This is Kelly’s FCBA debut, having fought well to beat Lisa Maffia in BBU, but this is a huge step up for her against a girl 8 years her junior, yet with far more experience. Aly is a huge favourite to win this one, and win it well – Ms Rowland will need all her skills to last the full 10 is the considered opinion of many.
Into the ring they come, and boy are they hot? Kelly is wearing a yellow bra and panties set that leaves nothing to the imagination, while Aly is wearing a similar outfit in lilac. They are two magnificent examples of the female form!
Round 1:
It’s a fairly quick start from both girls, with each of them wanting to make a statement, and Kelly hurts Aly in the first minute, cracking a lovely left hook into her mouth, and wobbling the blonde, who’s immediately backing off and skipping feverishly across the ring. What will Rowland do? The anser is clear as she proceeds to chase her girl down and beat her on the ropes, with Michalka looking like the novice in this matchup. She can’t have that though, and she uses her ringcraft to turn the older girl and push her to the ropes, banging big and hurtful shots into her body, then her face, and she’s busting the singer up already – shiny marks appear on both of Kelly’s cheeks, and the girls are both swaying a little at the bell, when they have the fans on their feet in excitement – maybe Aly did enough to steal that late on, but Kelly’s good.
Round 2:
Now Aly shows Kelly what to do, and she’s recovered from that frantic opener the better, giving the singer’s body a sound belting early on in the round, then popping her head back as she gets her on the ropes – not looking to land the big knockout blows at this stage, just content to sort the newcomer out, and make sure she’ll remember the lesson every time she looks in the mirror, with the swelling of her cheeks becoming more pronounced. Kelly isn’t throwing much leather Aly’s way, and maybe she’s given all she had to give – she’s hardly landed a punch in the whole 3 minutes, and was outskilled throughout.
Round 3:
Aly comes out strong, again seeking out those Rowland cheeks for treatment, and the singer backs away, her legs never quivering as the blonde peppers her. In fact, by the middle of the round, she’s turning things around, outpacing Aly and slapping stinging shots into her mouth, then taking her around the ring a little, dominating her and cracking two solid left hooks into her jaw. Aly responds with neat counter punching, but Kelly shows she can box, too, and that she’s got the speed of hands and thought to do a job tonight, taking a round off Aly Michalka.
Round 4:
Aly shows her class, following a disappointing round by cuffing Kelly harder to the face in the opening exchanges than she has since the closing stages of round 1, and she’s got Rowland covering up as she moves the older girl around, hurting her as well now, and thumping her nicely to the body. Kelly is a skilful competitor though, and although she’s getting outgunned in this round, she never loses her shape, keeping her gloves up, her chin tucked, and her elbows in, not showing the blonde and real targets to land on. The girls nod at each other when the bell rings – mutual respect earned, but it’s Aly who’s taking the honours at this point.
Round 5:
Aly comes on really strong right from the bell, spanking her jabs into Kelly’s waiting face, with the singer looking shocked and worn, retreating into her shell again, covering herself as best she can. Rowland needs to get out of that corner she’s backed herself into, and she does – the BBU girl fires back into Michalka, just bouncing jabs and hooks off her pretty face, smacking her nicely around the body to follow, then really nailing her to the belly. Aly’s hurt, and she gets tagged to the jaw by a swift one two from Kelly, knocking the actress backwards and spawling her on the ropes – Aly looks vulnerable, and Kelly works her over bigtime, smashing punches into her head, trying to finish the girl off, splitting her nose open, and really just about leaving her draped at the bell.
Round 6:
A very shaky Aly Michalka rumbles across the ring off her stool, and she gets it again from Kelly, the singer just humping punches into her face, jabbing her and hooking her – Aly is backed up to the ropes again, and Kelly flips in the right uppercut, lands it right on the chin. Aly doesn’t go down, but she’s no longer protecting herself from Kelly – the refree steps in, and it’s over!
Kelly Rowland stopped Aly Michalka in round 6.
Kelly is jumping with joy, whooping and hollering and stomping around the ring, giving her arch-rival Tulisa Contostovlos a glare, but generally enjoying her victory. Aly is desolate at first, her corner starting to protest, but the girl just sits on her stool, wondering where she went wrong, and how she could have lost to a rookie like this.
