BEFORE: "I feel that my fists have contributed to the decline of many fighters over the years," Virginie says in prefight, "but to think that I may actually be 'ammering a Big Name into retirement in this fight? It's quite exciting actually. It's time for Winona to say goodnight, and Virginie is the perfect fighter to tuck 'er in!" Ryder setting the press straight from the podium. "I may be retiring from the sport of boxing this year," Winona contends, "but it'll be on my terms, not Virginie's. I'm going out huge, guys - I'm going out swinging, in a blaze of glory: NOBODY is going to be hammering me into retirement. I actually feel kind of invigorated by this decision...you're going to see a better, more determined Winona than you've ever seen before, fighting against a hall of fame type fighter in Virginie Ledoyen...sounds like a Superfight, doesn't it?" Winona in burgundy bra style bikini top and matching tight yoga shorts; small black gloves; neck length hair in wavy fighting bob. Virginie in navy bra style bikini and matching tight yoga shorts; small red gloves; long brown hair tied back off her brows.

During R1: Virginie cagey early - giving ground in circles - parrying and slipping punches as Winona's aggressively forward. Minute in, Ledoyen rolls to her right with an ambitious Ryder right; answers back a pounding right hand just under 'Noni's left breasts: Ryder sobbing out as legs give way from perfectly placed heart punch. Second minute - Virginie check-jabbing as she's backing up/sidestepping, luring Winona forward...counter right hand over a Ryder jab has Winona spellbound, helpless to prevent a swinging hook from toggling her chin! Ryder stepping in fence post holes, eyes watery and forlorn: Virginie cold-blooded as she circles right, looks things over, then starts coming forward behind the jab. Fight moves to ropes - Ledoyen on top: French girl adminsteres methodical, full-body beatdown to a cowering Winona Ryder. Textbook stuff - Virginie going about the business of hurting her foe, then cleaning her up with clinical precision in the first.

R2: Similar stuff - Winona coming forward looking to mix it up...Ledoyen using crafty feints, tactical retreats, cutey-pie sidesteps to lure Ryder into traps. Ryder throwing more but missing against Virginie's parrying and just-in-time movement: Ledoyen relying on exquisite punch-placement to make the most of the few she's tossing. Virginie depositing another excrutiating right hand heart punch under Winona's left breast that has Ryder stricken and gasping; Ledoyen with the check-hook off the right (back) foot toggles Winona's chin, causing her to stagger step on the spot. Down the stretch - Ledoyen touching her jab to Winona's body while retreating, walks Ryder into a looping overhand right across chin...Winona frazzled - arms outstretched, face pinched as the baby-steps forward, then back...Ledoyen icy-eyed as she looks over the hurt at bell.

R3: Virginie changes tack, wading into Ledoyen now to apply pressure to a rickety, hurt fighter. Leads to crowd pleasing toe-to-toe - Virginie willing to take punches now as she pours on the work, looking to get Winona out of there. Ryder gritting her teeth, standing her ground, moving her hands - she's pumping Virginie's tummy full of leather; hooking Ledoyen's chin and trading choppy right hands close in. Expensive trade goes Virginie's way: she backs Ryder to ropes, slowly overwhelms her as Winona covers up in last minute, taking a beating in her flanks. Bell: Ryder grumpy, grimacing...Virginie frosty eyed as she looks things over.

R4: Virginie stepping-to and working again, pouring the pressure to Winona Ryder. Winnie digging in, slamming back: women trade lusty body blows back and forth, with Ledoyen eventually forcing Ryder back to ropes. More trading on the inside as girls bump shoulders, swap hooks to waistlines/right uppercuts to chins...hot n' heavy work in a phone booth as Ledoyen really bears down. Winona pulverized in these minutes, but showing real pride: curvy legs often shimmying, but never giving way as Virginie slowly imposes will.

R5: Virginie wades in and RIGHT HAND, WINONA! Looping shot over the top clips across Virginie's chin almost by accident...Ledoyen staring, steps in a fence post hole...wobbles on the spot, then FLOPS TO ALL FOURS! Winona shrieking in exultation, pushed back by ref...Virginie Ledoyen's desperately hurt! French girl beats the count all wide-eyed and exhaling through pursed lips: she forms up earmuff against ropes as HERE COMES 'NONI! Winona wades in - extending her left to touch at Ledoyen's raised guard, then stroking her a hateful right hand slap-chop across the trunks! Left hook bites at trunk as well, pitching crippled Virginie forward into Winona's arms: American heaves French girl back into ropes ragdoll! Swinging right punches across Virginie's mouth - belting the gumshield off her teeth, leaving her staring. Left pushes Virginie upright by her chest, stabilizing her for another sweeping right to face...Ledoyen just staring into wrecking ball rights, her hands at her tummy. Another right, ANOTHER RIGHT! Winona baring her teeth, propping Virginie with the left and belting her righty and THE REF STEPS IN! Good Lord - TKO5 Winona freaking Ryder!

After: Ryder puts an extra right onto Virginie's chin as ref's trying to move in - then Winona's leaping and shrieking in ecstasy. Virginie devastated - well ahead, in total command of this fight when the Titanic hits the iceberg...couple of cheap shots later and it's one of the biggest upsets of the year. "I came to win," Winona declares fiercely in postfight, "and I did what I had to do. Virginie's a great boxer, so I knew I'd have to knock her out. I was throwing hard all night, so it was just a matter of time...once I tagged her, I went all in." 'Noni! 'Noni! What about those low blows? Virginie looked like she was really hurt by those...care to comment? "(withering glare) What low blows? I took her to tummy and she couldn't take it. Next question!"
