BEFORE. Mary is on a winning streak in England, but Laetitia is determined to stop her happy roll. Casta is not present at the pre-fight interview, and one FCBA expert summarizes it in a few words: "Basically, Casta blames Winstead for her disappearance from the FCBA: when she fought Mary Elizabeth, Laetitia thought of an easy fight, but she found herself beaten in only three rounds; after that beating, Casta kept losing, until her retirement from the major celebrity boxing league. She has never forgotten it, and she wants her revenge over Mary Elizabeth." Winstead radiant, her British tour is going as planned and, in addition, she has the chance to fight two French fighters: "I was happy when Laetitia asked my management a fight -I beat her so easily a few years ago and I will do it again tonight! And then Malika! These French can't take a defeat and need to blame someone else. Well, I'll show them that I win because I am better than them!" Time to fight now -Casta gets to the ring wearing white top, shorts, and gloves, lose hair; Mary in a similar black outfit, ponytail. Casta refuses to touch gloves, but she whispers something at Mary instead; Winstead shakes her head, not convinced.
R1. Girls circling each other, trying to test their opponent with the jab. Casta moves first, trying to get inside, getting to Mary's head with the right hand. Mary blocks the shot, replies with a counter right that hits Casta's left mitt, but Casta loses protection on her face AND MARY HITS HER AGAIN! Clean shot to the head sees Laetitia staggering back, with Mary in pursuit AND MARY'S RIGHT CROSS GETS ON CASTA'S MOUTH! Laetitia immediately gets on her knees, babbling, surprised by Mary's early punch. "Stay down, it's better for you!" yells Mary, spirited, but Laetitia eventually gets on her feet again. Casta clearly furious because of the early knockdown, she gets to Mary again but this time more cautiously, managing to deliver hooks on the American's girl torso. Casta moves in further, but Mary decides to clinch here, grabbing Laetitia's neck with the left hand, but delivering some punches to Laetitia's chest in the process. Casta enraged, she protests with the referee: "Stop her!!!" but it takes a while before the two get fully separated. Mary doesn't stop -she pushes Laetitia towards the ropes, working on her chest with the right hand again before the bell tells them it's time to stop. "Coward, you'll pay for that!" a crimson-faced Laetitia whispers to her opponent as they head to their corners.
R2. Casta knows she has to find a way into Mary's defense, and she is more cautious now. Tactical stuff at the beginning of the round, with Laetitia struggling hard to find an opening but when she finds it it's a disaster for her. Mary hit hard by Laetitia first, but Casta is too impulsive and she goes full force towards her opponent -giving Mary the chance to counterpunch again! Casta instinctively covers her chest this time, but Mary goes to Laetitia's chin and stuns her. Casta covers her ears, but Mary follows up with a series of punches to the head, leaving poor Laetitia mouthbreathing. Casta steps back, then tries to go at Mary again but she's hit once more with a right hook to the chin. Laetitia frozen on her legs, Mary pours in, right/right/left/right to the body, pushing her, going closer to work on Laetitia's rack. Casta yelling, trying to push Mary away but to no avail; finally, Mary explodes a vicious hook to the chin and LAETITIA GOES DOWN! Casta sobs on all fours, desperately trying to get up before the ten count but she simply can't! Laetitia babbles, rolls on the mat, covering her chest and face as a jubilant Mary Elizabeth Winstead is declared the winner by KO2!
AFTER. Winstead explosive in her performance -she read Casta at perfection and had little trouble in disposing the former FCBA Champion. Casta shows serious lacks in her preparation, hit in several occasions and forced down too early to come back against an opponent as determined and dangerous as Mary. |
