"AN AUSTRALIAN MEETING OF THE MINDS"
Posted by Baudo on 11/6/2011, 9:27 pm
With the influx of Aussie stables, Baudo decides to take the lead and engage the stable owners, Trainers and Comms Directors in an important conference call. Those present include Wildething, Tania Zaetta and Kristy Hinze from Wildetime; YassieD, Tiffany Hall and Toni Collette from BronzedOz; Elle MacPherson and Kylie Minogue from Downunder; and Kimberley Davies wearing two hats, Green and Gold Magazine cheif editor and Wildetime Asst Trainer.
Baudo: Have I got you both on the line?
Wildething: I'm here.
YassieD: Present.
Baudo: What about your crews?
The rest acknowledge their presence.
Baudo: Great. Well let's get down to business. We are not here to talk about individuals. What we are here to do is agree collectively on a plan for the next 12 months.
Kylie: First and foremost, what is the AWUBA involvement in the FCBA and BBU?
Baudo: The AWUBA is essentially the breeding ground for all of us to find new talent. All Australian celebs that have an AWUBA contract will continue to fight on a monthly basis and I will update the FCBA of the results. I will ensure we invite the likes of Megan Gale, Yvonne Strahovski and Margot Robbie back for AWUBA fights as to not tarnish the relationship with the relevant stable owners.
Kimberley: Was there an issue after the last round of fights?
Baudo: No but some questions were raised about Strahovski's rankings in Australia compared to the FCBA which as we know, purely comes down to the strength of opponent here. We just need to ensure we approach every thing in a business like manner and communicate with the stables where our AWUBA fighters reside.
YassieD: Makes sense. I was as shocked as the next person to see how highly ranked she is in the FCBA. So what about AWUBA titles?
Baudo: What about them?
YassieD: Well AWUBA titles are currently determined monthly at the week long event. I assume our stables will meet at some stage and title contenders will battle. Will titles be on the line?
Baudo: This is something we need to collectively agree on. I think the title should be up for grabs if the manager of the title holder agrees. Thoughts?
Collective they all agree.
Wildething: What plans did you want to discuss today?
Baudo: Well one idea I had was to run a PPV every month just between the three Aussie stables. This will showcase the best of the best, plus the best of the AWUBA title fights, and some invitationals from the BBU or FCBA.
Elle: I'm in total agreeance here. The PPV in the north is a fantastic format and if we replicate that and fight amongst ourselves initially, the event will catch on and I am sure we will attract overseas fighters eventually.
Toni: Perhaps the AWUBA belts could be open to the world?
Tiffany: No the AWUBA belts have to remain on Aussie soil but we could certainly set up four belts especially for the PPV. Maybe an Oceanic Title?
Kristy: I have it on good authority that our counterparts in the northern hemisphere like winning titles and I am certain this would attract a lot of interest.
Baudo: I like the sound of this but how about this be a work in progress. It's a good carrot to dangle for now and we will get to work on this later.
Tania: Tell us more about the PPV Baudo.
Baudo: Simple really. We have nearly 45 Fighters between the 3 stables. A card of 8-10 fights allows 20 to fight each month. We each nominate our best fighters. Perhaps a few invites to overseas fighters as well. AWUBA title fights where necessary.
Wildething: Even if the AWUBA title contenders are not from our stables?
Baudo: Yeah, it is a great way to get the girls more exposure.
Elle: There is a lot of depth in the AWUBA as you would have witnessed whilst selecting your stables.
YassieD: So that's about 6 fights a year per fighter. Is that enough?
Sonia: Don't forget the BBU tournaments.
Kylie: Certainly. We will have the chance to nominate monthly for the BBU Tournament which adds a couple more fights a year.
YassieD: It is very generous of them to open up those titles to all involved.
Baudo: Extremely generous. Which is why our plan for the Oceanic title is such a great idea. It offers them something in return for their generosity. Imagine the next "Ashes" series with possible Oceanic titles up for grabs. Big bucks there.
Elle: Brilliant
Kristy: Don't discount the fact that your fighters may jag an FCBA fight to if they are lucky.
Kimberley: It's quite possible. Kylie and Poppy have just returned from their first FCBA fights since joining the Downunder stable. Poppy is a regular now.
Toni: So it is more like 24 fights a year per fighter if you include the monthly AWUBA event.
Baudo: Kind of, the Aussie PPV will contain some of those AWUBA fights so maybe more like 18 a year.
Tania: Any more than that and we would have a battle on our hands to get the girls ready.
Tiffany: I agree. You don't want to burn them out.
Kylie: So are we all in agreeance about a PPV format, plus inclusion in the BBU Tournments?
Everyone agrees.
Baudo: now Wildething and YassieD, how were you going to launch your stables?
Wildething: Well I don't know about YassieD but I am all for a PPV launch including all stables.
Baudo: Thats over 20 fights, big card.
YassieD: We can pull it off.
Baudo: I admit that I regret not showing all the girls off at my launch. How will we select the fights?
Wildething: How about a random ballot, controlled so the girls don't fight anyone from their own stable?
Elle: That will work for the first one, then stick to a nomination format there after.
Baudo: I like it. Let's get to work on this ballot so we can announce the very first Aussie PPV to the boxing world as soon as possible.
Kimberley: Green and Gold will make the announcement.
Baudo: Thanks girls. Talk to you all real soon. |
