BEFORE: "Claire Danes is a legit hall of fame fighter," Olivia allows in prefight, "but I'm just gonna say what every bantamweight in the division is thinking: Kate Beckinsale was a fluke. Nobody believes Claire is for real - certainly none of the bantamweights from any of the Great Houses. You got two girls right here at Bazz - me and Aly Michalka - who don't think Claire's for real. And when I face her, I will expose her. At bantam, Claire's a tourist, not a resident, and this is one dangerous neighborhood!"

Claire smiling demurely at podium. "I'm not a tourist," she grins, "I'm an invader. I'll give Olivia this: our computer models suggest that her style is the most problematic in the division for me. In fact, if we both fight a patient, defensive struggle, she wins 52% of the time, meaning that I might have to push the fight more than usual. So she needs to HOPE that Beckinsale was a fluke. She needs to pray that my punching isn't up to bantamweight standards, because otherwise? She's heading into a fight where she's outclassed, outgunned, and outmatched. Most significant single shot of the round? sweeping right from Claire, landing PAK! against Olivia's left flank.

R2: Set your DVRs: Olivia Wilde shuts Claire Danes out with slick boxing. Olivia using her legs more, coming in with lead rights off feints, sliding past Claire's right flank to turn blonde-girl midring. Claire with eyes intent, keeping that left shoulder pointed at Olivia; chin tucked; right at chin - left at hip. Wilde mounting springy-legged strafing runs - grazing Claire with punches, then speeding past her...Danes turning, protecting herself well, but unable to negotiate better terms. Trace of a smile on Wilde's lips in the dying seconds as she bounces off ropes and uses the ring...saucy brunette actually winks at Claire at bell!

R3: Claire jabbing to Olivia's chest to locate; striking tart right/lefts off golden-brown gut...Wilde's strafing runs now pre-empted and stopped as Olivia sets up rolling pockets on flat-feet. Danes upping her tempo, lathering the ribs/tummy of her foe...Claire cute on the inside, pushing Wilde behind right elbow while sidestepping her, neatly turning brunette midring. Down the stretch, girls trade cuffing blows to jawlines in swiping combinations...Claire bookending the exchanges to put Wilde back on her heels in wonder.

R4: Claire steps up the intensity - jabbing Olivia's chest; stepping in close to pack that right fist firm to gut; twisting to get a tight hook onto Olivia's temple. Wilde concerned, backing away while weaving and check-jabbing, trying to pivot-turn at ropes to keep her back clear. Minute mark - Claire cuts off the ring by stepping to her right; shoots a straight to Olivia's mouth, knocking her ropeside...CLAIRE TURNS PUNCHER! Hard-eyed, Danes steps in with lowered head; rips the belly right/left; carves the clipping right uppercut - her fist carrying through to her own left ear; DIGS the left uppercut to sternum. OLIVIA BUCKLES! Hurt, Wilde sits into ropes, face pinched in pain, hunching forward, giving up her back to marauding, swab-across hammer-fists from heartless Claire! Danes pasting away, staying on her girl - rolling shoulders to put hup-hup combos into Olivia's tummy, then snapping off hooks as Wilde lays back spellbound into ropes. Second minute mark: LEFT UPPERCUT/RIGHT HAND, OLIVIA WILDE! Wilde bouncing cleverly off ropes, catches Claire in between shots, neatly tagging chin and BLONDE GIRL HURT! Danes stepping in fence post holes...Olivia over to offence...brunette wades into blonde gut left/right/left, bunching Claire up. Looming over Claire's lowered head, Wilde LATHERS that whippy right hand, scouring it over Claire's left hip. Blonde legs nearly give way...Claire reaches desperately for Olivia's hips, but Wilde wriggles, getting in under Claire's arms and spinning her back into ropes! WILDE POURS ON THE LEATHER! Olivia letting hands go, getting her buns and backside into sleek, limber-bodied leverage. Claire helpless under the assult, burying her face in the crook of her right elbow/left hand tucked up under right armpit as she sags into ropes. Wilde's fists pelt away head/shoulders/ribs, neatly answering Claire's own burst to stalemate the round. Bell: Olivia seething as ref pulls her away...Claire flashing achy/hating glares as she cringes hurt on ropes...fight breaks out in a boxing match as both girls show ferocity/heart under siege.

R5: Claire cleverly across the ring with mock-savagery...she douses a bobbing/blocking Wilde with batting arm-punches, scoring a few striping lashes along the ribcage, then backing off with the points. Olivia forced to get the points back...she looks to pounce in, but Claire's setting traps behind that closed left shoulder - jabbing Olivia on the way in; slide-stepping back to create gaps; checking Olivia swift, screened right hands as Wilde pounces into range. Claire sliding in retreat, dragging that lead (left) foot; pivoting at ropes. Claire changing levels - bending at the waist, putting her left shoulder into Wilde's body and pivoting counter-clockwise around her, simultaneously pushing and turning brunette. Masterful stuff...Claire coaxing Wilde into a pursuit, pressure posture on Danes' terms.

R6: Similar stuff - Claire gambling early, showering Olivia with flurries in the opening seconds, scoring, then backing off to set up an elaborate net of counter-punching traps; sliding defensive-positions; angle-and-level changes. Wilde frowning, fretful...with no choice, she tries to storm the gates, but gets eaten alive...Claire chipping chin via pre-emptory screened right crosses, putting Olivia wobbly-butt; Claire check-hooking off her right (back) foot, unhinging Olivia's knees, forcing her to duck and cover. Stung, Olivia hangs back to regroup, only to be vexed when Claire jabs pesky to face, baiting Olivia into resuming her attack. Bell: Olivia chastised, scuffing up slightly...Claire finally returns the cheeky wink she owes Wilde from the second round.

R7: Wilde anxious, sensing Claire pulling away on the cards...brunette tries to pounce in early, nearly getting herself knocked out as Danes lands vicious set-piece check hooks/right uppercuts off the back (right) leg. Wilde staggers away in confusion, hitting ropes in earmuff...Claire steps-to, turning bully once again to work her foe's ribs. Danes whirling palm-down lefts and rights to offending lats - straightening up behind her jab to Olivia's mouth, then leaning back in again with chop-right hands upside Olivia's head. Accurate, strong punching tests and re-tests Olivia's legs: Wilde passes the exams despite the pasting, settling into a sound pocket defence at apron. Down the stretch, girls're fighting more or less shoulder to shoulder - each laying in with dukes at mouth, weaving and bobbing on the spot, trading exploratory body shots/nudging with chickenwinged left elbows.

R8: Classic feigned retreat from Olivia convinces Claire to turn bully...blonde girl walks into her first sneaky check-hook to chin as Wilde baits traps off her back (right) leg. Danes rung up - knows she has to get the points back...SHE now fights on Olivia's terms as mobile brunette retreats in good order; ricochets off ropes to turn Claire's flanks; walks Claire into counter right hands and check-hooks from the closed stance. Claire bravely trying to force the issue - swift right hands turning her chin aside; cutey-pie hooks scoring on her jaw, leaving her frozen as nimble Wilde pivots-clockwise around the scores.

R9: Claire jabs her way in, bodies up to initiate clinch. Walking Olivia around, Claire's left hand clutches at Olivia's right shoulder, while Danes right hand deliver short, brawling rights to Wilde's face...bit of a hockey-fight breaks out as Claire holds-and-hits! Wilde taken aback, trying to respond in kind...leads to staggering, shoving, slugging-out-of-the-scrum for which neither girl is suited, but Claire seems the more willing to pursue. Short, bludgeoning shots often sloppy - not a lot of technical leverage - but Claire's landing on Olivia's face deliberately, effectively. Ref finally issuing breaks, spreading the girls out...Claire continues to build on her facial assault - jabbing Wilde's eyes; crossing right hands to her chin. Olivia faltering, going into full retreat just shy of rout...blonde girl makes brunette blink in the 9th.

R10: Olivia's attempt to flurry Claire's gut ends when Danes fits jagged left uppercuts to sternum...Wilde's wincing in pain, shying away, yielding initiative to Danes. Claire cautious, but insistent from the outside - pivoting left around jabs and hooks; turning on sudden right hands of opportunity...she's willfully, deliberately, even maliciously going at Olivia's beautiful face in the tenth. Small gloves landing PIK! PAK! PEK! with increasing frequency...Olivia gradually recognizing that Claire's looking to punish Wilde's exquisite, exotic features. Danes not going for the knockout, just attacking face out of spite. Bell: Claire forcing hard eye contact as weary Wilde demures...comes back UD10 Danes in a gorgeous test of will, skill.

After: Claire resplendent - practically glowing in victory. "Am I for real now guys? What do you think?" She quips. "You know, when I first made the move up, I did have my doubts just like Olivia said. Not now though. Now, someone like Neve looks like a lumbering dinosaur I can pick apart at will. Minka and Elisha are like stocky, stupid targets. Britney's a girl to be surrounded and touched-up; Michalka's an easily-baited hothead. Alba's a pretty, must-have bauble. I get it now: I AM big enough. I'm strong enough. I'm still quicker than most, and I'm smarter than all. I'm not just cherrypicking and adventuring up here: now I'm plundering. I'm marauding. If you still doubt me, take a good long look at Olivia's pretty face and tell me I don't take what I want at bantam!"
