(LATIN UNION VS FRONT STREET JAPAN)

BBU LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE

BEFORE. Italian wonder Manuela Arcuri sits on top of the BBU lightweight division with a respectable 4-0-0 record: "Yu know, I don't care what people say: experience means a lot, and I have more experience than Sayuki. That's all, I'm going to beat Sayuki and retain my well-deserved title!" Sayuki with a different opinion here: "We are both undefeated, but Manuela is older than me and I will show her how a young fighter can dispose of an old champion!" Italy vs Japan, with two undefeated fighters -it certainly looks a good fight for the fans present in the arena. Manuela wears a bikini with the Italian flag, black gloves; Sayuki with a similar outfit with the Japanese flag, red gloves.

R1. Manuela immediately out with her right hand to test Sayuki -hooks to the body leave their marks early. Sayuki tries to organize her answer, but she is a little stiff in these opening minutes, not finding her power and not finding her target. Manuela comfortably getting more points from work on Sayuki's body; overall, a good round for the Champion.

R2. Manuela slows down, allowing Sayuki to test her right. Japanese girl moves slowly, but when she accelerates Manuela has to put all of her efforts to block her hard blows. Arcuri lets the younger girl take a couple of swings at her, but then manages to throw them back at her. Girls still caution after two rounds, trying not to commit mistakes, but not showing the type of KO power they have shown before. Crowd silent, feebly cheering for one or the other after this even, but relatively calm, round.

R3. Girls seem to have perceived some disappointment in the crowd, and go at each other with more confidence now. A glorious exchange of punches goes on in the first minute, but then things calm down again. Manuela active with the jab, she then fakes a couple of right punches and then hits Sayuki's chin with a right cross; Sayuki answers with the hook, banging on Manuela's ears. Manuela clinches, effectively stopping Sayuki's attacks and getting to the end of another even round.

R4. Arcuri gets her footing straight in the first minute, testing Sayuki from the distance. Right hand snaps Sayuki's head, with the Japanese girl unable to get closer to the defending Champion, as she gets hit again by Manuela's peppering right hand. Midway through, Manuela slows down her rate of punches again, allowing Matsumoto to reach her. And here it is -right hand on Manuela's left cheek, Italian forced to backpedal, Sayuki trying to unleash her uppercut but Manuela ducks the punch. Arcuri wisely clinches here, not allowing further damage to be done. Another close round, but Matsumoto's accelerations seem to trouble the Italian Champion.

R5. Manuela out again with an attacker attitude, slowly moving sideways, trying to get to Sayuki with her right hand. Matsumoto now uses her legs to escape, forcing Manuela to move quicker, getting her slightly off-guard, and here it is! Sayuki with a monster right hand, hitting Manuela's skull, making her legs buckle, and then the left/right combo to the head sends a dazed Arcuri down! Manuela on all fours, then she slowly rises up, and regains her position. Mitts on her temples, she tries to step sideways AND SHE GETS CAUGHT AGAIN! Poor Arcuri, she tries to protect her head but Sayuki is simply pouring in, pushes her to the ropes and gets to Manuela's head again… to SEND MANUELA DOWN! Arcuri in disbelief, breathing hard, she uses the ropes to get on her feet again at the 8. Again she clinches -Sayuki hits her body again, but there is not time to finish her. Glorious round for Sayuki, while the Champion looks shabby as she gets to her corner.

R6. Arcuri's corner does a great job in sending their fighter to the ring with motivation, but the question is if she can still withstand Sayuki's punches and if she can get some rest in this round. Matsumoto is not cooperative though, she starts banging punches on Manuela's aching body early in the round, finding her tummy in multiple occasions. Manuela's abs resist the assault, but she doesn't seem able to produce any counterattack now and so she tries to escape again, clinching. Matsumoto faster here, she pounds Arcuri's flesh with the right hand, pushes her away before she is able to clinch AND HERE IS THE RIGHT CROSS! Manuela hit hard, sprawls to the ropes, spins there for a second and collapses on her knees again! Matsumoto pumps her fist in the air, clearly believing the fight is over, but Arcuri is not done yet. Great resilience for the Champion -she rises again, trades punches with Sayuki at the ropes, but then clinches again, unable to compete in this round. Matsumoto completely dominated the champion here, and Arcuri needs to find something in her hat to come back from such deficit.

R7. Manuela out with spirit and pride, and she gets some attacking attitude back! Manuela scores at the body with her right hand a couple of times, but then she is pushed towards the ropes by Sayuki's fresher body. Japanese girl start to pour punches with her right -tummy first, then chest. Left hand finally crashes on Manuela's cheek -the Champion immediately tries to counter with her right, but she misses and SAYUKI POURS IN! Matsumoto on autopilot, hitting poor Manuela's head repeatedly; crowd on its feet, sensing the KO; Manuela's corner screaming at their girl to clinch; Sayuki's corner screaming at their girl to finish the fight. Finally, Sayuki's power has the better here -Arcuri's legs give up, and when Manuela slightly bends forward, Sayuki unleashes her uppercut straight on her chin. Champion flops down, without any energy left in her body. Referee starts to count, but it's clear Manuela is not going to rise up! And so it is official -Front Street Japan has their first champion, Sayuki Matusmoto!

AFTER. Great runs for both fighter before this fight, and one of them had to be stopped. At the end, it was Sayuki's power and mobility that allowed the Japanese girl to have the better. "I know she was hiding, but when I started hitting her hard, in the fifth round, everybody knew it was over. This is a great victory for me and for my stable, and I will be Champion for a long time!" -hard to contradict Sayuki after performance as the one she delivered tonight.
