BEFORE: Tense but respectful prefight sessions as two of the most celebrated women in FCBA history square off in a showcase. Jessica clears the air at podium: "I've got a lot of respect for Jennifer Garner," Biel insists, "but make no mistake: I'm not loving the attention she's getting right now. This is a very selfish sport - you have to be that way to be great, and when I see headlines going to the other girl, that brings out the compete in me. And when it's Jennifer Garner getting the spotlight - the woman I measured myself against; fought against for type-supremacy and largely defined my career against - those competitive feelings are even stronger. I do respect Jen, but I've told her privately, and I've been vocal in public that 40 years is too long to go on as a front line fighter. The embarrassment to me if I were to lose this fight - or even to let Jen show well - would be unthinkable. That's why I'm going at this fight prep like it's Kaley Cuoco or Missy Peregrym, and that's why I'm so intense. It's out of respect, but it's also imperative that I draw the curtain down on Jennifer in emphatic fashion."

"That's why I wanted Jessica Biel for my finale," Jen shrugs in prefight. "She's always had special intensity where I was concerned - she's always measured herself against me, and I believe that in her own mind, she's always come up a bit shorter than she thought she should have. So I say bring it on: Jess at her best; Jess with all her ballistic fury. I never asked for cupcakes during the height of my career and I'm not about to start now!"

Adidas providing complementary track-inspired 2 piece fighting-suits with bikini-fit sprinter's bottoms - Black top/yellow bottoms with diagonal black side-panels for Jen; small black gloves; hair in long french braid wound round the head and coiled into battle bun at back; ultra-light adidas boxing shoes in yellow/black - no socks. Jessica in baby blue top/white bottoms with baby blue diagonal sid-panels; small powder blue gloves; dark-blonde hair in frisky ponytail; ultra-light adidas boxing shoes in blue/white - no socks.

During R1: Jess: right at cheek; left elbow up and out the side as she jabs while pivoting clockwise around a peg-leg left foot. Jen: dukes up/palms out/elbows in, matching Jessica's course and speed, parrying poke with her open right hand; jabbing back stiff with her left. Biel mounting sporadic walking-barrage attacks - punching straight right/left/right combos as she's stepping in. Garner blocking/legging away. Jessica generally the aggressor - Garner content to conduct recon, feeling Jess out in the first.

R2: Jess: right at cheek; weight forward on left leg; left hand low now, swaying pendulum style in front of her leg: Garner dukes up/palms out/elbows in. Biel flashing the up-jab from the dangling left; feinting with her head - looking to pounce in lead-righty...Jen calm in the pocket, trying to pre-empt pounce with her jab, then clean up if she can catch Biel at middle distance. Minute mark, Jen executes to perfection - stubbing her jab out on Jessi's face; pasting Jess the quick right cross to chin; hooking tight to chin and BLONDE GIRL ROCKED! Jessica stunned, staggering back into ropes...Garner scowling, walking her foe down, jabbing to prep, then whacking the waistline right/left! Jessica groaning, sliding off to her right...Jen in hot pursuit, lunging for Biel as blonde front collapses. LEFT HOOK, JESSICA BIEL! Garner wading in, loading up righty and TAGGED flush to chin as Biel counters cute off the ropes...Jen out on her feet, torso lolling on stiff legs - mighty thighs and backside holding her up! Biel over to offence, rotating to her right while raking come-along hooks across Jennifer's face, turning brunette counterclockwise, knocking her back into ropes. Lunging right hand CLANGS upside Jen's head, draping her spellbound on ropes; sweeping left CLAPS across her mouth, punching the gumshield off her teeth. POOR JEN! Garner sagging into ropes, fists at her waist, glassy eyes just staring into the full majesty of Jessica Biel unleashed! BIEL POURS ON THE HURT! Jessica's backside shuddering side to side as she leans into pasting rights; shifts weight to right leg to heave lefts across...Garner in stupor, lifting right hand to left cheek as she slumps against ropes. STOP THE FIGHT REF! Biel so energetic - ballistic body tense and humming with KO-lust and DOWN GOES JENNIFER! Garner bellying in, left cheek moist on canvas as she sprawls at Jessica's feet...goodnight sweet princess that's KO2 Jessica Biel!

AFter: Biel leaping for joy, crying tears of exultation - running back to stoop over Jen and crow at her unconscious back, then jumping into corner-ropes to bellow into roaring crowd. Jen battered into submission by a typically electrifying Biel assault...she wanted Jessica at her best; she got the best Jessica Biel anyone's seen in a good long while.

Garner tended to in deliberate fashion - first rolled to her back; gently brought round; gingerly sat up for smelling salts; cut above her left eye dealt with. Look in her eyes when she comes around is heartbreaking, but she keeps herself together - poised and classy to the last. Gingerly brought to her feet, Jen is guided to her corner by MEW at her right elbow, Nichols at her left...tension evident between Rachel and Jessica as Biel nears - Nichols stepping protectively in front of Jen - but Garner allows the approach. Biel giving Jen a warm hug...combatants share a moment of conversation and reflection as officials and entourages fill the ring.

"I wanted to show Jennifer that it was time for her to go," Biel says in postfight, "and I believe she got the message. You can't question her heart - her fighting desire - even her core-strength and fitness...but it's clear that her reflexes aren't where they need to be - not at lightweight they aren't...and when I exploited that, she just didn't have enough in the tank to resist me. She's got her answer - it's a hard answer - ring answers always are - but it's the truth. She can hold her head high, and fans can celebrate the fact that Jennifer Garner gave everything she had for them. As for me, I'll cherish this victory - it brought me even with Jen head to head, and it showed what kind of competitor I am. I only hope that when I'm wondering whether or not to hang 'em up, that someone like me will be prepared to give as honest an answer."
