The time has come for the Lioness Club to bring the first ever FCBA sanctioned fight into the Barnet area in North London. The Main Event of the November Nemesis event features two of the most experienced fighters ever to grace the KO Club with their presence, both whom never fought each other before despite extensive records. Geri Halliwell from the Lioness Club takes on Hannah Spearritt who is looking to attract a new stable for her services after the demise of RiRy Boxing earlier this year.
Geri's FCBA record is 14-10-1, 10 KO and she's won all five fights since her return to action midway through 2007. Hannah's record is 10-11, 3 KO but she's lost the last three fights (including the current flyweight #1 Natalie Portman as well as the always menacing Vanessa Hudgens) and hasn't won since April. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the flyweight division.
Cheryl Cole is right there by the ring giving both fighters an old fashioned death stare. Hannah smiles back with disgust as she remembers pretty well a KO she'd send Cole packing earlier this year, but Geri looks on ready for both the challenges, first with Spearritt tonight and later with Cole before the year is over.
Geri Halliwell wearing a black one-piece swimsuit and red gloves. Hannah Spearrit wearing a silver bikini and black gloves.
Round 1: There's a lot at stake for both these girls and pride is perhaps the most important factor. Halliwell immediately wants to stamp her authority on the fight and comes out firing with a flurry of punches looking to dominate the younger opponent. Solid jabs land on Hannah's ribs as she seems surprised by this early onslaught. Geri gives few years away but has developed an incredibly aggressive approach even by her standards and easily pushes Spearritt along the ropes. She targets her stomach again and again before unleashing a crisp uppercut that skims off Hannah's nose. That was a close one, but Spearritt paid enough attention and avoided getting nailed in the jaw. Nonetherless Geri continues her early charge and lands more hooks to the ribs forcing the blonde to clinch. Hannah has struggled in the opening round, but leans on Halliwell and tries to clinch her away. There's some shoving along the ropes and Spearritt finally outmuscles the redhead and sidesteps away from danger. She delivers some single jabs to keep Geri at distance but is unable to cause any serious damage and seems happy to avoid receiving some of her own.
Round 2: More aggression from Geri who unleashes more hooks to the midsection and forces Hannah back to the ropes again. It's a very lively start from the redhead and even Cheryl Cole in the stands keeps tracking her progress. Geri catches Hannah with more jabs to the stomach and Hannah is in real discomfort early on. She clinches and shoves Geri away but gets nailed with a big hook to the head just as Geri was looking to firmly lose the close distance. Halliwell circles back to center of the ring looking for another opportunity to attack but it's the blonde stepping in on her instead. Finally there's a good combination to the midsection from Spearritt who follows up with a big hook that crashes against Halliwell's guard. Hannah seeks for more damage but her jabs are blocked off and Geri nails her with another low hook to the ribs. Hannah shakes her head and circles away as Geri tries to trap her in the corner but the blonde is too quick on her feet to allow her doing so. Nonetherless it's still the redhead making the better impression so far.
Round 3: Hannah has dropped her hesitant approach and comes out with a blaze to start the third. She immediately catches Geri in the side of the head with a powerful hook and follows up with another one to the stomach. Geri looks stunned and covers up as Hannah enjoys her best period yet, pounding her with literally no response. Several unanswered punches land on Halliwell's body and her guard is looking vulnerable all of the sudden. Spearritt easily traps her in the corner and continues the rout only for Halliwell to duck away back and forth looking for escape out of trouble. Hannah pauses for a moment and tries an ultimate way to break the redhead's guard into pieces, but Geri leans on her and manages to clinch despite taking a lot of punishment in the proccess. A small lapse of concentration allowed Geri to survive this onslaught but Hannah doesn't seemed affected at all. Referee separates them however immediately after they go back into action, Hannah stuns her older rival with another hook to the head and Geri gets pinned in the corner again. It's a very one-sided round and the blonde's progress is only stopped by the bell as Halliwell walks back on very soft legs with her face turning as red as her hair. Spearritt caused more damage in this round then she received in the previous two and the fight is definitely on now.
Round 4: Cheryl Cole is up on her feet during the interval impressed by the way Hannah pasted Geri in the third, possibly thinking she can do the same with the redhead in the near future. There's no sign of Geri's aggression at the start of the fourth and Hannah looks menacing, circling around her opponent and looking for an opportunity to step in. Halliwell looks very focused but concerned about what happened in the third and keeps the distance with only some single jabs being thrown. Hannah is more lively though, much quicker on her feet and lands two punches for Geri's every single one. However there's little damage caused in this round as Hannah seems happy with just working her rival over from the distance. It's not the best sight for the crowd but the judges should he more impressed. Geri looks frustrated as the younger girl seems to be making all the moves lately and wants to step in. She charges with a couple of jabs to force Spearritt away and catches her with a good hook to the stomach. Hannah moans in anger but Gery squares up to her and they suddenly begin trading punches along the ropes. Hannah lands a nasty hook on Geri's right eye, but gets pasted with a couple of jabs in the ribs and another uppercut that lands on her chin. Hannah loses her balance and the knees become soft but she stays upright as Geri catches her with another blow to the guts. Blonde leans forward and clinches as Halliwell starts to working on her ribs before they get tangled up in the ropes. Geru wants to shove her rival away and lands another jab underneath the elbow but Hannah clinches with all her might and survives until the bell. She looked pretty good for most part of this round, but Geri's charge late on was even more impressive.
Round 5: The tempo has dropped off a bit in this round, Geri begins to breath more heavily and Hannah didn't really like the final minute of the previous round where she received some unexpected punishment. Both women trade single punches and circle around the ring with neither looking to close the distance. Once again, the blonde's quicker footing makes her more lively in the ring and allows her to deliver more punches as Geri is unwilling to take any big risks. Spearritt tries some hooks to the head but the older woman easily blocks them off only to be caught with a nasty jab to the stomach. Hannah jumps on her inside the final minute and delivers strong blows that crash against Geri's guard, but she's firmly on the offense now, pushing the redhead along the ropes. She continues her attack and Halliwell, despite her aggressive nature, looks very second-handed here. Hannah scores easy shots below Geri's elbows and pummells her during the final thirty seconds of the round, but is unable to make her hit the canvas just yet. Geri's maybe losing her strenght but is still game enough to avoid getting knocked down in front of her own crowd.
Round 6: Geri's face is truly matching her hair color now while Hannah looks in much better shape in the other corner. The blonde charges out of her stool to add further insult to Halliwell's misery as she continues to work her over in the center of the ring. The crowd doesn't like this one as Hannah breaks Geri's guard with solid jabs to the face and Halliwell swerves her head away in avoidance of a powerful right hook that misses her chin by inches. Nonetherless Spearritt easily pushes her rival against the corner post and pounds her with no mercy again. There isn't really any superior strenght behind them but the number of blows dished out by the blonde is terrifying alone and no wonder Geri starts to whimper inside the final minute of this round. She's hardly found any response to Hannah's clinical display of boxing and is forced to take more punishment in the corner. Hannah lands more hooks to the head and breaks her guard before a stiff jab catches Geri right in the left eye. How come the redhead stayed upright after that one, is a mystery but at the bell, Geri's sporting a black eye of the finest manner and the past two rounds have been a true nightmare for her. Back in the crowd, Cheryl Cole disobeys all the rules and lights up a cigarette watching with interest as her next opponent is really struggling to make her mark as time goes on.
Round 7: During the interval Geri looks pretty beaten up in her corner but she spots Cheryl Cole puffing away in her chair and suddenly becomes really angry. The stamina is not there anymore and her opponent easily looks in much better shape however Halliwell goes all-in at the start of the seventh. She delivers a good combiantion down low, followed up by a monster hook that catches Spearritt in the side of the head. It's game on all of the sudden as Hannah looks very annoyed at this treatment. She catches Geri in the guts and smashes another hook onto the eye with Geri feeling every single ounce of strenght behind it. She jumps back to the ropes but the blonde is right up with her trading hooks and jabs all over her body. Halliwell clinches and tries to punch her rival in the ribs, but it's Spearritt still causing the more damage. She catches the redhead with another two punches to the side of the head and pushes her to the corner. Geri leans on her ignoring all the pain she's going through and finally the ref comes for the resue separating them and sending back to center of the ring. Hannah immediately goes on the attack again forcing Geri to duck away along the ropes. The cat and mouse game lasts until the bell and the blonde manages to score a couple of nice jabs to the stomach before it's over and Geri is really struggling now loisng yet another round.
Round 8: Halliwell's left eye is now matching her swimsuit color and it really looks ugly compared to her pale skin. Hannah is breathing heavily but her face is still in perfect shape as she begins yet another onslaught at the expense of the poor redhead. The crowd is getting very quiet now as Hannah nails a big hook to the head breaking Geri's guard open and follows up with a nasty uppercut to the jaw. Geri's wobbles, leans forward and goes crashing down onto the canvas!!! Even Cheryl Cole shakes her head in disgust as referee begins the count.. at three Halliwell rolls herself back onto all fours..., at six she up at her knees... and at eight she's upright again sending a death stare to both the ref and Hannah Spearritt! This was a close call, but she has survived it albeit with a cost of a nasty cut on her jaw. Referee checks her eyes but the fire is still burning and it's back to business again! Hannah doesn't waste any time and moves in looking for the kill, several big hooks crash against Halliwell's aching guard and Hannah pounds her ribs to add further insult. It's all one-way traffic here but Gery refuses to go down for the second time. It's painful to watch as Spearritt pummels her like a rag doll. A couple of big hooks catch Geri in the right eye, it's starting to swell just like that, under the barrage of Hannah's punches. The crowd is almost dead silent, but the referee seems to be enjoying this chainsaw-like battering and he doesn't step in to call it off!!! A full minute of unanswered onslaught finally ends when Hannah gets tired and steps away assessing the damage she's caused. Geri looks like a mess, one black eye, the other swelling badly plus the cut on the chin. She barely moves from the ropes but Spearritt is looking pretty worn out herself as the fight enters it's final stages. The bell is met with a sight of relief from both sides. It will be effectively impossible for Geri to win this fight on points now.
Round 9: Back in the stands Cheryl Cole is taking another gasper but she finally makes her way close to Halliwell's corner and shouts at her from close range "I thought you're much better than that! She's taking you apart! I hope you won't pull out of our arrangement now?". She than puffs a cloud of smoke straight in her face before walking back to her chair. The crowd has gotten loud again as they sense Geri's on a Hail Mary mission now. Meanwhile Hannah looks to be happy with her advantage and keeps the distance at the start of the ninth. It's Geri that needs to make all the moves now and despite her face looking like a chopped piece of meat, she's going for it! She throws some wild hooks around the blonde's head but they all go wayward as Hannah responds with a well-placed swing to the guts. Geri struggles to move away in time and Hannah jumps on her again; the first hook crashes against the guard, the second one lands on the elbows but she makes a small step to the left and follows up with an uppercut underneath the forearm and breaks Halliwell's guard open. Third time lucky, Spearritt lands easy couple of jabs to the face and down goes the redhead for the second time tonight!!! She hits the canvas flat out with her back and tries to get up as soon as possible. She stumbles once, she stumbles twice... but gets up at the seven count and waves her gloves in anger. She's not done just yet! Referee checks the battle scarfs though, the right eye seems to be the biggest concern, it's swelling quite a bit but still nothing compared to Samia Smith's golf ball-like wound earlier on. The fight continues, but Hannah pushes Geri along the ropes and lands more single punches to further humilaite her in front of the entire crowd. Spearritt's tank seems to be running close to empty as well, but she's taken none of the punishment she has dished out on her own, The round ends with Geri covering up and Hannah standing over her looking to break her down mentally more than physically.
Round 10: The crowd is on their feet as here comes the final round. Geri is in the worst kind of shape since she got trounced by Michelle Williams eight years ago and that tells you something about this fight. However to make her look so bad, Hannah Spearritt has used up almost all her energy and is running on empty as well. She can't relax though as Geri hasn't quit this fight and the crowd still hopes for that one big haymaker to turn it all around. Here comes the bell and the two flyweights go at it one more time. Hannah still much quicker on her feet, circles around like a vulture, looking to whack the redhead with one final blow. She's ahead on points by a country mile however the desire to humiliate Halliwell in her own backyard is too big and worth taking a risk espcially considering what happened with RiRy Boxing. Indeed Spearritt moves in with low combination and backs the redhead up. She continues her clinical display of boxing by working Geri over with constant jabs and hooks to the body. Halliwell covers up but lands a stiff jab that breaks Hannah's own guard, she then follows up with another jab to the stomach and one more in the head. Spearritt jumps back but circles in forward soon. Geri squares up to her and lands a good hook to the head, Hannah has none of it and unleashes a flurry of punches that skim off the redhead's guard. Hannah forces her against the ropes and looks for more blows to the midsection. Geri refuses to clinch and shoves her away; the crowd is cheering wildly in the background as Geri looks for the evil haymaker out of nowhere. Hannah refuses to back down; peppers her guard with single jabs, Geri sidesteps away to center of the ring, Hannah moves in on her with a stiff jab, but that goes wayward. One minute on the clock remaining.... Halliwell jumps forward one more time, Spearritt wants to jumps back... but her feet get tangled up, Geri goes hard in with a crushing hook to the stomach... Hannah bends down in pain, but raises her guard on the left... that's not going to work.... Geri smashes a massive left hook with all her will power and incredibly it goes right above Hannah's right glove and straight onto her chin.. the blonde's head has snapped all the way back and down goes Spearritt with thirty eight seconds left on the clock!!!! There's something flipping through the air as Hannah went crashing down on her back; it lands right at Cheryl Cole's feet in the first row.... The Geordie herself is shocked at what just happened but she grabs the thing which nearly hit her and it's Hannah Spearritt's mouth piece that got knocked out of her mouth when Geri thumped her with that undertaker!!!! It's all going nuts in the KO Club, nobody pays attention to the referee giving the ten count.... the buxom redhead in the ring herself bends down on the ropes looking totally exhausted and completely worst to wear..... Cheryl Cole stares down at the mouth piece like it's Kate Middleton's wedding ring.... The greatest upset and Hail Mary comeback style in the Club's history has just been witnessed... and poor Hannah Spearritt nearly had her jaw broken in the proccess.... It's all over with twenty eight seconds left on the clock.... KO R10 Geri Halliwell!!!!!
The pandemonium in the stands continues and even Cheryl Cole begins to applaud Halliwell's success. She looks as shocked as almost everyone but when she's joined by Kym Marsh she tries to make her point "That was not impressive. I'll still beat the crap out of her next time around". Marsh laughs at it and says "Aren't you like jealous or something? I enjoyed this Club event pretty much, after all I won here and hopefully they'll get me into more fights!" Cheryl looks back at her: "Let's go for a drink, no need to cherish the old woman's success"
As both the Kats make their way to the bar, Geri Halliwell walks around the ring relishing the comeback triumph but also admits she nearly snapped her own wrist with that final haymaker: "This may go down as one of the finest knockouts in modern history. I'm so glad Cheryl Cole was able to see that one! I bet the poor bimbo suffered a diarrhea after all this, she left in such a hurry!"
Meanwhile Hannah Spearritt needed a best part of five minutes to regain consciousness and was clearly dejected by the end result: "I don't know what happened. I had her where I wanted all night long and she nearly broke my jaw with half a minute remaining! That's pathetic, but what can I do now? I should have gone for the points victory instead, it was always going to be mine, but since I'm kinda unemployed now, I went for the risk and lost it all! Still, I hope someone hires me soon!"
Final result: Geri Halliwell def. Hannah Spearritt KO10.
