Following a shocking loss to Reon Kadena in the recent Bristol card, former BBU bantamweight champion Alesha Dixon looks to bounce back into winning ways against Welsh champion Charlotte Church who knocked out Katherine Jenkins on her way to the Welsh crown but then suffered a broken nose at the hands of Miranda Kerr in the Lioness Club vs Downunder Boxing event back in March. The nose has healed up already and Church looks to make some noise in BBU again albeit Dixon is an extremely dangerous rival to anyone regardless of her last performance. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.

Round 1:
Dixon's on fire early, laces Church in the jugs straight off the bell and whacks her in the ribs forcing the blonde to jump away quickly. Lucky break for Charlotte as Alesha was swinging vicious hooks around her head which could have spelled even bigger trouble for the Welsh girl. Church circles arounnd the ring, seemingly overwhelmed with Dixon's attacks, but the former champ just can't reach her opponent in time, keeps grazing her instead of really laying some leather. Church responds with single shots to the arms and body, but spends the round entirely on the back foot as Dixon takes in on points easily.

Round 2:
More pressure from the former champ; Dixon all over Church like a cheap bikini, makes some break-through with jabbing shots to the midsection and cracks an uppercut to the chin which snaps Church's head back. Welsh blonde leaps to the ropes, but Alesha's right after her, swings more hooks to the tummy, peppers the ribcage and has the blonde bending down, covering up in all sorts of trouble. Wide slaps from Dixon, but she can't split the gloves, lands almost all of her punches on the arms. This looks good on the scorecards, but inflicts little damage on the opponent. Church hides in a shell, tortoise-like defence from the blonde, but she survives the onslaught albeit Alesha starts to pull away on points.

Round 3:
Charlotte refuses to step in more aggressively, allows Dixon to open up from both flanks again, high-jabbing display from the former champ as she peppers the blonde's jugs with ease. Left hook from Church skims off Alesha's nose! Close call, almost out of nowhere but they continue to trade punches in the middle of the ring as the blonde finds some range, whacks Dixon in the ribs, throws a nifty uppercut and Alesha jumps back for the first time tonight, begins to circle around and glance over at the blonde rival. Church seems to have finally woken up and Dixon keeps her at bay for remainded of the round. After such a painful loss to Reon Kadena, any which way to secure a victory will do for Alesha, even an ugly grindfest which marked the third round.

Round 4:
Alesha with single shots to the body, sets up a big hook to the cheek, but misses and Church counters to the stomach, jabbing sequence bend Dixon down and she clinches, wraps her arms around the blonde's waist before firing away at the ribcage. Both girls struggle in the clinch and are separated by the ref. Church on the move shortly afterwards, but so is Alesha! Punching trade-off in the middle of the ring as Alesha cracks her rival across the face with a left hook while gets laced in the ribs herself with a low combo from the Welsh champion. They continue to lay some leather, but single shots hit the target more often than not and both girls are able to stand their ground. Alesha looks like she wants to break Charlotte's nose AGAIN, keeps firing straight jabs at her, but the blonde's footwork seems superior as she weaves around those efforts and counters to the midsection herself. Tempo drops in the final minute of the round and both girls step back breathing heavily, but Dixon maintains her two-round cushion as Church's aggression failed to pay off convincingly enough.

Round 5:
Dixon with another early charge, but Charlotte's footwork exposes her badly as she misses a couple of jabs and looks rather foolish chasing the blonde around. Church glued to the ropes, seemingly a new tactics, yet Alesha keeps coming at her. Another missed combo from the ex-champ and this time she loses her balance, arms drop too low and Charlotte cross-hooks her in the nose before rocking her with a right hook to the temple! Dixon can't turn around in time, Church whacks her in the ribs, fires more jabs to the body and pins the briefly stunned rival to the ropes! Alesha winces and covers up but a huge hook splits her mitts and a left uppercut follow up pays in full moments later! DOWN GOES DIXON hard on her back-side, head falls behind and rests on the ropes! Welsh school of boxing at it's finest!!! Alesha's down but not out and quickly gathers herself up at seven, seemingly more surprised by that knockdown than physically affected! She fires away a solid response, but Church blocks her off and sends more jabs to the ribcage! Alesha falls back to the ropes, but uses all her champion's experience to grind out a clinch and prevent the blonde from dishing out more misery. Church drops her aggression, seems happy to push and shove around with Dixon all the way until the bell. Alesha looks relieved as she heads back to her corner but Charlotte is right back in this one!

Round 6:
It's Church who ups the tempo early, visibly boosted by that knockdown in the fifth. She hassles Dixon around the ring as the former champ tries to bide some time, but her agility and lightness let her down as Church is much faster on her feet and scores number of shots to the arms and body. Alesha is made look sluggish out there and she knows it. Charlotte with a big hook half-way through the round, cuts between the gloves and snaps Dixon's head back. Another one from the left and the former champ winces in pain. Church's suddenly on a rampage as if Alesha hit some kind of fitness crises. Jabbing sequence to the ribs bend Dixon down and Church whacks her between the gloves aqain. Alesha wobbles on her feet as her head is snapped back ferociously and covers up, but she's visibly struggling now, takes a lot of punishment to the midsection and falls haplessly on the ropes. Church's in great shape, throws more shots to the head and the former champ looks stunned, just covers up and seemingly waits for the bell. Couple of more jabs cut through the guard and the extent of the blonde's charge is visible after the bell sounds, there's blood pouring from Alesha's nose and her corner immediately begins to patch her up during the interval. Eyes look gloomy on top of that. Dixon's in serious trouble now!

Round 7:
Charlotte charges like a woman possessed, shows no signs of fitness problems. On the other hand Dixon is slow, just raises her gloves and buckles up for more punishment coming her way. She gets nailed in the ribs quickly and that really takes the steam out of her, Church with more jabs around the head and body, backs the utterly hapless former champ to the ropes where she sends more shots to the stomach and arms. What is Dixon doing? Looked very promising at the start but can barely throw a punch now. Church finally drops her aggression mid-way through, she's surely ahead on points now but looks for a fancy knockout somehwere up her sleeveless bikini! Alesha notices this pause, opens up, throws a couple of hooks to the chest, but the execution is slow and she's exposed herself badly in the proccess. Right hook from the blonde underneath the elbow! Bang on the nose! Blood starts pouring from the nostrils again! Left hook on the eye and Dixon's too slow AGAIN. She sinks on the ropes, now having the proverbial stuffing beaten out of her! Church with single strikes to the stomach, Alesha bends down, offers no resistance, left/right hooking combo rocks her head back and forth... Ref looks on, but before he can step in, bell sounds and saves the former champ's skin. But for how long?

Round 8:
Not long is the answer. Dixon could barely walk to her stool and has almighty troubles with getting up for the eight! Her corner refuses to throw in the towel! "Champions don't quit on their stool". Alesha's guard is split with the blonde's first combo, uppercut from the left sends her flying towards the ropes and Charlotte moves in for the kill. Ref knows what's happenning next but remains rooted to the spot regardless! Left hook on the cheek, right cross on the cheek, left jab on the nose... Dixon's nose is cut open again, her arms drop to the side and she's gone on her legs... Right jab on the nose and DIXON CRASHES DOWN face-first on the canvas!!! Ref doesn't even bother to start the count, Alesha Dixon has been rendered unconscious inside the opening minute of the eight round... KO R8 Charlotte Church!!!

Post-fight:
Incredible victory for the Welsh blonde who came back from a huge pasting she received on her own at the hands of Miranda Kerr couple of months ago. The manner of this win is boosted by the fact she literally knocked the once fearsome Alesha Dixon out of her senses! What ever happened with the former #1 bantamweight fighter? Dixon looks like a shadow of herself in the past few weeks, losing in very comprehensive fashion to almost everyone. One reckons serving as maid for Mary Elizabeth Winstead during the American's on-going BBU tour has shattered her confidence to bits.

Meanwhile Charlotte Church hopes that Imogen Thomas has noticed this excellent display of boxing and will answer the bell once the reigning Welsh bantam champion throws the gauntlet down. However Thomas is rumoured to have her sights on the BBU title proper and might ignore Church's bragging in the end. All things considered, the bantam division definitely remains the strongest suit for Welsh girls in BBU.
