Troian Bellisario (Garnet Gunners UK) continues to tease both European and US markets and the turn of the year offers her a largely unknown challenge from Sophie Monk (BronzedOz Boxing) who has spend her entire career on home soil with only one international appearance to date against fellow Aussie Holly Valance over two years ago.

Bellisario remains very optimistic about her future:

"2011 was only a start for me. I always wanted to make it big in the States, but it's hard to even stick your foot in the door there. I'm riding along with BBU again, but sooner rather than later I'll be switching FCBA full-time. I need to make some deals for three or four fights at least, I'm hoping my quick win over Monk will be a further step towards the ultimate goal.

I have no idea what Monk has being doing Down Under, I've checked the latest ACB rankings and she's pretty low there, so I guess even her compatriots don't rate her well. No way she goes the distance with me tonight."

The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.

Round 1:

Bellisario looks for a strong opening, jabbing ferociously at her rival who has no time to blend in with the conditions. Troian throws big shots and forces Sophie to cover up early before pushing her to the ropes altogether and landing a nasty hook to the midsection. Bellisario almost over her head with aggression, leans on her rival and tries to literally push her through the ropes and Sophie wraps her arms around her neck and tries to stop the brunette's flow for a moment. Bellisario unmoved though, flanks the blonde in the ribs before Sophie headbutts her in the eye! Ref steps in and gives the Aussie an angry warning! Bellisario livid in her corner, charges out immediately after the command and tries to deliver more punishment. Sophie weaves around the ropes and avoids most punches, keeping the distance until late in the round when Troian finally traps her in the corner and lands a couple of big jabs to the chest which force the blonde to cover up again. Belissario jumps in on her and unloads more nasty hooks to the ribs and stomach as Sophie hangs on until the bell. Both girls give each other a massive death stare which has the ref watching them extra carefully during the interval and Bellisario's wrath is truly overwhelming, she didn't expect to be a victim of a cheap shot like that; no respect from Monk whatsoever.

Round 2:

Both girls jump from their stools quickly and despite a lousy opening round Monk isn't holding anything back! She lands a solid combination to the face which Troian barely was able to cover for and jumps in with the follow up targeting the brunette's stomach. Few quick and sharp jabs land on Bellisario's midsection and the American is forced to back away for the first time. Monk continues coming forward, pushes the brunette against the ropes, but she's not able to really hurt Bellisario who holds her guard well and forces the blonde into some futile punching for a while. Sophie leans on the brunette and they clinch; ref separates them and it's Bellisario who lands a nasty hook right on the eye immediately after the command. Sophie's head snapped backwards and she's lost all the momentum now. Troian steps in on her and pummels her stomach with a quick jabbing sequence, Monk tries to jump away but loses the footing and nearly stumbled over. Bellisario quickly takes advantage again and lands another big left hook to the eye. Sophie soft on her knees, rooted to the spot, just covers up in agony and there's the haymaker! Troian blasted a crushing hook to the jaw and down goes the blonde on her back!!! Ref starts the count and Monk is dazed at seven but gets up regardless! She's checked and wants to continue. Troian not impressed, the fight is not over yet! Immediately after the command, Sophie jumps away to the ropes and forces the brunette to chase her around. Bellisario's even more upset but shakes her head and allows the Aussie to survive this round. She's drawn the first blood, if not literally, and Monk looks slightly concerned during the interval.

Round 3:

Troian charges out of her stool and squares up to the blonde seconds into the third. Sophie was looking to bide her time early on, but she's not quick enough across the ring to prevent the American from closing the distance. Bellisario pours in with several jabs to the midsection, Sophie throws some single punches in response but despite those landing on Troian's face, the brunette looks almost bulletproof and completely unfazed. In turn, she backs the blonde to the ropes and starts to make a mush out of her tummy. Sophie's moans are getting louder and louder as Troian presses forward with her attacks. Just minute into the third and Monk bends forward in agony and gets nailed in the ear with a massive hook. She wobbles on her feet and Bellisario lands another quick jab from the other side that catches her straight in the nose. Down goes the blonde on her knees and she spits out her mouthpiece in the process!!! Ref not impressed, starts the count and despite Sophie getting up at eight, he's angry and deducts her one point for illegal foul. Will it matter at all though? Sophie raises her gloves, but looks very second-hand now, her nose starts to bleed and Troian steps on her pinning the aching blonde to the corner post. There's no way to escape for the Aussie and she tries to clinch, but Bellisario in much better shape, underlines her physical strength by shoving the blonde away and rocking her head with a flurry of jabs to the face. One.. two.. three.. make that four punches make a mess of Sophie's nose... she's rooted to the spot and it's getting ugly... Troian signs off with a couple of jabs to the boobs and that's all over for Sophie, ref steps in and spares her a thunderclap knockout! TKO R3 Troian Bellisario!!!

Post-fight:

Blood pouring from Monk's busted up nose, she'll need a lot of tampons to stop that one. Troian Bellisario checks on her and as the Aussie tries to turn away, she gets dragged by the arm and the brunette is right up there whispering to her ear "That's what you get for trying the cheap shots. Remember that one, ugly cow". Sophie looks stone cold, but there's nothing she can do about the humiliation she's suffered tonight. Bellisario's entourage eventually drag her away to their corner and Troian immediately makes her way out of the ring. It's almost like she considered this fight a done deal well before it started.

To her credit, Sophie Monk tried to perform at her best and engaged in few combinations but she was overwhelmed by Troian's strength and physical shape in the end. If she wants to build on her international reputation, fighting the likes of Bellisario isn't the best way to do it and could only lead into the obscurity level. One suspects Monk would like to be considered a much better fighter than that.

Final result: Troian Bellisario def. Sophie Monk TKO3.
