Lioness Club’s bantam champion Jessica Schwarz claims to be eager to fight Team Canada’s Erica Cerra: “I hear she is a tough girl. Good. I like my opponents tough. It makes it so much better when I break them.” Cerra keeps her cool saying: “I am not that easy to break--as she will find out--the hard way.

R1: Bell rings and the fighters head straight for each other. Jessica moves in ready to pressure the Canadian when Erica shoots a straight right into the center of the champ’s face. German girl comes to a stunned halt and Erica NAILS Jessica with a one-two off the jaw and JESSICA SCHWARZ IS DOWN! Crowd shocked as Jessica lays on her back looking suddenly helpless. Erica crisply steps back to neutral corner. Jessica gets to her feet but she looks glassy-eyed. Ref lets the fight resume and Erica comes right back at the hurt champion. Jessica whacked hard to head, back and torso, but keeps on her feet, covering up up and retreating to ropes. Erica dances around the champion with sheets of punches, but Jessica rides it out to the bell, though she’s looking very lumped up for this early in a fight. Erica Cerra looking pleased with herself.

R2: Jessica comes out clearly determined to get in this fight. She lets Erica come and then shoots out a solid jab that makes the Team Canada challenger pay for her aggression. Still, Erica keeps up the pressure and pounds away at Jessica’s waistline. Champ finally forced to hunch up to protect her body, but Schwarz bounces a good shot off Cerra’s skull to put a wobble in challenger’s movements. Both girls clinch to gain some breathing space, but Erica gets in a couple of good uppercuts to belly to draw grunts of pain from Schwarz,

R3: Erica and Jessica fall in shoulder to shoulder at midring and bang away. Erica shifts her attack to head, but Jessica while initially punching to jaw, shifts to a torso attack and Erica’s ribs take a lot of punishment as the two start circling around each other. Very nice two-way action and things seem to be even until late in the round. Jessica’s working on Cerra’s ribs finally gets the Canadian to drop her guard down and POW! The Champ lands a right uppercut to the chin that goes through Erica Cerra like an electric shock and sends her staggering away on legs turned to rubber. Jessica tries to pursue, grabs Erica by the shoulders and flings her back against ropes. Haymaker left crunches into Erica’s jaw as referee jumps in and sternly lectures German on following the rules. Jessica looks steamed as Erica lolls against ropes trying to pull her scramble wits together. Fight resumes but Jessica’s chance has past and Erica goes to cover-up defense to get to the bell.

R4: Erica not looking good as she comes out for this round. Jessica quick to try to put more pressure on her challenger, but Erica summons up the heart to meet the attack with a solid jab and good defense. Jessica then starts moving and Erica has to follow. Jessica able to land to occasional good shot to flanks and a ringing shot to Canadian head, but mostly she just keeps Cerra moving, moving, moving, trying to keep up.

R5: Erica starting to look tired and Jessica resumes the battle of movement designed to make the Canadian increasingly leg weary. Erica decides to stop playing this game by clinching and hitting Jessica’s belly in close. Schwarz not liking this, finally backs off and Erica seems to be encouraged, though the round itself is another Jessica Schwarz.

R6: Erica comes out swinging and lands HARD to Jessica’s head obliging the champ to get her gloves up high in protection. Just what Erica wants: a clear shot at Schwarz body and she really goes to town with meaty shots to the belly and wide cracking shots off the ribs. Jessica hurting, lashes out and catches Erica on the mouth knocking the challenger back several steps. Jessica follows with driving lefts and rights to Erica’s face, splitting her lips and bringing blood from her nose. Erica grits her teeth and counters with driving shots of her own and now Schwarz’s nose is spurting crimson! Two bang away with blood and sweat drops flying! They are just pulverizing one another! Suddenly blasting left hook to Jessica’s jaw twists her head around and then a right cross snaps her head back. JESSICA GOES OUT! Last two punches knock the champion out cold and Jessica Schwarz corkscrews to the canvas in a smoking heap. Erica Cerra pushed back by ref is a bloody mess herself but she raises her arms in victory as the official counts Jessica out.

The Winner and NEW BBU Bantaweight Champion is Erica Cerra in a brutal KO6.

After: Erica collapses into the arms of her corner people. It appears that either girl could have gone down in that final flurry, but it was Erica who landed the KO punches. Jessica Schwarz bitterly disappointed when she is revived on her stool and insists “Erica Cerra was lucky--that’s all--lucky!” Erica refuses to be baited says in response: “I am not interested in what she says--I won and that’s a fact she can’t dodge.”
