowd in one it's feet as all are aware that neither is playing, Liz keeps going low, but Jen is moving better and blocking some, though many are landing, and Jen starts to get punched backwards, then she manages to land a big right upper-cut, thrown hard as only the desperate can, Liz's head snaps back and so does she, Jen goes after her with a combination that lands, somehow, Banks absorbs it and hammers the blondes chest, now she's backing away again, but moving laterally as well, and snap right hook catches Liz, she's hurt, Jen moves in with a left, Banks off balance, throws a head shot, now Jen staggers and Liz is after her, Jen's fighting in retreat, landing but doesn't seem to have the power she needs and Liz just keeps coming; hammering away at her body. Jen's legs look weak, but she keeps punching; mostly arm shots with not much behind them, even those that land. Liz puts her back on the ropes again and Jen's eyes betray her discouragement, Liz is landing to the middle and coming up with uppercuts that land on blonde breasts. Jen's sending nothing back. Liz hits her in her face, twice.. Jen just takes, she's trying to cover up and survive. the only thing that saves her is that Liz seems to have punched herself out. she's hitting and hitting everything Lawrence , who turns away, showing her back, Liz hits that too... at the bell, ref pulls Liz off, Jen staggers to her corner, to a shower of boos, as it seems she all but quit at the end of that round... looks like it's 0-3 for Elizabeth Banks so far!
Rd 4: Jen's corner furious with her for her "lack of fight" in the closing minute of round three and they're in her face; her trainer grabbing her bra between the cups and slamming her back against the turnbuckles as she shakes her finger in her face; saliva flying in Jen's face as she's berated by her seconds while they rub her neck and shoulders and pour water over her head. Lawrence standing before the bell, bosom heaving excitedly, belly pumping rapidly as she sucks air into her lungs. Across the ring, a confident Elizabeth Banks sits until the warning buzzer, then stands while her mouthpiece is slipped into place; her lips curled in a smirking grin as she looks across at Lawrence's worried expression. Jen stalks resolutely across the ring and as Banks drives a hard left hook into her middle, Jen drops a short, chopping right over Banks' left shoulder. Banks' knees give way and she stumbles forward into Jen's arms. Lawrence wraps her up with her left arm, digging up into Banks' belly and breasts with the right; big, heavy, chugging blows that jerk Banks' body as her butt is slammed up and back with each powerful blow. Banks' clinging to Lawrence's shoulders; left cheek on Jen's right shoulder as Lawrence hammers her body. Finally, Jen puts her hands on Banks' shoulders and shoves her back, winds up, and windmills a big right to the side of Banks' face! Down goes Banks! Liz Banks spread-eagled on her back, lifts her head and looks around to see if anyone got the number of the truck that hit her while Jen meanders lazily to a neutral corner where she rests with her arms on the top ropes as the referee counts. Banks drags herself to her knees just barely beating the count; swaying unsteadily as the referee checks her out, then as he steps away and Lawrence rushes in, he jumps back between them and waves Jen away. It could have been a KO, but instead goes into the books as a TKO4 for Jen Lawrence who leaps in the air as the referee bundles a dazed and unaware Banks away to the safety of her corner.
After: Banks got overconfident and Lawrence caught her with a short power shot....that's all she wrote! Lawrence is naturally ecstatic in the aftermath. The first win is the hardest, Charlize Theron had told her; but now Jen feels she's on her way at long last!
"Who's next?" everyone wanted to know. Jen didn't have an answer, but she firmly shook her head when asked if she was ready to take on Blake Lively as Theron had counseled. "She put Charlize Theron to sleep like turning out a light," Jen pointed out. "I'm not sure I'm ready for that level of competition...not yet. Let me get a few more fights under my belt," she grinned. "Who knows, maybe I should beat Theron before I think of taking on someone as tough as Lively!" Later, Jen would try to say she was just kidding, but no one who saw her face when she said it was buying that! |
