Before: Romijn with newfound confidence--outside the ring, buzz is she’s the next Charlize Theron, inside the ring, she’s a long, strong blonde who could be…the next Charlize Theron. Ali Landry specializes in bringing Charlize Therons to heel--she doesn’t like the thought of another brazen blonde strutting around unbroken at welter. “She’s riding high,” Ali says of Rebecca in preflight. “A couple of years ago, people would laugh ou loud at the idea of Becky trying to step up to me, but now, a lot of people are actually picking her to win. BLONDE! magazine can’t get enough of this chick, but it’s all just motivation for me. Time to bring Becky back to Earth, Ali Landry style.” Landry in championship gold bikini, Romijn in dazzling black bikini, sassy blonde girls.

During R1: Not a lot of serious contact--just Ali working behind a piston jab, touching Becky up belly and head with the stick. Romijn slow-starting, gloves up, framing her face--Landry dictating, stepping in, out and around, doing what she wants from outside.

R2: Becky can box too--she answers the Landry shutout in kind this round. Romijn relaxing, lifting the jab off her hip, doubling it up with a nice lanky pump of her left arm, hand open as she slaps on it. Landry cautious, parrying most of the incoming with her open right palm, changing directions to test Becky’s legs.

R3: Girls mixing it up more. Still a lot of cagey posturing on the outside, but both girls constructive behind the jab, dropping right hands when available, Ali coming up a bit short--Romijn using her reach nicely, stepping out on occasion to fade the brunette--Landry getting caught on the end of blonde punching, forced to regroup.

R4: Landry still rotating left, dropping a short right hand off the jab, but sticking around to dig a firm left hook to the waist that has Romijn freezing up this round. Landry at her methodical best, putting three punch combos on target, working the head and body, giving the blonde a constant angle-shift. Body punching adding up in long blonde legs by the final minute--Romijn stepping back, sucking a deep breath, dropping her guard--Landry pounces with a shocking lead right hand hard to the chin. Becky scattered ropeside, badly stunned--Ali able to body up and hook gut nice and tight inside--Romijn hanging on at the bell.

R5: Romijn shakes it off, shows nice spring legs as she stamps long jab against Landry’s jugs, shoulder and face. Ali rejected on several attempts inside, back on her heels, hands up, arms crossed as Romijn pumps stick. Landry scowling, concentrating as she circles, trying to figure out a way past Romijn’s formidable, much improved range-finder.

R6: Spirited boxing, Romijn showing a high degree of class as she pushes Landry to excellence this round. Ali jabbing belly, hooking cheek as she pivots left--it’s giving her the initiative, allowing her to dictate as Romijn tries to play catch u7p with right crosses. Becky not as accurate--Landry starting to impose her will with crisp punching.

R7: ROMIJN LIGHTS ALI UP! Finally, big Becky leans into a right cross that penetrates the D and swivels Ali’s head--curvy brunette legs lock up as she goes wobbly butt, stooped forward behind her mitts. Becky smiling, weight on her front foot as she licks a lashing left hook in under the elbow, licks it again, licks it again--Ali drifting to the left, suffering. Romijn getting big--hooking Ali in the shoulder, the plowing home the tight hand up the middle--Landry banged ropeside, sets up gloves at her temples to ride it out. All Becky to the bell--stroking lefts and rights against Ali’s flanks, palming the brunette’s shoulders, trying to force right hands between the guard. Ali swaying at the bell--Becky chests up to force eye contact as blonde inches into the lead.

R8: Best two-way action of the fight--both girls gambling more, willing to stand in and trade, both soaking up shocking blows to the chin that weren’t there earlier. Final minute--Romijn blinks first. Landry beats her to a hook, shaking blonde legs, then consolidates with a curling pair of hooks to the ear, setting up a shoving heart punch that draws a moan of pain from Romijn, Becky stumbling forward--Ali masterful as she sidesteps, gets after the extended ribcage the left hook, picks up the chin with the outside-in left uppercut to leave Romijn ragged at the bell.

R9: Ali boxing smart--she’s been tagged, knows Becky can hurt her, but pageant princess knows how to manufacture runs. Belly jabs. Hooks off the jab. Clinch-and-release. Landry playing punch and clutch, frustrating the blonde with stop and go fighting as the ref struggles to keep the action going. At the bell, an enraged Becky R screams in outrage as Landry pins her to the ropes, hugging tight to run the clock.

R10: Romijn baring her teeth, throwing wilder, more desperate--Landry stays composed, counter punching for the first time and scoring clean head and body on her foe. Landry able to slip the blonde right, dig counter hooks to jaw or rib, then reach in under Becky’s arms to clinch for the break. Ali taking no chances, bodying up, walking Beck to the ropes, holding and holding until ref reefs her arms clear. Ugly but effective--Ali bamboozling a flustered Rebecca to take a veteran UD10.

After: Scattered booing as Landry’s hand is raised--not her most aggressive or spectacular performance, but it’s a heady, pragmatic over up and coming superstar. “Rebecca IS the new Theron,” says Ali smugly in post fight. “She’s big, dumb, all right hands and no heart--close your eyes and it’s Charlize. I cracked this kid in the 8^th and she was sniveling in our clinches--I knew I’d ride her to the finish line at that point.” Ali treating bug name blondes shabby at welter, but Romijn wins rounds, has her girl hurt--Becky looking oike she’s all the way back after a long, troubled hiatus.
