Before: Lioness Club’s Emma Bunton now 4-0 (all by KO) faces off against Adele Silva of Kear’s Kats, now 7-2 (6 KO’s) in what observers believe will be an excellent showdown battle of proven winners. Both fighters coolly guarded in their pre-fight comments not wanting to give the other a motivating remark, but both are determined to win. Emma in pale blue bikini with dark blue gloves. Adele in black bikini with gold colored gloves.
Round 1
Both fighters move cautiously to midring and start circling each other, firing in probing punches, looking for openings. Both show good movement and steady jabs. Things seem even for about the first minute or so, then Adele starts working Emma’s body. Emma hunches forward protectively and tries to use the jab. Adele obliged to keep circling, looking for a way in. Late in the round, Silva feints a move lower down, but instead sends a sweeping right into Emma’s jaw. Blonde’s head snapped around and she stumbles back against the ropes. Adele follows and quick fires punches down onto Emma’s face as she lolls on the ropes. Emma instinctively wraps Adele up around the face in a clinch that buys her some relief. Ref steps in to break them up. Emma’s face looks really lumped before she goes face-in-gloves to protect herself to the bell.
Round 2
Emma cautious after the battering she took, maintains a tight protective guard to her head and a jab to try to keep Adele back. Adele bobbing and weaving, makes it hard for Emma’s counterpunches to land effectively. However she is not landing much either, though she is the busier fighter and nearly at the end of the round. She finally gets some good hooks into the Bunton breadbasket to make Emma double up in pain.
Round 3
Emma looks to be hurting and comes out very cautiously this round. Adele keeps trying to get at her, but Bunton not letting her land any dangerous punches. Silva obliged to work her way around the perimeter and keep busy. Nice defensive work by Emma in thwarting Adele, but this doesn’t help her much with the judges as the much busier Silva takes another round.
Round 4
Emma apparently recovered and goes on the offensive in this round. She almost dancing around Adele as she swings in punches over Silva’s guard or tries to find room up underneath. Adele looks almost plodding trying to keep up, but she is focused. Emma tries to fight her way in close, but Adele ready with hooks to that tender belly and grazing shots off Bunton’s face. Silva places a short right the jaw that causes Bunton legs to buckle and the follow up left hook behind the right ear drops Emma to her butt. Emma gets back up, bur she’s looked annoyed at the way this fight is going.
Round 5
Adele moves out firmly to mid ring and starts putting steady pressure on Emma. Emma digs in behind her jab and the exchanges grows steadily in intensity. Emma scoring to Adele’s chin making her back off. Emma moves along trying to exploit the opportunity, but Adele gets her own jab fired up and Emma gets a face-full of hard leather. Emma reels back and Adele leans in with sweeping lefts and rights that crack off Bunton’s face. Emma crashes onto her back and Adele steps back crisply. Emma sits up, shaking her head and gets to her feet in time to beat the 10-count. She does not look good as Adele closes in to finish the job. Emma raises her dukes but Adele pounds that waistband driving Emma up on her toes as she bends forward, then Adele shifts and launches a powerhouse right cross. Emma’s head snaps around in a spray of sweat and her body crashes onto her side. Emma struggles to her feet, but her eyes as vacant and the referee refuses to allow this to continue. Adele yelps with delight as she wins this on a TKO5.
After: “So much for Emma’s undefeated record,” sniffs Adele in post fight. “Now everyone knows who the best fighter was I can’t wait for the finals. Keegan is going down next!” Emma dismayed at the stoppage says: “I apologize to my fans for allowing the referee to jump to the conclusion I wasn’t able to go on. No one is more unhappy about that than I am. Sure she rang my bell but I know I would have recovered. There was still plenty of time for me to win that fight. I just wasn’t allowed to do it.” (“Pathetic,” Adele says on BBU Live, “I beat her and she knows it. Blaming the referee is the something only losers do. I guess that’s who Emma Bunton really is.”)
