Before: Rutherford best known as “Ali Landry’s Whipping Girl”--blonde returning to the FCBA with a new weight class, new attitude, new TV show and a new lease on life. “I was very depressed after being handled by Ali over and over again,” Kelly  admits in BLONDE! Magazine. “there just didn’t seem to one any way I could compete with her. I was out of boxing, but when I got ‘Threat Matrix’, the network wanted to know if I’d be interested in developing an FCBA profile to promote the show. I realized there was more to the world than Ali Landry--just because I couldn’t beat her, didn’t mean I couldn’t take care of a lot of girls. At lightweight, I think I’m sort of the blonde Cat Bell--just a lot headier and more technically sound than most of the fighters. I’m sure looking forward to making my comeback against Karen for sure.” Cliche in leopard print bikini, Rutherford in classy black bikini, hair back in smooth battle bun.

During R1: Cliche with good scouting non Rutherford, denies the blonde orderly battle on the outside, crowding Kelly with roping, strapping blows about the waist. and hips. Cliche leaning forward, keeping her chin out over Kelly’s shoulder, licking and lifting her fists up into the blonde, stepping with her along the ropes, Smothering points for Cliche.

R2: Rutherford sorting her girl out with the jab, getting a little distance midring, Kelly sitting back on her right foot, right hand at her mouth--she finally gets all of Karen’s chin with a greasy right cross, putting Cliche wobbly butt at the midway point, Karen grabby when hurt, bogging Kel down in a series of clinches, ref issuing constant breaks to the bell. Neither girl with the hand speed or cute footwork of the A fighters in the division, but it’s good solid fare, both are thinking in there, showing good form.

R3: Rutherford stalking, using her jab to the center of Karen’s chest, coming over top with that fluid right. Cliché in retreat, respectful of Kelly’s sock--brunette walking Kelly into clinches--it’s a real grab-fest through 3.

R4: Cliche pulls even on  the cards with another uptempo, swarming attack around. Rutherford sliding with her back to the ropes, can’t get the brunette off her chest. Karen with that ropey, Eric Harding-style delivery on the inside--laying ion Kelly while strapping thick licks up into the lungs, across the breadbasket, out around the hip. Cliche using a brawny shoulder-bump to jostle Rutherford, reset for more punching--good steady brunette pressure bell to bell.

R5: Rutherford re-establishing HER will, jabbing, spreading Karen out midring, lining her up for long right hands on the chin. Cliche often dismayed by the power Kelly’s showing from the right side, but brunette crafty, stepping back, luring blonde in, ducking and coming up underneath with strong wrapping clinches to prevent sustained blonde rallies,

R6: Rutherford SCORCHES Cliché’s chin early, sending Karen staggering sideways into the ropes--Kelly gets her chance to clean up on Cliche. Karen hurt, stooped over from the ropes, ear muffed up--blonde’s getting a long, clean look at the ribs and torso, snatching punches in behind the elbows, bodying up on Karen to get her upright, the galloping to the midsection both dukes. Steady, patient wallop administered--Karen listless, soaking it up as Kelly stays busy, but within herself, just keeping it on her girl bell to bell.

R7: Credit Cliche--mugged in the sixth, she shakes it off, finds a way to complicate Kelly’s life again in the 7th. Punch n clutch from cagey Karen--she’s nipping Kelly right hands on the way in, wrapping her up walking her to ropes, mauling her in the clinches. Kelly being outworked--she’s waiting for breaks--Cliche is getting her hands free on the inside and stroking breadbasket for points.

R8: Cliche swarming, hugging, bodying up, frustrating Kelly and picking spots to outwork the blonde. Kelly never hurt, but Cliche the busier girl, crowding Kelly, keeping up that lashing lather amidships, holding her when necessary.

R9: Cliche continues to get her way, crowding Kelly, slopping home the hurt with loose-limbed stroke downstairs, Rutherford open-mouthed, pushing Karen off, but not slugging as effectively as she might--she’s waiting for the perfect conditions instead of imposing them on Karen.

R10: Early jabbage has Karen upright, leaning away--Rutherford able to dive forward with a searing right to the chin to unlock brunette knees. Kelly consolidating with robust ribwork--keeping her cheek outside Karen’s left shoulder, clouting midriff short lefts and rights, using the extended left elbow to get Cliche ropeside, All Rutherford once Karen’s back hits the strands--blonde crouching, twisting left to pull her right hand into Karen, back the other way to swing home the left. Good tuff palming and propping--Kelly able to keep hands free, turn over hooks and uppercuts at close range, steadily whittling away on the Cliche defence. Karen sits ropeside, soaking it up--she finishes up bruised, hands at temples, hurting. Comes back a hard fought draw to a chorus of boos  from the pro-Rutherford crowd.

After: “Blonde Cat Bell” can’t get it done--Cliche surviving, selecting good tactics and punches to work on Rutherford--Karen upbeat, chatty with associates as she towels off. Rutherford tight lipped and disappointed--she landed all the power shots, won the majority of minutes overall, had some nice shutout stanzas, but showed her “B” celeb pedigree in not closing this thing out.
