Before: rivalry between “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” bitterest in daytime--CBS encouraging a Darwinistic attrition between the two shows. Taping stopped mid-day as cast and crew of Y & R brazenly walk on set of B & B--Davidson calling out Lang then and there--typical Soap Fight, more gang warfare than it is organized sport. Off to the CBS gymnasium--Eileen in orange bikini, Katherine in pale green.

During R1: Lang one of the best all-around athletes since Eva LaRue, but you’d never know it early. Kathy elects to meet Eileen midring and brawl--reckless trading back and forth as girls jerk punches up from the waist--this is Davidson’s specialty. Lang steadily giving ground and several starting lefts and rights crack her jaw--big blonde goes wobbly butt, hit’s the ropes all wide-eyes and shaky. Eileen bearing down--Lang clinching, trying to tie up--sweaty work as the ref pushes Davidson off, then it’s Eileen walking back in to slog away. Down the stretch, Eileen drills a hard right cross to drape Lang over the ropes, blonde limp, defenseless in the final moments. Brutal two-fisted beat down as Davidson helps herself with shellacking force to the flanks and head of her woozy foe.

R2: Davidson out to finish--veteran Lang dips a shoulder, hooks crotch with a deliberate lick, inviting the ref to intercede and give Davidson a moment. Eileen recoups, immediately indulges in working woman’s justice with a rolling barrage to the trunks, backing Lang to the ropes with a groan. Ref losing control as Katherine ties, immediately laces and headlocks Davidson into the ropes--wild grappling, elbowing struggle as they tumble orange, green, orange green along the perimeter. Girls spilling to the canvas at one point, still mauling each other--all ref can do is heave ‘em apart to reset the action, Senseless brutality to neither girl’s advantage--they lock up, hold and hit, scour rib cage with elbow smashes, dig low--both faces twisted in outraged snarls as the hurt piles up.

R3: Senseless brawling continues for a minute, then the girls step out on mutual consent, each huffing and puffing, walking around one another to find another way. Lang probing the defense with a spearing jab--Davidson with good head movement answers with long-limbed counter hooks and right hands--Eileen does the harder punching as Lang doesn’t seem to want any more.

R4: Lang hooking off her jab, has Davidson covered up--Katherine steps right, jabs the temple, drops a right hand into Eileen’s ear and DAVIDSON GOES DOWN! Eileen caught cold, topples sideways into the ropes--she’s up quick, but her equilibrium’s off--Katherine stalks in hungrily to finish. Lang short and heavy to the waistline, banging away left/right, then coming upstairs with a bashing hook that spanks back Eileen’s face and leaves her staring. Lang pressing the attack, she’s got Davidson woozy at the ropes, arms crossed--Eileen just taking punches on shellshocked legs. Booming lefts and rights scorch Davidson’s head side to side and she hops to her right, takes a knee--Katherine piling into her with momentum and trampling Davidson into the ropes. Eileen up, swaying badly after 8--on comes Lang. More sensational body rips and chin clips--Lang just putting them together brilliantly--you can see Eileen drifting out on her feet, bit too proud to go down. Katherine won’t be denied--shifting her weight side to side, but she pulls murderous lefts and rights into a helpless Eileen Davidson, pounding away until Ashley starts to pool forward, stepping to the side to allow Davidson to sprawl face first on canvas, Brutal KO4 Katherine Kelly Lang,

After: Lang delighted with the wreckage, heaves a stupefied Davidson onto her back and pins her with a wild smile--neither of these girls ever misses a chance to heap on the humiliation when she’s got the other hurting. Melody Scott Thomas (“Nikki Newman”) screaming in disgust from ringside at Eileen to “Get up!”--no sympathy from castmaytes when it’s a B & B girl lying on top of you.
