BBU Stable Flyweight Tournament: Quarterfinals

The second quarterfinal of the BBU Championship tournament in the flyweight division features Tiffany Mulheron from Foxfire Atlantic (1-0, 1 KO) and Kara Tointon from Double A Boxing (2-6, 2 KO). The winner of this bout will take on defending champion Michelle Keegan in the semifinal.

Kara Tointon scored a huge upset win over former BBU flyweight champion Gemma Merna in the September's Double A vs Beever's Babes event and has placed herself as a dark horse for the division title. She sounds pretty confident before tonight's fight:

- Everyone saw how I knocked Gemma out and if that's not good enough to impress the experts, I don't know what is. Tiffany needed nine rounds to finally put Nikki Sanderson away in her only fight and I think Sanderson's reputation is nowhere near Merna's. Despite my inferior record, I will teach her a lesson or two tonight!

Round 1:

Both girls circle around the ring before Kara steps forward and delivers a strong combination to Tiffany's stomach catching her slightly off guard. She tries to jump back but loses her footing and nearly falls over. Kara is surprised at this and leaves Tiffany's lapse of concentration unpunished. However she quickly makes up for it and comes forward again trapping Mulheron in the corner. Several jabs land on Tiffany's body and Kara is looking in fine form early on. Mulheron barely responds with some weak, single punches and can only clinch in survival mode. It's getting ugly in the ring as Tiffany continues to lean on her rival and prevent her from delivering any more lethal blows. She escapes serious trouble until the bell, but can't really hang in that sort of mood for a long time.

Round 2:

Tointon not so eager to close the distance makes her mark with several straight jabs to Mulheron's head that gives the Foxfire girl something to think about. Kara still looks the more aggressive of the two and dominates the fight by jabbing her opponent on a constant basis. No real big punches being thrown but Tiffany is being pushed around the ring only reacting to Kara's offensive moves. Tointon notices her advantage and teases Mulheron by lowering her guard altogether but Tiffany refuses to give it a go. Just as the clock is about to run out on the round, she jumps at Kara though and surprises her with a series of hooks to the stomach. Tointon moans in pain, but Mulheron's charge is stopped by the bell.

Round 3:

Kara is angry over the dying seconds of the previous round and immediately jumps at Tiffany who accepts the challenge. Both girls throw several big punches and the fight has finally kick-started with some firecrackers! Tiffany works on Kara's stomach and peppers her ribs with no sympathy whatsoever. Tointon bends forward and looks to headbutt her opponent, but Mulheron delivers a couple of hooks straight into her jaw and down goes Tointon!!! Scrambling on her knees, the Double A girl gets up quickly to beat the eight count with ease and she looks very angry now. Tiffany smiles at her with irony but soon realizes that Kara has switched into destruction mode. Tointon proves that the knock-down was only a lapse of concentration, she charges at Mulheron and sends her back along the ropes with a series of hooks and jabs. Tiffany let her rival off the hook and has paid a heavy prize as she loses the momentum and can't do much about Kara's flurry of punches to the midsection. Less than a minute after sending Tointon down, Mulheron suffers the same fate as Kara breaks her guard and pounds her straight in the jaw. Knees give way for Tiffany who slumps down on the canvas! Referee counts her to seven before she gets up and now it's her turn to look absolutely furious at her opponent. The slugfest continues soon afterwards and this has been one of the more vicious rounds BBU has ever seen. Both girls are wrecking each other with some heavy blows but neither falls down again. Tiffany tries to make a mush out of Kara's stomach while being handed a crushed ribs on her own instead. The barrage finally stops at the bell and both girls look as they've gone distance already. Tiffany walks back to her corner covering her left cheek while Kara feels clearly affected by the pounding she took on her stomach.

Round 4:

A small delay before round number four as there is a cut underneath Tiffany's left eye. She seems little concerned about this one and Kara looks as aggressive as she was in the previous round as well. They certainly don't waste much time and get hooked up in a vicious slugfest right from the bell. Tointon target's Mulheron's left eye more often now, she romps her with a couple of hooks before unleashing a low jab to the ribs. Tiffany felt that one and tries to clinch but Kara pushes her to the corner and works on her stomach with a clinical display of fury. Tiffany tries some malicious punches to the back of the head but Tointon has switched all the warning lights off and doesn't seem affected. Referee tries to break them and give Mulheron a talking to, but just as he is about to step in, Kara finally breaks Tiffany's defence and catches her straight under the breasts before following up with nasty uppercut to the jaw. Tiffany's blonde hair fly back before her head does likewise and she literally slides down against the corner post. There is much chaos as Tointon tries to punch her rival again as she is finally pushed back by the ref who can start the count on Mulheron. ...five, six. seven, eight.. - Tiffany tries to get up, but looks very sore and unable to react in time... nine, ten... It's over. Mulheron remains sitting down on the canvas and Kara Tointon erupts in joy on the other side of the ring. KO Kara Tointon R4!!!

Tiffany finally gets up after several seconds but the cut underneath her eye looks grisly and she's holding her jaw in some discomfort. She avoids looking at the victorious opponent and barely accepts the fact she got outmuscled in a real slugfest in the ring as she talks to the press:

- You know, I don't have a jaw made out of glass, she was pure lucky with that final punch. I'll get her next time!

Meanwhile Kara doesn't seem to care much about her fallen rival and looks forward to take on the defending champ Michelle Keegan in the semifinal:

- Can't say I'm sorry for Tiffany. I nearly broke her jaw with that uppercut. That was the lesson I was talking about before. Michelle was pretty impressive in her quarterfinal but I still think she's due for an upset loss! Watch out, Keegan! You'll be joining Tiffany Mulheron in the loser's pool soon! Now, please excuse me but I'm off to cheer for my sister Hannah taking on that blonde trash Emma Bunton. I hope Hannah takes care of her in style so we can both celebrate tonight!

Final score: Kara Tointon def. Tiffany Mulheron KO4.
