The final fight of the evening – and a strange one! I don’t know how Kimberley Davies got this fight – she’s 38 and surely over the hill? She beat Liz Hurley in Australia, but with the greatest of respect to Liz, who I know has just beaten Katy Perry, she’s middle-aged for goodness sake. If Sabrina catches Kimberley early, I don’t see this lasting long.

Kimberley’s in the ring – ah – green and gold bikini! Very patriotic from the Australian! And here’s Sabrina, looking trim, I must say – red bikini with white polkadots – not her usual style at all!

Round 1

Moment of truth now – is Kimberley a true contender? She’s started well, and belies her age with a swift little flurry of punches into Sabrina’s face – the singer looks flustered – she didn’t expect that! Kim’s going well, ripping at Sabrina there with two good shots to the bod, and this is good stuff from the challenger – she’s not the bimbo I thought she was, and she’s got the champ on the ropes, hits her fine in the tummy – but back comes Sabrina – she hurt Kim then with a hard punch to the mouth, and she’d repeated it there – there’s the right hook, and Kim says hello to the canvas in the first round! The blonde’s on her feet now, up at 7, but the round’s lost, and she knows it – nothing she can do, and Sabrina’s hurt her to the body there, too – Kim’s struggling at the bell.

Round 2

Sabrina might finish this off real quick! She’s wading into Kim, but the blonde’s doing well again here – she’s keeping herself mobile and she’s clipping the champ round the face – big surprise to me, but Kim’s a pretty good boxer! She’s making Sabrina look a bit of a mug right now, and she’s hitting her again and again, not big punches, but they all count on the scorecard, and the Brit’s getting angry. Sabrina lunged in there, missed, and got caught – in fact, got hurt – Kim just pasted a right hand in Sabrina’s mouth, and the singer’s on the wobble in the ring – this is crazy! Kim Davies is giving Sabrina a beating on the ropes in round 2, and I don’t think she knows how to stop her! That’s the bell, and her corner is furious with her!

Round 3

The girls are at each other quickly – and Sabrina seems back in control – good punch from the singer has Kimberley snaking back, and she’s already trying to keep out of the champ’s way, those lovely legs haven’t lost any muscletone over the years, and she’s still a mobile individual! But Sabrina’s moved her to the ropes, and she’s starting to work to her body, throws a good left to the gut, and – oh, good right hand from Kim Davies – Sabrina’s hurt! Another right hand – she’s down! Sabrina Washington on the canvas in 3, and that’s great work from the 38 year-old! The singer’s on her feet at 6, shaking her head, and fighting on, but Kim’s got to be pleased with that, and Sabrina’s not wanting to get involved now – she’s defending and letting Kim chase her and do all the work – but Kimberley’s on top in this fight!

Round 4

Here we go again – and Kim’s right in Sabrina’s face and she caught her again with that stunning right hand – Sabrina took it though, but she’s having to defend herself on the ropes as the Australian lays into her midsection, and the champ holds to stop the onslaught. Kim’s looking good – she’s dominated this round, and she hit Sabrina again then – but fair play to the champ –she’s fighting back, coming off the ropes, and giving Kimberley a big hook to the body, and one to the jaw, and Kim’s got to be careful! Another fine punch there from Sabrina and Kimberley’s the one looking to hold – the champ won’t let her, just pushes her back, hits her again, right in the solar plexus, and Kim’s gasping for air – not long to go, and she takes a beating now, three, four shots to the face, and her eyes are rolling her head beginning to get whacked sideways – that’s the bell, and Sabrina took a big round back.

Round 5

Kimberley’s a little slower out this time – she’s feeling the pace, I fancy! Yep! Sabrina’s catching her with more punches this round as she becomes a little more hittable – she needs to protect herself there, as the champ pitches into her body, just sapping the blonde’s energy with heavy punches, really wearing her down. Kim’s hurt, and she’s showing it, I’m afraid! Sabrina hit her in the gut with a hard right, and the Aussie’s squealing as the champ smacks those big shots into her – and she’s not moving! Sabrina’s got her transfixed, and she nailed her with a left to the mouth – Davies goes down! Poor woman, just slid down the ropes – she’s getting up, but she’s not with it poor cow – up at 8, but she’s used up, and this isn’t good news for her! Sabrina hits her to the body, and again – aww, she’s really hurt – left hook to the jaw! Over! Kimberley Davies is just flat out on her back, legs open, arms above her head – I think ‘starfished’ is the expression!

Sabrina Washington knocked Kimberley Davies out in round 5 to retain the BBU Welterweight title.

Sabrina overcame an opponent who I think surprised everyone tonight, but I’d like to see her up against a more plausible challenge next time around – maybe Michelle Bridges or Sarah Murdoch?
