Kear’s Kats sends out redhaired Nicola Roberts to take on Lioness Club’s Jessica Schwarz. Nicola smaller than the German fighter, who has built up a strong record, but Roberts undaunted. She points out she is 26 to Jessica’s 34--”I’m going to wear her down--just you wait and see.” Jessica smiles grimly: “I don’t intend to give her that much time.” Nicola in black and white bikini. Jessica in red bikini. Black gloves for both fighters.

Round 1:

Fight gets off to exciting start. Bigger Jessica moves in quickly trying to body Nicola back to the ropes, but the redhead uses her jab and makes the Lioness Club fighter pay for it. Then Nicola slips around Jessica and they have a brisk exchange that moves them back to center ring. Both show good skills in defense and offense with neither able to gain this advantage. Bell rings and round looks like a draw.

Round 2:

Nicola moves more quickly than Jessica and is able to land a lightning left-right combo into the brunette’s solar plexus. JESSICA SCHWARTZ IS HURT! Jessica’s knees buckling and Nicola gets in some nice uppercuts into the Lioness Club fighter’s jaw. Jessica drops to her knees holding her midsection and gasping for breath. Crowd roars in delighted surprise as the redhead goes back to her corner. Jessica back up but she’s still hurting and goes into defensive mode. Nicola jabbed and clinched for the rest of the round, unable to get much more going, but she’s made her point in this round.

Round 3:

Jessica recovers during the break, but approached Nicola more warily. Brunette bobbing and weaving to keep Kats girl from landing squarely. At the same time, the veteran has her eyes watching for openings. Then Nicola lets her guard down in as she lunges forward with her right, Nicola ducks the right and strikes back with her left. She catches Nicola in the mouth. The redhead surprised and Jessica follows up crisply with left and rights to the jaw. The last one, a heavy left hook whips Nicola’s head around in a spray of sweat droplets and Roberts topples backwards. Jessica steps back triumphantly as Nicola looks up dizzily from the canvas. Roberts makes it back up but she is on the defensive for the rest of the round.

Round 4:

Nicola Roberts shakes off the knockdown and comes back out ready to fight. Jessica Schwarz more than happy to oblige. The two stand in midring shoulder to shoulder banging away to the body. The two start to move around, never stopping the punching and never quite handing a knockdown punch. Still both take heavy shelling to the body and late in the round, the punching moves up to the head. Both faces getting lumped up, but again both showing toughness in hanging in. Judges think this was another draw.

Round 5:

Another closely fought round as the two fighters again fall in together at midring and resume the mutual shelling to the body and head. However Jessica’s showing better movement which causes Nicola to miss more often and allows Jessica to find more openings to damage the redhead. Jessica edges out Nicola on the cards as the round ends.

Rounds 6 & 7:

Very similar rounds as the two fighters continues to wage their mutual battle of attrition. They do move more around the ring, mainly this is the veteran Jessica Schwarz, but Nicola keeps up with her and works her counter punches well. She’s punishing the older fighter, but the veteran is doing more damage. Nicola’s left eye is starting to get puffy and Jessica works it whenever she can get in a shot. Jessica winning both rounds, but she is starting to slow up and observers think Nicola’s announced strategy just might be working.

Round 8:

Nicola on the offensive in this round. She lands solid whacks Jessica’s head and does more damage to the German fighter’s ribs. Jessica trying to protect those ribs covers up and gets more battering around the head. Jessica is finally obliged to clinch to buy herself some time, but Nicola keeps up the attack and Jessica finishes looking tired.

Round 9:

Nicola sensing the fight is turning in her direction, puts on more pressure and hangs in close to Jessica, trying to swab those ribs and stomach. Jessica making her pay with accurate jabbing, That left eye on the redhead is looking steadily worse, but Nicola won’t back off. Finally forces Jessica into more clinching as a frustrated Nicola swings wildly into her opponents’ sides until ref forces them apart. Bell rings and both fighters stumble back to their corners. Jessica struggling for breath, while that left eye on Nicola looks alarming, but the Kear’s Kats fighter has won another round.

Round 10:

Jessica Schwarz comes trudging out at the bell, she looks like a discouraged and beaten fighter. Nicola now half-blind sees this welcome sight and moves in quickly all set to land a haymaker that will end this with knockout lightning. Nicola cocks that right and unleashes, but too late she sees Jessica was faking her out! The brunette ducks the incoming right and throws in her own right that catches Nicola on that left eye! Nicola‘s knees buckle instantly , Jessica in close rams home hard left and rights to Nicola’s wide-open jaw. Nicola crashes onto her back all starfished and out cold. Jessica Schwarz staggers away on shaky legs as the ref quickly calls a halt.

After: Grueling fight leaves Jessica Schwarz of the Lioness Club as the last woman standing. Nicola revived on her stool recovers in time to shake hands with Jessica who says: “Her plan very nearly worked. I don’t think I could have finished that round.” Nicola herself ruefully says: “I’ll heal and I have learned from this fight. I’ll do better next time.”
