BOXING AFTER DARK

Before: Vegas is all about Zeta-Jones - "opponent" Tylo no where to be seen on posters or other fight promotion - just one of many motivational factors for Hunter coming in to the fight. Girls possess similar look in the ring - both like to stand in the pocket, get close, get off with compact delivery, and both have a stunning, short right hand that other fighters don't pick up very well. Jones has heard the comparisons and isn't amused, "One doesn't race a Ford against a Jaguar," she quips. Jones in classy black bandeau two piece, hair up in smooth french roll, Hunter in classy black bra style two piece, low ponytail.

R1: As expected, not a lot of movement - girls get comfortably close, then trust their reflexes as they feint, block, and get off in short, sharp bursts. Midway through, Jones gets a break, beating Tylo to stroking hook on the jaw, immediately taking advantage with that chopping right and Hunter's hurt. Jones steps right, puts punches together off Tylo's left shoulder, bashing away to the belly, breasts and head to beat Hunter to the ropes. Gets worse down the stretch as Tylo goes glassy eyed, starts to suffer badly as Jones connect percentage skyrockets. Catherine squared up, snarling as she unleashes - savage hacking punches rip through the guard, tearing up Hunter's face, clouting her breasts - Tylo shaky legged, pushing her arms straight out is in total disarray. Hunter beaten to her knees at the bell - Zeta-Jones stoops to lavish the girl's vulnerable back with a clubbing right before the ref can intercede.

R2: Jones imperious, strutting into Hunter, jabbing the girl to the ropes, then getting her body behind a shoving short right hand to the pit of the stomach to start the festivities. Jones in her element - Hunter all hurting and sullen, covering up, stooped forward - Cathy can position her head outside either Tylo shoulder, jerk in abrupt combinations, and slowly break her girl down. Workmanlike domination from Jones bell to bell, sends Tylo distraught to her corner for the breeak.

R3: Girls meet midring, touch each other with jabs, hack in right hands and Jones comes up startled as Tylo licks her cheek hard. Hunter with a left shoulder bump, shoots another right to the face and gets Jones going backward - all Tylo as she stays close, steps with Catherine and keeps the heat on. Hunter bullying Jones up against the ropes as Catherine forced to cover up and take - Tylo stuffing a hard right to Jones belly - all body behind the shot, working around Catherine's guard with swiping left/rights. Hunter happy to be working Jones over - can't stop herself at the bell as she chops up the gut with a chugging combination to force referee intervention.

R4: Tylo out strong again, employing bump and shoot very effectively - Jones can't fight backing up. Catherine senses urgency and reacts like a veteran, dipping her shoulder and pumping a hook to Tylo's crotch to bring the soapstar to a shuddering halt. Ref gives Hunter a moment - Catherine catches her breath as well - action resumes on even footing as the girls hunker down shoulder to shoulder, trading short, clubbing bursts inside, each trying to work an opening for the slicing right to the chin.

R5: Hunter jabbing from too far out - Zeta-Jones gives ground early, but she's gauging the punch and midway through a sharp right counter catches Tylo's chin clean. Hunter crumbling to all fours as if shot - she beats the count, but she's ruined. Jones climbs aboard and it's ugly stuff the rest of the way. Jones mauling a brave, but battered Hunter Tylo all along the ropes - Catherine pushing up with her shoulder, chugging to the midriff, chopping to the face, stepping with the soap-girl as Tylo wilts around the ring. Hunter beaten into stupor by the bell - Catherine has the girl's right arm all tied up, just jamming away with spiteful right hands to the jugs way late - Tylo just staring in response as the ref moves in.

R6: Hunter pushing back leather - but her feet are squared up, no leverage on these shots - she's hurting and desperate. Jones still tightly professional, victimizing Tylo's misses, getting underneath to do vicious work to the midriff, then putting together chopping combinations to the face to force Hunter into staggering retreat. Up against the ropes - more one sided abuse - Tylo with her mitts dumb at her mouth, eyes forlorn as she takes another clubbing beat down. Jones taking liberties with her foe - pumping routine right hands low to the trunks, wrapping up Hunter's right arm and slamming away with short right hands to the breasts and body - Tylo dazed, punished, unresisting. Ringsiders start jeering the ref who's being awfully brave with Hunter's condition in this fight.

R7: Sleepy Tylo pushing out more exhausted punches - crisp Jones blocking, then chopping back with decisive shots to head and body, steadily beating Hunter to the ropes. Another grim assault develops - Catherine gutting Tylo with pumping lefts and rights to the belly and trunks, then wrapping the girl up to prevent her from going to her knees. Out of the left arm wrap, Catherine casually holds and hits, pulling her right hand repeatedly into Hunter's breadbasket and ruined face - Hunter spluttering, trying to clinch, but simply getting battered at this point. Bell rings - Jones can't wipe the smile off her face as she props a devastated Hunter Tylo up in her arms, gives the girl a spiteful kiss on one badly swollen cheek. Tylo can't make it out for the 8th - quitting on her stool in shock - TKO7 Catherine Zeta-Jones.

After: Jones all the way back with this performance, absolutely demoralizing and brutalizing a game, but outgunned Tylo on the evening. Catherine helping herself to Tylo's dignity afterwards, pulling the battered brunette off her stool for a walk of shame - Jones waving grandly while guiding Hunter around the ring with a hand behind the girl's waist.
