To answer a request I've received few weeks ago, here's the next edition of BBU International.

Event: Italian Lightweight Championship bout
Location: Mediolanum Forum, Milan

The search for the next great international celebrity boxer from Italy after the likes of Monica Bellucci and Anna Falchi have hanged thier gloves up for good begins in Milan with the Italian Lightweight Championship bout between singer Laura Pausini and model Elisabetta Canalis. Both women are confident that a potential victory will enable them joining the BBU ranks for an extended period of time in the near future.

Pausini (age: 37) stands in at 5'6.5" and weighs 127 lbs with Canalis (age: 33) at 5'7" and 122 lbs respectively. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.

Round 1:
There's no clear favorite in this bout as both women seem to match each other on tale of the tape. The level of aggresison and determination might swing this one in somebody's favor though. Canalis begins more lively, throwing some jabs to her opponents head, but Pausini moves well across the ring and prevents herself from being hit. Canalis moves forward once more and tries a good looking combination to the guts, but her opponent blocks it off before jabbing in response and sending the model into defensive. It's time for Pausini to launch a solid attack but her jabs crash against Canalis' guard and the round ends with both women clinching along the ropes. No one has gained any significant advantage so far.

Round 2:
Canalis goes out from her stool in more attacking mood and steps in on the singer, trying to bury her under a barrage of punches. A couple of jabs land on Pausini's nose and she jumps back along the ropes as Canalis squares up to her. She lands a solid hook to the ribs before a vicious uppercut catches Laura in the nose. Down goes Pausini!!! Referee begins the count but the singer is quickly up at five and throws a death stare at her opponent. Elisabetta smiles in delight and looks to finish her rival off, but can't make it stick soon enough. Her efforts crash against Pausini's guard and the fruitless boxing continues for another few seconds before she realizes that she can punch like that all day and Laura won't go down again! Canalis backs away with Pausini still covered behind her guard before jabbing in response although not making too much progress. The round ends and Elisabetta has taken the advantage.

Round 3:
There's a mean look on Pausini's face during the interval. She was briefly stunned by that knockdown, but looks fired up before the third. Indeed, she produces her most aggressive approach to date as she storms out of her stool and catches her opponent by surprise. A couple of low hooks to the ribs push the model on the back foot, before Laura peppers her breasts in vigorous fashion. Canalis tries to cover up but Laura rocks her with another low hook to the midsection. It's all about the singer now as Elisabetta looks very slow on her fit and exposed to some brutal punches from the older woman. Pausini continues her rout, pummeling Canalis' body and stomach but can't get through the guard and make significant damage to the model's face. She pushes her into the corner where Canalis clinches and survives the final minute of this round. Laura has pulled one round back though.

Round 4:
Slightly worried by Pausini's moment of fury in the third, Elisabetta begins this round covered behind a high guard but Laura still has none of it and steps forward without any invitation. She keeps brawling around the model throwing nasty jabs and hooks to the body. Elisabetta finally gets frustrated by this onslaught and drops the guard before engaging in a fierce bust up in the middle of the ring. As a result, a couple of big hooks land on Pausini's head but Laura responds with a mammoth swipe to the guts that forces Elisabetta to bend down and moan in pain. Another big hook to the side of the head sends Canalis down on her knees halfway through the round!!! Referee begins the count, but the model beats it with ease at six and it's her turn to get really annoyed while Laura smiles back in response and nods her head in approval. Elisabetta tries to jump up to her rival as quickly as possible, but Laura circles away from danger and keeps her at distance. More frustrated jabbing from the model enables Laura to easily keep this round in her favor as the momentum begins to shift.

Round 5:
Sudden rage of fury from Canalis to start the fifth but a number of her jabs are blocked off by Laura's guard. The singer responds with another hook to the stomach and begins to work on the model's midsection with a lot of attention. Elisabetta tries to clinch herself out of trouble but Laura ducks her head below the model's chins and pushes her along the ropes. Canalis' longer reach is being neutralized as Pausini keeps pounding her below the elbows and causing more pain. Elisabetta begins to moan in pain and looks at the referee to break the alleged clinch, but the man in charge shakes his head. Laura still keeps pounding her and move across the ropes right against the corner post. Canalis has lost a lot of strenght in that exchange and keeps struggling to protect her guts. Pausini leans on her and peppers her on the breasts again and agains. Elisabetta winces in pain before another hook the ribs really pulls the plug on her. Down goes Canalis in the corner!!! Referee begins the count.. the model is on her knees at five... and gets up at seven... her eyes look shaky and the ref takes a good glance at them... He allows her to continue!!! Laura though this one was over right there and then!!! She jumps on her rival straight away but a massive stiff jab misses the target as Elisabetta somehow managed to swerve her head away from that haymaker. She leans on Pausini who is now unable to work her quick jabbing technique and is pushed back to center of the ring for good. There a brief and fruitless struggle occurs and as the ref jumps in to separate them, the bell ends this round with Pausini underlining her advantage and Canalis on the verge of being put away for good.

Round 6:
Elisabetta is breathing very heavily during the interval, she took a lot of pounding in the fifth with Laura mercilessly punching her in the stomach. Laura looks joyful in her corner and immediately after the bell, she begins to hassle the model once again. A quick flurry of jabs push Canalis back against the ropes, a big stiff jab crashes against her gloves at first, but another quick swing to the ribs lands below the elbow and chops down the remains of Elisabetta's confidence. Laura moved on her, pins her against the ropes and starts to work over her face, a big left hook cuts the model's lip wide open... another right hook lands her on the... Canalis desperately tries to cover up but Pausini is breaking through it at will and it's not a pretty sight... Canalis rooted to the spot taking a lot of punishment and not responding back whatsoever... Another big jab to the nose and the knees finally give way... Down goes Canalis for the third time and the ref has seen enough and doesn't even bother to start the count... Elisabetta barely landed a single punch in the sixth and the fight is over.... TKO R6 Laura Pausini, the new Italian Lightweight Champion!!!

Post-fight:
Laura walks around the ring in delight but stops for a moment as her opponent is finally brought up to her feet after a lengthy period. Both women shake hands and there's not much malice between them after the fight. Elisabetta's lip has been split wide open and there's a bleeding from her nose as well. It was pretty ruthless display from Pausini in the last three rounds after she struggled a lot early on and was surprised in the second round herself. However Canalis lacked the finishing touch and allowed Pausini to regain her composure and couldn't withstand the onslaught thrown at her afterwards.

Both women will be looking for getting some BBU exposure in the future as guest boxers during several events that are planned by the UK based organization. Canalis has stated she can go down to bantamweight if neccessary to gain as much opportunities as possible.

Final result: Laura Pausini def. Elisabetta Canalis TKO6.
