TESS VALMORE
PERRY/ HATHAWAY. Prior to this bout, the question was, did the light hitting Halle Berry expose Perry’s weak point, a glass jaw. After this bout, the answer was in the affirmative as the light hitting Hathaway scored a second round knockout over the bigger lightweight. It was the same old wild swinging Perry, who has no idea of the meaning of the word defense. In the second round she walked into a big right from Hathaway and a pair of left-right combinations ended the fight. The Wiz recently extended Perry’s contract through 2012 as a vote of confidence. Perry can’t be relieved. What the Wiz giveth, he can buy out. What has The Wiz gotten for his money? Another Loken?
KRUEK/ CHART I was hoping that Kruek would win this fight. If you want to know (which you may not) I don’t like Chabert very much as I think her post fight activities are not only bad sportsmanship but disgusting and that goes for her stablemate Jessica, whatever her name is, Unfortunately, Chabert was the aggressor in the fight. I had the fight scored even at the end of six but by the final round Chabert had a slight lead. She would not need it, as a single overhand right from Chabert landed flush and Kreuk down and out, victim of a tenth round KO. Everyone knew what was coming post fight and Chabert and that Hewitt person performed their usual hideous punishment.
KUNIS/ HEWITT. I don’t like Hewitt for the same reasons I don’t like Chabert so I was rooting for Kunis. For the first three rounds, the fight wasn’t going as I hoped. Hewitt gave Kunis beating for the rounds. Kunis hurt Hewitt early in the fourth with a right hand and the dropped her for an eight count with another right. At the beginning of the fifth, Kunis clapped Hewitt’s mouthpiece off and the proceeded to drop her twice, the last time for good as Hewitt was counted out
JOHANNSON/ PORTMAN This was a fight that i had mentioned that I wanted to see. Had I predicted this fight, I would have gone with Portman but then I would have gone with Kruek in the first fight. After a non-eventful first, Johannson got after Portman battering her in the second and third rounds. In the fourth Portman finally hit her stride getting the better of Johannson and dropping her late in the round. Portman’s advantage continued in the next three rounds until in the seventh Johannson had taken so much punishment she could no longer continue and the fight was stopped. Portman won her eighth unified flyweight title by a TKO
After the Perry/ Hathaway fight we were treated to a hugely entertaining bout from South Jersey that occurred in a swamp ring surrounded by alligators. I wasn’t able to attend because I was at the Trump Taj Mahal with Jenny O’Dell and her elderly blonde sidekick covering the Perry fight. I watched in on a huge flat screen in the sports bar. Halle Berry pulled off another KO. Good for her. The old lady is becoming number two at the Academy
I have been getting the low down on the Halloween party that occurred with HISC and Lookout. I wasn’t there because Smackey and I weren’t invited. That’s OK. We will be at Bazz for football and the Lookout crew won’t be. I was down in Nashville anyway. As I understand it, while there were a number of celebrities, it was actually a long brawl between Hudgens and Williams. Who got the better of it depends on who you talk to but I would have to say if the party didn’t lack action it did lack dignity |
