Before: Slender boxer-cuteys mix it up, Thandie pretty brazen in calling out the former pound for pound entrant--Packard needs to slam the door on these challenges or they’ll just keep coming. Thandie looking to pay dues in a hurry then step in with Mish Williams if possible--Newton’s people likes the style match up, although most pundits remain skeptical. Newton in black bikini, gold arm band, Packard in silver bikini, halter singlet top.

During R1,2: Classy Kelly P takes it to Thandie in these rounds, Packard so adept at moving her head when she punches, bobbing in close after right crosses, leaning away to pull stroking hooks across Thandie’s face, Kelly rocking Newton to open the fight with a sizzling right of a licking hook to the hip, then stunning the brunette at the end of the second with a hook/right hand on the chin, followed by a punishing flurry at the ropes as Newton’s legs buckle, Newton not a counter puncher, having trouble leading against the hard to hit blonde, and Kelly’s really setting down on well placed chin shots, frequently getting Thandie’s legs to tremble. All Packard through 2--Newton lumpy early.

R3,4: Newton turning slugger, standing her ground, taking the Packard jab and answering with rising lefts and right in curling arcs. Packard buffed up early in each of these rounds, but makes he veteran adjustment, using a little sidestep to either side to get outside of Newton’s shoulders and box from angles, Thandie continues to get polished up by stroking combinations and firm jabs to the eyes.

R5: Packard mixing up her offense well--steps to the right and concentrates on Thandie’s slender breadbasket with a series of whistling hooks, Newton grunting, backing to the ropes--Packard squares up and puts tic-tac-toe punches together to Thandie’s glossy flanks. Newton seated ropeside, grits her teeth and starts punching back--loose and rangy delivery gives Kelly opportunity to time the brunette. Blonde bobbing, punching with Thandie, beating her to clipping lefts and rights on the chin and a final blasting hook swivels Newton’s noggin. Thandie’s own hook aborted, she sinks straight down to her knees, chin up, eyes glassy--Kelly struts away without even looking back--KO5 Kelly Packard.

After: Thandie dazed, uncomprehending on her knees--eyes are open, but legs simply wouldn’t obey commands to rise. Packard’s best outing in 2 years--the total package: defence, angles, licking combinations and decent power at the right time simply too much for the angular Asian. Packard throwing her veteran hat in the ring as well, asking, :”who do I have to beat to get Mish Williams to fight me?”
