Bantamweight undercard of the BBU Spring PPV features a clash between two experienced girls, the somewhat unlucky Nicola Robers (Kear's Kats) who can't seem to buy a break in her career with just two wins in eight bouts and Billie Piper (Girls Friday), making her comeback to BBU after over a year away from the organization. Piper has flirted with FCBA for most part of her career but has not fought since September and it will be interesting to see what she can produce after such an extended lay-off period.

Round 1:
Cautious start from both girls, Piper hasn't fought for eight months, but Roberts was last active back in January and also looks rusty. Single jabs from Piper catch some flesh but Nicola circles around confidently, throwing single strikes in response. Billie ducks and weaves around them, tries some shots to the head, but there's no coming through. Roberts with some wild swings, visible power behind them, but too predictable and Billie leaps to the side in avoidance. Nicola on the front foot, works more jabs to the chest, nifty uppercut goes wayward though and Piper forces a clinch. Quick jabs in the clinch to the redhead's ribcage and Nicola shoves the blonde to the ropes before ref can separate them. Big right hook from Roberts but Billie stops that and responds with low series of jabs to the midsection. Nicola jumps away and circles back but Billie doesn't chase her around before the round is over.

Round 2:
Nicola steps in, throws a solid combo to the ribs herself, but Billie cracks a left hook to the mouth and forces the redhead back. Roberts barks in anger, looks more aggressive of the two, clearly sensing a big opportunity rising tonight given Piper's lenghty lay-off period. Unmoved by that hook, she comes forward again, Billie just dances around the ropes, waiting for the redhead's charge. Chaotic looking shots from Nicola, she desperately tries to connect with the blonde's flesh, but only wastes her energy as Piper's footwork is far superior. You could sense Roberts being capable of sending her down with a big haymaker, but she doesn't come close to landing it. Nicola begins to tire late in the round after her repeatedly fruitless efforts and is visibly upset at the bell. She's breathing quite heavily already, that's worrying because there's a long way to go in this one.

Round 3:
Piper glued to the ropes, expects more attacks from the redhead, but Nicola thinks better of it, pauses in center of the ring herself. Crowd doesn't like this one, very passive display from both girls and the fight hardly fulfills the PPV standards. Loud whistles around the BBU Arena, but Billie shows little intentions of going forward. Nicola looks in better shape, catches her breath back and leaps after yje blonde rival. Wild slaps from the redhead and Piper covers up, blocking this attack before jumping to the side. Big left hook from Roberts finally inflicts some damage as she catches the cumbersome blonde in the cheek. Follow up from the right goes nowhere and Piper cracks a half-uppercut to the jugs as the girls trigger some action along the ropes. More attacks from Roberts, she keeps firing away at the blonde's midsection, throws one to the face and Billie's on the back foot. Single jabs from Nicola, she backs the blonde against the ropes and whacks her in the ribcage before another solid hook to the mouth rocks Piper again. Billie can't do much against the redhead's high intensity and covers up for remainder of the round, taking more jabs to the midsection in the proccess. Roberts punches the air in delight at the bell, a very impressive round for the redhead singer, somewhat against the odds!

Round 4:
Unsurprisingly the redhead looks to build on her performance, steps up to the continuously cumbersome blonde and whacks her couple of times in the head, Piper had that covered though and responds with a driving series to the midsection, half-uppercut to the breasts forces Nicola back but Billie misses a crucial hooking follow-up to the chin and both girls clinch in the middle of the ring. Ref shoves them away and Billie leaps up to the redhead throwing nasty shots to the head. Roberts ducks and weaves around them, goes low with her response, catches the blonde in the ribs with a heavy right hook but Piper cleans her in the cheek with a left hook herself. Both girls stunned, Nicola backs away as Billie fails to follow up on her actions. Slow circles from the redhead, Billie tries to ignite some pace, but it's too late to make any difference now and the chance goes begging.

Round 5:
Nicola kicks off the fifth round slower than all the previous ones and this time Piper closes her down quickly, firing from both flanks to the midsection. Redhead covers up and avoids a menacing uppercut to the chin before throwing a left hook to the face herself. Piper weaves around that and finds a way through with more jabs to the ribcage. Nicola pushed back against the ropes, offers single strikes in response, but gets tamed by the blonde, girls exchange some serious leather in the corner but it's Piper who ticks off Roberts' defence by another jab to the mouth. Left/right combo to the ribs follows and for the first time the redhead looks in real trouble, just taking an unanswered punishment. Billie not exactly a speedo expert, clinically strikes her rival in the stomach before rocking her guard with another measured hook to the head. Nicola's just happy to survive until the bell and allthough she escapes a knockdown, the fight has gone ugly for her in the past six minutes.

Round 6:
Billie still on the move, hassles the heavy-breathing rival across the ring as Nicola looks for some respite, but can't get any at the moment. Quick jabbing series catches her in the midsection again as Piper jumps away and can only offer a smile back at Roberts who's counter hook harmlessly cuts the air. Billie moves to the right, sets up her foe with more single jabs to the body, throws in a hook from the left and Nicola's footwork lets her down again, she can't escape from the striking distance in time, Billie slides in with a piledriver to the breasts, cuts through the gloves and literally pinches the redhead against the ropes. Piper on a mission!!! Left hook to the head freezes Nicola and a big uppercut from the right snaps her head back. Roberts on the ropes, struggles to cover herself up anymore, another left jab to the mouth and Nicola almost bends over between the ropes. Jabbing sequence to the stomach, Roberts lowers her arms and somehow protects her tummy as Billie literally gets too close and misses a haymaker to the cheek, only grazes thge ear as she crashes against the stunned rival. What a let-off for Nicola who immediately pounces on the opportunity and clinches in despair. Ref steps in but Roberts has none of it, leans on the blonde and once again looks happy just to survive. Blatant gamesmanship from the redhead but the bell does help her just as the ref finally released Billie from her claws. Blonde barks in anger and looks to be on verge of breaking down but Nicola ignores her death stare and walks slowly back to her stool. Tempers are set to flare in the remaining rounds...

Round 7:
Piper's initial charge gets blocked off, Nicola expected this one and held the guard rock-solid as the blonde whacked a couple of hooks to the head to no avail. Left jab laces the blonde in the face, careless from Billie as Roberts is far from being done here. More jabs to the head from the redhead, Billie jumps back to the ropes but Nicola's follow up is slow and fruitless. Billie circles around her; single jabs from the side keep her at bay though and Roberts steps back, dropping her gloves alltogether. Piper fakes some punches, but remains on the back foot as well. Single shots from Roberts follow, but Billie's quicker on her feet and escapes trouble. She leaps forward after few second though and looks to land a stiff jab to the mouth. Nicola covers that one and throws a jab from the top herself, grazing the blonde on the cheek. Piper laces her with quick jabs to the midsection as Nicola misses a swinging powershot to the head. Uppercut from Billie sends her to the ropes shortly thereafter as the blonde takes over the momentum again. She looks to trap the redhead in a corner but Nicola jumps to the side just in time and Billie's reaction for once looks slow and unsufficient to cause any damage. Nicola steps further back and there's the bell.

Round 8:
Both girls seem to be feeling the physical aspects of this bout during the interval. Billie's had the better chances to put Nicola away already, but that extended lay-off period looks to have harmed her efficiency and keep the redhead with a chance of a break-through victory. Roberts comes out determined for the eight, seemingly overcoming a dire period which started few rounds earlier. Billie doesn't hold back though, still confident of enforcing her dominance, laces the oncoming Robberts in the guts before missing yet another shot to the face. Nicola dodges a bullet there and responds with a jabbing sequence to the breasts and finds a quick hook to the mouth herself. Blonde's head rocks back and forth as Nicola pours in with more jabs to the head!!! Left hook to the ribs bends the blonde to the side and Nicola pinches her against the ropes with another hook from the right. Piper leaps to the left, barely avoiding another hook but can't make her way back to center of the ring. Nicola piles on the pressure, right hook to the belly, left hook to the head. Billie ducking and weaving on her feet unable to find a response. Angry shouts from the redhead, she really looks like a girl possessed now, another left jab to the face forces a loud moan of pain from Billie, but she remains upright!!! Despite Nicola's best efforts she just can't land that winning shot and fumbles her chance as she begins to wear out physically, allowing the equally tired opponent to force a clinch. Roberts leans on her with eyes closed. pushes her against the corner post as both women struggle for a last dose of fresh air. No good, ref separates them and they look plain tired now. Breasts pumping up & down, both tanks empty. Bell.

Round 9:
Nothing to chose between them now, a case of mind over matter in the vaning rounds. Both faces reddened, short breaths, physical struggle to the extreme. On we go to the ninth. Piper slightly more agile, fakes some shots, but resists going all-in. Roberts with arms dropped to the side, certain of Billie's shortage of energy supply. Piper doesn't take that well, looks to make something happen, but not as quick on her feet as before and too slow to make a solid impact. Nicola circles around the ropes, just happy to keep it safe. Billie with more fruitless jabs, but inches ever so slightly closer to her foe. Nicola backs herself against the ropes, almost too passive now, begins circling in opposite direction just as Piper leaps up to her. Left jab catches the chest but a follow-up from the right misses the head. Roberts with a lacing shot from the top, right on the brow ridge!!! Billie stumbles and jumps back on soft legs. Nicola rushes with a counter, however she's too erratic in execution, misses a straight-forward shot to the head and almost stumbles over the hapless looking rival. Billie with a lucky right to the cheek. Nicola winces in pain and bends down, but Piper's already by the ropes, catching some respite. Two wounded girls out there and they can't do much while running on empty. Nicola wipes off some blood from cut on her cheek, but that's the last action of this round.

Round 10:
Billie's received some taping on her brow ridge after that hit in the previous round and Nicola's cutmen also worked on her cheek during the last interval of the night. More willpower than actual physical abilities on display but Billie drives forward, throws a chaotic sequence to the midsection which Nicola quickly covered. Redhead looks for a clinch, but Billie goes really low on her knees and catches her in the breasts to tame those efforts. Wild slaps to the ribcage from the blonde, has she found some last resorts of energy? Nicola just happy to defend and her guard remains in tact, blocks more low jabs with the elbows before firing a cross-hook response. Piper ducks underneath those punches though and finds a left hook to the ribcage which makes Nicola moan in pain. More shots to the stomach, Billie giving it everything she's got! Roberts bends forward and soaks up this late punishment but refuses to go down. Quick left hook from Billie snaps her head back again and the moans are getting louder!!! Last-second knockout possible? Nope. Billie's run out of steam and can only land only one weak jab to the cheek before allowing the redhead to clinch her in the corner. Blonde's tank has officially dried up! Nicola doesn't have anything left in hers either and the two brave combatants see out the round locked in a clinch. Ref made little effort to separate them in the end, seemingly well aware of the see-saw outcome possible. This fight will go to the scorecards...

After ten rounds of boxing we go to the scorecards... Judges score the bout 98-96, 98-95 and 97-96 all for your winner through unanimous decision... BILLIE PIPER!!!!

Post-fight:
Billie more relieved than happy upon the final verdict, that mid-distance charge probably sealed her victory, but regardless of the title fight outcome, she knows best she needs to improve her performance a lot if she wants to stand a chance against either Erica Cerra or Kei Mizutani. There was little to write home about Piper tonight and actually Nicola Roberts deserves more credit for hanging on the whole distance.

Meanwhile the redhead looks downcast after the verdict, accepts Piper's hug but turns away quickly and sinks on the stool shaking her head in disbelief. A very game performance from Roberts who actually improved a lot since her last outing and went the distance for the first time in her career. Despite this improvement, she couldn't make the final push like Piper did and that probably cost her the victory in the end. Admittedly, she faced the more experienced rival in favorable conditions and if the blonde fought more frequently as of late, she'd probably stop Roberts well inside the distance.

Final result: Billie Piper def. Nicola Roberts UD10.
