FOXFIRE UNITED VS FRONT STREET JAPAN #4
(Results: Knowlesey; Writing: Archer)
At 35 and 38, respectively, Danielle Harris of Foxfire and Kei Mizutani of Front Street Japan, have years of ring experience between them. “It’s not often these days that I’m the younger fighter in a bout,” Dani jokes in pre-fight. “I welcome the opportunity to fight someone of maturity and experience,” Kei says politely, “it’s refreshing not to have to fight one of these young girls.”
Dani in a white one-piece suit, cut high in the thighs and with a plunging neckline. Kei in a blue one-piece, high cut, but with a more conservative neckline. Dani gloves for Harris, blue gloves for Kei. Hair loose for both ladies.
Rd 1: Dani Harris clearly out to show superior mobility from the outset as she darts back and forth smacking some neat shots in Kei. However the hit-and-run tactics don’t faze Kei Mizutani who just keeps slowly working to corner the American and close her down. In the final minute Kei has Dani pinned against the ropes and is driving hard into the smaller girl’s body. Dani writhing under the repeated impacts lets her guard drop and Kei lands a heavy right hand to the Foxfire girls mouth. Dani thrown against the ropes and clings to them to keep from going down. Kei firing into Dani’s body until ref finally able to separate them. Dani looking shaky as the bell rings. Close round goes to Danielle for dominating most of the round even though she got hammered late.
R2: Kei now takes command of the bout. She goes on the attack at once, driving Dani back to ropes where she administers a hard beating to Dani’s body, especially the ribs and rack. Dani being softened up inside. Then Kei suddenly shifts to hard left hands to the face, a few of these and Dani spills to the canvas. She is groggy, but uses the ropes to pull herself up to her feet ahead of the count. Fight resumes, but it’s more of the same as Kei forces Dani back to the ropes and pastes her hard to the body. Dani starting to sob in pain, slumps forward and might have gone down but the bell rings and Dani able to grab the ropes to keep herself up. Long, slow trip back to the stool for Danielle. Kei looking brisj and business-like in returning to her own corner.
R3: Dani slow to rise off her stool as the bell rings. Kei flies across the ring and starts beating down the little brunette in her own corner! Dani’s face knocked back again and again by Kei’s punching. Dani’s eyes glazing over, but she manages to keep her guard up though Kei able to easily go over and under it to score. Finally a ripping right hook on the side of the head sends Dani stumbling sideways and then flat on her face. Danielle able to roll over onto her back, but that’s all as she is unable to recover as the referee’s count reaches 10. The winner by KO3 Kei Mizutani of Front Street Japan.
After: 3 wins to 1 now guarantees Front Street Japan will do worse than tie Foxfire United. Kei Mizutani very happy in the post fight: “I defeated their most experienced fighter and knocked her out. Now my sisters can go on and win the rest of these fights. We of Front Street Japan know how to defend our territory. Let this be a lesson to others!”
Jennifer Garner, speaking for the understandably unavailable Danielle Harris says simply: “Kei was one tough fighter. Dani did her best but it wasn’t enough. We look forward to evening things up in the remaining two fights on the card.”
