Minka Kelly versus Lyndsey Fonseca (words and results by Sim)
BEFORE: "I feel I'm almost like a young Minka Kelly," Lyndsey says in prefight. "She's gonna be my Audrina Patridge, you know? Gonna do some face-punching on her - gonna work that body...my goal is to thrash this girl - just break her spirit, beat her down...it's time for me to break out, and I can't think of a better girl to springboard off of than Minka Kelly!"
"Everybody's been waiting for Lynds to break out," Minka admits, "So far: no joy. She looks the part - maybe not a 'young Minka Kelly', but she's fit n' pretty...you'd think she'd have separated herself from the CW herd by now. Except she hasn't, and she won't because she's not special. She's a girl who looks good in the gym - a girl who makes a great sparring partner...but that's not enough. And if she thinks she's gonna punch her way through me to stardom, she's in for some heartbreak!"
Minka in yellow bikini top; neon baby blue bottoms; small white gloves; low ponytail with slender bangs bracketing cheeks. Lynds in white bikini top; navy bottoms; small white gloves; hair in tidy battle braid.
During R1: Lyndsey's chippy left jab scraping off Minka's cheeks...Kelly blinking, startled. Fonseca following up with crisp, swift right hands - clipping Minka across her chin; pumping Minka to tummy. Midway through, tuff left hook digs at Minka's solar plexus, causing her to blurt in pain: brawny follow up slugging from Lyndsey drives Kelly into ropes. Good healthy pursuit from Fonseca: eyes glaring, lips pursed as she chugs away via rising rights and lefts, just slugging Minka out of her positions. Kelly grumpy, getting outworked then walked down...it's bell to bell Lyndsey, treating Minka shabby!
R2: Mink getting into her stance - right foot well back, weight on left leg, using the straight right lead to locate Lyndsey, then a quick clip-across palm-down left hook ticketed for chin. Fonseca's turn to take punches and retreat...she's scowling, but plucky - still stuffing a strong right hand to Minka's tanned tummy; still attempting to hook-with. Minka separating herself late, trudging forward into Lynds while slugging lefts and rights to tummy via chugging delivery. Fonseca beaten butt-first into ropes, forced to tie up all cranky and breathless as Minka wriggles to tuck home extra leather.
R3: Girls trade chippy left jabs to pretty faces, then stiff right hands - each finding the other from medium range. Minka bobbing in crossed-arm, making Lyndsey's right hand miss over the top: Kelly up out of the crouch with the hook, clipping Lyndsey's chin and SITTING HER DOWN! Fonseca blinking in confusion, sitting up pretty, then scrambling to her feet...she's woozy, but combative for her 8. Mink moves back in, stooping to stamp the lead right into Lyndsey's gut; doubling the right to chest, knocking Fonseca into ropes. Minka: straight right to body; clip-across palm-down hook to chin; wide right thick to waist; stiff left jab propping Lyndsey back up. Fonseca confused, hurt - right hand at left shoulder/left at right elbow...she's laying back into ropes, TAKING PUNCHES! Minka gettin' busy on her girl - both mitts kissing across Lyndsey's face; swinging lefts and rights batting at Lyndsey's flanks/hips...nothing back from Fonseca and THE REF STEPS IN! Minka hops away shouting "YES!" as poor Lynds slumps in ref's arms. TKO3 Minka Kelly.
AFter: Kelly drops Lyndsey, then closes her out...Minka shows her experience in withstanding Fonseca's strong start. "Yeah, she was good out of the gate," Mink admits, hands on hips, looking all tuff n' sweaty. "Very quick, very strong. I couldn't get set against her in that first round - I definitely felt her foot on my ass at the start! But I'm tuff: I came out stubborn in the second, made her respect me, then my punches really started to break her down. I like to think I'm one of the best finishers at bantam, so when she went down, I was like: "let's get 'er done!" Pounced on her, worked her over, and bam: I'm the winner and Lyndsey's still trying to find herself." |
