Before: Big bodied rivalry between two of boxing’s hardest hitting blondes. Heigl still relying pretty much on stunning one punch sock, but Kilcher’s developed nicely over the last couple of years, putting her punches to together, developing a Black Rhino type assault that’s as much volume as it is pop. Heigl in pretty ponytail and curls, sturdy black cotton two piece with white lace trim on halter style top, Kilcher in teal tankini, slick ponytail so tight it squeaks.

During R1: Girls bump midring and Jewel puts her nose on the bigger woman’s chest, getting off sharp to the waist, then shouldering Heigl back--steady bump and shoot has Katherine ropeside in the opening moments. Katherine looking puzzled, getting pancaked to the body, just standing up straight at the ropes, gloves high as Jewel bashes away. Kilcher patient, moving her head from side to side, snapping hard left/rights to the sides then clubbing up top with a short shot--Heigl humming at the bell as jewel just beats on her bell to bell.

R2: Heigl unpacks her jab, rejecting Jewel’s attempts to face-up on Katherine’s chest with jarring impacts early. Heigl plays Foreman to Jewel’s Frazier--big girl stumping the jab, then palming up Kilcher’s shoulders to keep her in the kill zone. Jewel off balance, going backward, crossing her arms, bending at the waist and soaking it up booming shots to her sides an arms as Heigl reaches way back, then heaves it inl. After 2, hard punching has both girls shining up nicely.

R3: Jewel doubling up on her own under-rated jab, taking the punch away from Heigl, and moments in--Kilcher steps in with a flush overhand right off the face that freezes Heigl, follow up hook that puts the big girl on her back. Katherine up shaky at 8, sagging into the ropes to receive Jewel’s charge. Kilcher thorough and very heavy handed with the hurting girl slumping on the ropes--reefing hooks to the side, and a savage heart punch with the right thudding beefily against Heigl’s chest. Katherine swooning, shoving Jewel back occasionally, but unable to get off the ropes as the singer gives to the actress in the belly at the break.

R4: Stalking, confident Jewel now--Heigl uncertain, sliding away, extending her left hand fully as if to stiff arm Kilcher off. Kilcher hopping in with her hook, grazing chin as the big woman leans back with fear in her eyes. Jewel bending into that cruel heart punch, landing over and over to the same spot with splattering connects--Heigl in her knees doesn’t like what that punch is doing to her.

R5: Jewel walking Katherine down, tapping her hard over the heart with straight rights, clubbing her with doubled up left hooks to the head and body until Heigl sags heavily into ropes, Kilcher pouring it on now, putting her head on Heigll’s sweaty chest the better to push Katherine’s arms back, then giving it to Katherine in the belly, doubling the actress up. Heigl soaking up tremendous punishment, but she starches Jewel late with a thrilling left uppercut--Kilcher momentarily wobbly butt, crosses her arms and bobs in front of Heigl as Katherine fights her way off the ropes at the bell.

R6: Both girls showing fatigue after fielding many, many bruising blows through 6 gritty rounds, Heigl still on her heels, backing away, jewel with her weight forward, reaching in with her left, the plowing that right hand to the heart--Heigl cringing, falling in with Jewel to clinch after each brutal connect. Katherine getting her licks in as well--swooping Foremanesque right hands up into the breadbasket have Kilcher up on her toes, and Kathy’s just missing that payoff left uppercut as Jewel bends forward. Down the stretch, Jewel bobbing side to side, comes out of her crouch with an explosion of lefts and rights--Heigl’s head snapping left and right AND KATHERINE GOES DOWN! Kathy in ruins, seated shabbily at the ropes, desperately trying to clamber up the strands to beat the count, She does, but she’s helpless, gloves at her lips, eyes vacant. Jewel on like a freight train, unleashing crisp, ripping lefts and rights to the face, driving in behind every home-run stroke AND THE REF JUMPS IN! Heigl out on her feet offers no protest--TKO6 Jewel Kilcher.

After: Shattering slugfest leaves Katherine Heigl in tatters--Jewel handing out a carjacking of the first magnitude, shaking off heavy lumber in order to get Katherine in trouble over and over again. Heigl sobbing in her locker room in the aftermath--loss to Jewel really strikes at Katherine’s self esteem--same style means no excuses in this very Darwinian contest.
