BEFORE: "Obviously we have no respect for Emma's skills," Selena reports crisply in prefight. "That said, she is a very strongly-built flyweight - well conditioned and fit, especially for a Brit. I may not knock her out cold but I wouldn't be surprised to see her quit in tears around the 5th or 6th round when she realizes I've put the fight out of reach!"

Emma non-plussed by Selena's 'tude and taunting antics: little Brit all business at the podium. "A terrible beating would be just the thing for Selena in this fight," Emma says in rebuttal, "but really, I see her as a pure stepping stone. With my celebrity, I could be commanding vast sums for my ring appearances, but I have to string the wins together first. Once I come into my own, can you imagine the purse for a Twilight/Potter showdown with the likes of Kristen Stewart? Or a 'little bully's' contest with Hayden? Emma parrying shots with either hand out of a cheek-high guard...she's weaving forward, blocking Selena's work, then looking to bang sleek brunette ribcage tuff-girl shots with both hands. Midway through, Emma calm in the pocket, covering up as Selena bats away brisk left/rights head and shoulders, then answering a single, short, JOLTING left hook to chin and DOWN GOES GOMEY! Tugging blast to chin puts Gomey on her glutes...she shows plenty of spirit - popping right back up, guaranteeing ref she's good to go, and upon resumption, it's HER withering combinations pelting away on Emma, backing Watson up to bell. Gomez fiercely defiant despite the knockdown, making eye contact, then breaking into a little salsa shuffle step on the spot, irritating and bewildering a frowning Watson as ref moves in.

R2: Gomez quicker off the mark: swift, piercing jabs knocking at Emma's defences; scraping her pate. Gomez sliding in slick right hands off the pokes, threading precision one-twos in between Emma's mitts, scoring to mouth. Ringing face-punches unhinge Watson's legs at minute mark..Selena stepping in close, weight on front (left) leg, arching her supple back and lashing in those wide, batting Mexican hooks behind Emma's left elbow. Watson groaning, backing butt-first into ropes...Selena stepping with; jabbing, crossing, then burying that lithe left hook behind elbow like a little champ. Tough times for Emma: she's hurt, biting back on cries of pain throughout the round..brave little Brit proves strong-legged in soaking up quality leather as Gomez romps bell to bell. CHEAP FLYWEIGHT ELBOW, GOMEY TO EMMA! Watson grimacing, straightening up at ropes when Gomez leans in from British left flank to deposit right elbow-tip to gut...Selena strutting away all proud of herself as anguished Briton sits in ropes, hugging her body and bleating in protest as bewildered ref tries to piece together clues.

R3: Emma walking Selena down, letting her get off, blocking and rolling the shots, then fitting Gomez chin for blunt left hooks. Selena repeatedly hurt in the exchanges - her punches pelting at Emma's castle-walls, while Watson's compact punches land true to chin. Middle minute, methodical Watson also finding the range via short, stubby straight rights to face, punching Gomez out of her stance. Final minute, Emma punishes Selena along ropes - hacking vicious palm-down rights to Selena's back and left-side lats; belting Gomez a brutal hook to belly as Selena's stooping forward, trying to keep left shoulder in British tits. Bell: payback for Watson in the form of a vindictive hook belted across Gomey's jugs....Selena howling in outrage, slap-chopping out punches as ref moves in!

R4: Pretty pouts, glaring eyes all around as girls look to lather: crowd-pleasing two-way fighting results midring. Gomez bending to her right at the waist - weight on right leg as she loops left hooks over the top, then tries to fit Emma for rangy right uppercuts. Watson attacking sturdy out of the cheek-high guard: stout straight right hands to head; left uppercuts short n' muscular to midsection; hacking, hateful palm-down rights whirled to Selena's left-side lats and back. Repetitive, hacking right hands eventually break Selena's form: grimacing, she disengages, tries to use her legs, realizes they aren't there for her...Emma able to walk Gomez to ropes and beat her body without mercy. Gomez covering up face-in-gloves/butt-in-ropes...Emma leaning in close with her head, fists grouped at her chest as she deploys bashing goodness to rival ingenue ribs to bell.

R5: Fighters square away toe-to-toe - bobbing on the spot - dukes at cheeks. Emma pradding a stubby-jab to Selena's breasts, then trying to ram home the chopping straight right up top. Selena dipping side to side - bobbing up into short, tasty left uppercuts to chin, or a wide, whippy right hand lashed to Emma's flank. Spicy two way as the girls are right there for each other, when midway through...EMMA GOES DOWN! Just that short, precise left uppercut finding Watson's chin/unhinging her knees...she wobbles to all fours in distress: Selena starts salsa-steppin' on the spot until ref shoos her away! Final minute all Selena cleaning up on Emma at ropes: Watson in rigid earmuff, being stoic as Selena explores via the left jab, then leans into spearing rights slanted down into British tummy.

R6: Selena lathering away to head and shoulders as Emma covers up, leans into the maelstrom, blocks-and-rolls the work. Receipts from Watson are short, well timed, powerful: once Gomez is finished sprinkling, Watty will locate chin via stout left uppercut or hook; chopping right hand. Good pinpoint power-off-the-counter for Emma has Selena staring, wobbly-butt by midway point...Ems able to double her hook chin/LIVER - really biting home the body shot and DOWN GOES GOMEY! Selena sobbing in pain, hugging her body, turning away and cringing down to haunches and hands...hard-working Emma strides past, gazing down in satisfaction at what looks to be a fight-winning body shot. SELENA BEATS THE COUNT! Bravest moment of Gomez' career thus far...she's blinking away tears as she fights off body-throb to take her 8! Resume: Emma jabbing Selena to ropes, getting her to cover up earmuff, then BANG-BANG right/lefts shake the Gomez waistline. OH how Emma's beating Selena in the dying moments - British shoulders hunched as she stoops forward, fists collected at her chest - she's getting legs, buns and back into withering body-wallop. Gasping and forlorn, Selena eventually reaches in under Emma's brawny arms - Gomez' eyes closed, mouth open on Emma's left shoulder as latina girl hangs on to bell.

R7: Corner telling Emma "Finish her"...grim-eyed Watson wades in to comply. Gomez hurt, leg-shabby...she's laying in forehead to forehead with Emma, scraping-pate as girls bob and weave in the pocket, trading leather. Watson SO methodical here - fists at her chin as she's bobbing on the spot, then: chippy right uppercut to chin; pumping right to ribs; weave-left; left uppercut off left foot; left hook to ribs; bring those hands back quick and bob. Gomez battered, but refusing to budge or give...latina firing back in spots, even as she's being visibly reduced by hard-hearted Emma in the exchanges.

R8: Pressure from Emma drives Selena to aprons; scours her along ropes. Gomez staring, open-mouthed, fists at chest...her legs are rubber, frequently failing her, spilling her into cables after hard Watson punches. Emma organized, compact, efficient...never reaching for Selena or rushing - British girl just leaning in close with her head and getting off stout. Selena busting up, stumbling, looking drained as clubbing blows buffett her head; beat across her biceps/breasts; bounce taut off tummy/ribs. Bell: Gomez swaying in the wind, but defiant...Emma giving the girl a cool-eyed once-over, estimating what Selena has left.

R9: Emma wades in - encounters WAY more Gomez than anticipated. Selena scraping-pate with Emma as girls lean in together, but it's Gomey getting off, cuff-cuffing Emma's right ear the left hook off the right plant-leg; curling the cute right uppercut off the right plant-leg; leaning weight to left leg while lapping right-to-jaw up top. Emma stricken, put wobbly-butt as she's outfought at close ranges - Gomez picking apart her rival, weaving on the spot, but always in position to work. Watson's turn to prove a tuffy: she takes a pasting - knees frequently buckling off hard chin-checks...Emma often forced to clinch after receiving quality lashes in the 9th!

R10: Watson circling on the aprons, showing a defensive jab...it's Selena on the hunt now. Gomez in giddyup mode - jogging to close, then moving her hands in fluid combinations - small mitts bouncing off head/shoulders/body before Watson scampers away. Emma unable to turn the tide...she's committing to showing leg/shaking pursuit - forfeiting points to deny Selena any decisive exchanges. Goes to cards, comes back UD10 Emma Watson.

AFter: Selena heartbroken - eyes shut tight as she shouts "UH-H!" when Emma's hand is raised - as though the verdict is yet another body blow. Watson glowing, taking a moment to revel in Selena's distress before primping for in-ring cameras. "Hammering out wins in your peer group is always critical," Savvy Emma instructs in postfight. "She was both more and less than I anticipated. Breaking her down was easy - I'm much the harder puncher: finishing her was tricky. Gomez WILL dig in and fight you if she has no choice. The bodywork was essential tonight - I took Selena's legs away from her quite early on, essentially securing victory for myself - but she was much more stubborn than I thought she'd be. I'm delighted to say the least: a hard fought win over a girl I may be revisiting throughout my career is a precious thing!"
