BEFORE:
"There's no question her management forced her into this," says a smiling Emmanuelle. "She ran from me for years in Canada. I tried to bring her to battle in the ring, on the carpet, anywhere, and I couldn't. She wouldn't say 'boo' to me when I guested on 'Five-O'. Everyone wondered why we didn't have a fight scene. I suggested one, but I KNOW she vetoed it. Well, tonight, she doesn't GET a veto. I've got her right where I want her, and she KNOWS it."
"Vaugier's full of herself and always HAS been," says Grace, crossing her arms across her chest. "I'm not a hard girl to find and I never was. She just never WANTED to find me. But she'll know RIGHT where I am tonight. I'm going to be the girl standing in front of her whipping her a**!"
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside and...wait...the lights just went down...laser show...'Also Sprach Zarathustra'
McCarthy: "Oh, for...what is SHE...she's not even on the card!"
O'Dell: "But Brooklyn Decker on her way down here with Daniela Ruah. Both wearing robes, though, as Mack points out, neither on the card tonight. Into the ring now and Ruah wants a mic..."
Daniela: "Good evening, fans. I hope you've had a great time so far!"
O'Dell: "Crowd popping, as expected..."
Brooklyn(taking the mic): "Well, as the STARS of Front Street Boxing, Dani and I wanted to come down tonight and thank you all for your support. It means a lot to us. And, we know all of you would love to see US in the ring tonight..."
O'Dell: "Crowd popping big on that one..."
Brooklyn: "But, we can't be on every card. But, that doesn't mean we can't give you a treat. How about we show you our new bikinis?"
McCarthy: "Oh, for..."
O'Dell: "Biggest pop yet..."
Brooklyn: "On three, Dani. One. Two..."
O'Dell: "Crowd roaring as Decker and Ruah reveal matching barely there pink bikinis..."
Brooklyn: "You like?"
O'Dell: "This place is going crazy..."
McCarthy: "Easy stomach. Don't turn over now. Easy..."
Dani: "Well, we've got one more piece of news. Brooke and I are doing a special breast cancer awareness charity photo shoot in these this week. Calendars and all kinds of merchandise with the pictures will be available on the Front Street website with all the proceeds going to cancer research!"
Tess: "Admirable..."
McCarthy: "Sh...be q...NEVERMIND!"
Brooklyn: "So open those wallets!"
O'Dell: "Crowd popping huge now as Decker and Ruah leave the ring, music and light show accompanying their exit..."
McCarthy: "Five minutes of my life I'll never get back..."
O'Dell: "And, the lights back up and that's the 'Hawaii Five-O' theme and that can only mean that Grace Park is on her way to the ring first...Wonder how much she loves having Decker and Ruah come down and steal the spotlight before HER main event..."
Tess: "Wasting no time getting to the ring, much like Dennings in our last contest. Not even sparing a glare for Mac..."
McCarthy: "She KNOWS better than to eye ME. I'll be happy to give her some more of what she got the LAST time we fought..."
O'Dell: "Park into the ring. Helped off with the robe by Neve and Jewel to reveal that medium blue number she favors...and THAT little ditty you hear is 'The Underdog' by Spoon, and here comes a lady who's not much of one tonight...if she even IS one...Emmanuelle Vaugier..."
Tess: "I'm on record as picking Grace, of course, but, you're right, Jenny, Vaugier's not much of an underdog here. This is a fight that can certainly go either way."
O'Dell: "Emmanuelle into the ring. Off comes the robe and she's wearing a lovely purple two piece that's gotten the attention of the crowd. About ready to go here, Mac. How about a pick?"
McCarthy: "I don't think Vaugier's an underdog at all. I think she's better than Park and I think she'll win."
O'Dell: "There's the bell for the first and Park immediately putting on the heat, trying to use that loooong reach to her advantage. Vaugier slick, though, picking off punches, countering, working her feet to manage distance..."
McCarthy: "Park's all about volume. If you can deal with that, slow her down, counter, land your own stuff, you can beat her just like I did. The danger is that she suppresses you with her workrate. Vaugier not letting that happen right now."
O'Dell: "She is not, Mac. Emmanuelle dictating terms right now, very effective with her counters. Park's getting some offense of her own in, no question, but it's Vaugier who's calling the match, so to speak."
McCarthy: "Emmanuelle showing excellent timing. Has Park just a shade off, just an instant late on a lot of stuff."
O'Dell: "Another nice counter at the bell for Vaugier, who shoots a glare at Grace before turning back to the O&E corner. Good round for Emmanuelle!"
Tess: "Certainly was. Always nice to get on the board first, and Vaugier has."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell! "Second round underway now and Park finding the range with that left and follows up with a right. Vaugier lands a left hand counter but Park rips off another flurry and throws Emmanuelle onto the defensive."
McCarthy: "Park beginning to land punches in bunches here. This is where she's dangerous. She's landing from range, forcing suppressing Vaugier's fire."
O'Dell: "And she's clearly in rhythm, putting things together and landing a high percentage of leather right now. Vaugier trying to answer, but not having much success."
Tess: "She's not getting off enough. Park lands and Vaugier tries to answer, but before she can, Grace is back to work."
O'Dell: "And there's a scintillating flurry for Park! A couple of solid shots land. Vaugier a left that snuck through in counter and there's the bell. We're even up, ladies."
Tess: "19-19 through two."
ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "Round three underway now and Park right back to work. Vaugier responding to the body now, slipping inside to work hooks to Park's ribs. Grace bangs back upstairs and Emmanuelle digs in again down below."
McCarthy: "Pitched battle right now. Both girls getting some work done."
Tess: "Mac, we've talked about some similarities in these two. One we haven't mentioned is that both ladies sometimes fight at light but, like Laura Vandervoort, may be more effective at bantam."
McCarthy: "Well, they're both BIG bantams. Park's freaking 5'10". There are lightweights she has by three inches! She's a tough matchup for some girls at bantam because of all that reach. So, it's not always easy for her to get fights at this weight. Vaugier has a similar problem. She's not as tall as Park, but she's 5'7" and strongly built. She can fight at light for sure, but she prefers to work at 120, like Park and for similar reasons. At light, both of these girls, like Vandervoort, are going to be giving up weight. Down here, it's the OTHER girl who's usually at a size disadvantage."
O'Dell: "And neither girl at much of a disadvantage in this round, as both continue to find the range and land effectively to the bell. Close one..."
McCarthy: "Park a little busier. A bit more effective. I think she got it, but it was close."
Tess: "29-28 Grace through three."
ROUND FOUR:
O'Dell: "We're into the fourth of what's been a competitive one so far and Park lands a couple of hard shots there! Backed Vaugier up a step with that right hand and quickly follows up with another solid flurry!"
McCarthy: "That straight right was the best punch of the fight so far."
O'Dell: "Vaugier being backed up again now as Grace lands a sharp left hook. Emmanuelle covering up as Park has the range and the rhythm going."
McCarthy: "Those power shots took Vaugier out of her game a little. She got caught working in and it's got her on her heels a little."
O'Dell: "And Park going to keep her there, pouring on the pressure, backing Emmanuelle into the ropes with a final flurry at the bell. Best round of the night for Park."
Tess: "And Grace has edged out to a modest lead now, 39-37."
ROUND FIVE:
O'Dell: "Back to work in the fifth and Vaugier lands a couple of nice counters, digs to the body with a left hook and then Park responds with a solid combination. Vaugier steps in, hooks the midsection. Grace ties her up, shoves her off, lands a double-tap jab."
McCarthy: "Vaugier determined to work into range. She's not going to let Grace keep her outside and pick her apart."
O'Dell: "And she's doing it effectively. Park scoring as well, making Emmanuelle work to get into range, banging body a bit herself when Vaugier gets there."
McCarthy: "Emmanuelle's starting to use the J-Mac playbook against Park. Work into range, work the body and look for a big counter."
O'Dell: "She's got the first two prongs done, but hasn't managed the third. Meanwhile Grace continues to score herself as the round comes to a close. Another competitive one..."
Tess: "Park again close..."
McCarthy: "Agreed. Park 49-46 now."
ROUND SIX:
O'Dell: "We're into the second half of the fight now and Park turning up the heat. Letting the hands go, and Vaugier with a nice right hand counter! Emmanuelle back to the body, takes a jab, counters with a straight right."
McCarthy: "Vaugier's getting the distance she wants right now. Using excellent timing and good feet to get into good position to counter Park's flurries."
O'Dell: "Grace lands a nice right-left. VAUGIER AN OVERHAND RIGHT AND DOWN GOES PARK!"
McCarthy: "Say hello to prong number three! A nasty right hand counter off Park's left!"
O'Dell: "Vaugier to a neutral corner. Referee's count at four. Five. Six. Park to her feet. Will take the mandatory. Referee going to allow it to continue. Vaugier right across the ring at Grace, banging away at the body, forcing Park ropeside, looking to finish here, Mac!"
McCarthy: "Emmanuelle has her in trouble for sure. Park in a high guard, tight elbows, just trying to survive this thing."
O'Dell: "Vaugier all in. Winging everything including the proverbial kitchen sink at 'The Korean Krusher'. Park hanging on as Vaugier batters her midsection, then splits the gloves with a straight left. Emmanuelle hammering away at Grace's gloves now, looking for the finisher...but she's out of time! There's the bell ending the sixth and it was ALL Emmanuelle Vaugier."
Tess: "And she's right back in it. 57-56 now, through six. And if the judges gave Emmanuelle one of those two close ones..."
ROUND SEVEN:
O'Dell: "Seventh round now underway. Park jabbing with that left. Vaugier out on the end of it. Grace fits a right. Bangs body with a long left hook. Vaugier pretty passive right now, Mac..."
McCarthy: "Might be a little gassed after the blitz at the end of the last round..."
O'Dell: "Park a CRISP left-right and Vaugier backed up a step..."
Tess: "Grace has figured this out..."
O'Dell: "She certainly HAS and she's going to work! Park letting the hands go and SNAPPING back Vaugier's head with a right. Emmanuelle being forced back, misses a counter and PARK STAGGERS HER WITH A COMBINATION! VAUGIER STUMBLES INTO THE ROPES..."
McCarthy: "Only thing that kept her from going down..."
O'Dell: "And Park letting loose a vicious flurry! Sweat flying from Vaugier's head as three solid shots land! Emmanuelle in a high guard hanging on! Grace a right hand! Vaugier staggers right! Grace lands another flurry to the head! Vaugier hanging in the ropes! Park snaps the head back with a left...RIGHT HAND SNAPS IT AGAIN! VAUGIER'S HANDS COMING DOWN...IT'S OVER! REFEREE LEAPING IN BETWEEN THEM AS EMMANUELLE IS DEFENSELESS! THE WINNER BY TKO7 IS 'THE KOREAN KRUSHER, GRACE PARK!"
Tess: "Impressive. Got up off the mat and stopped her."
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I've got our winner, Grace Park, and, Grace, in that last round...you knew she was gassed, didn't you?"
Grace: "I suspected it. I wanted to be careful at first, but, when I could see she was spent, I knew I had her. I wasn't trying to give her any time to recover. I just put the pedal to the metal and the leather to her face. Oh if she's ever trying to find me again, feel free to give her directions to Front Street. It's right up the road. Not that I expect her to come looking."
