Before” Claire Danes just beaming during preflight. “I’ve already taken so much from Mish Williams,” declares the diminutive diva, “but it’s time to take it all, I’m going to do what Eliza only ever dreamed of doing: beat Mish Williams out of boxing. She’s hurting, discouraged, doubting herself and oh no: Claire’s up next. Sucks to be Mish, doesn’t it?” Williams stone-faced throughout--fielding questions about being mired in the worst slump in boxing. “My slump ended the day HISC fed-exed us the contracts for this fight. Claire thinks I’m used up and done--that’s the only reason she wants this fight, to pile on and ruiin me. I just have to thank Claire--she’s snapped me out of it. I’ve had the best camp of my life and I’m going to get everything back in one fight. Get ready Claire, ‘cause it’s comin’.”

During R1: Danes still smiling when SHE’S TACKLED AROUNF THE WAIST AND DRIVBEN INTO THE TURNBUCKLES! Whiplash impact--Claire’s head rocking back and forth--Williams comes out of the tackle punching! Mish bracing Claire with a left on the blonde’s shoulder, challenger swinging a lusty right hand, going at Claire’s tasty midriff with ROBUST pumping action--poor Danes jerking up against the corner with every slamming impact. Ref breaks it up, pushes Mish back, but she’s right back on with a blazing overhand right, sailing into Danes, shoulder-butting her chest, then scrambling to hustle leather in on the waist. Mish just swarming on Claire--head down, arms driving into thighs, trunks, tummy and tits, Danes gray with punishment, stuffed awkwardly into the ropes and pinned down by sheer aggression--she can’t get room to breathe, let alone do her thing. Bell to bell rampaging Mish--Danes just sick about it at the break. Ref turns his back and Mish reaches across to dig that right elbow deep into Claire’s paunch! Danes crying out, sagging sideway into the ropes--ranks of Mish Williams fans roar to their feet loving the early spirit of their girl, hoping she can keep it up.

R2: DING! Mish is on Claire in a crazed rush, wrapping up, leg driving the champ into the ropes, then writhing to come up slugging. Danes wide-eyed in shock--she’s being muscled, bullied, treated without respect--this isn’t the Claire Danes we’ve seen over the last few months. Mish dipping side to side as she pulls in marauding lefts and rights, head routinely clouting and clipping Claire’s chin. Danes able to duck and roll anything upstairs, but Williams cagier than she looks--going after the body almost exclusively, bodying up, doing as much mauling, pushing andf jostling as punching. Williams repeatedly hauled off by the redf and warned for roughhousing--she’s shoving her way back in, stacking Danes up against the ropes and wearing out her tummy with nonstop hate. Final moments--Danessinks to one knee ashen-faced--is she a veteran relieving pressure, or a girl hurt to the body? Back to back shutouts--Danes haggard, hugging herself as she slouches in her stool--HISC trainer, screaming at the ref to quash Williams tackling--Mish smoldering, spitting angrily at her corner for no good reason.

R3: Claire falling back under a hail of bludgeoning overhand rights, blocking them, but hitting the ropes in disarray--Mish drives a shoulder deep to gut--legs churning up canvas to press Claire deep into the strands, Same suffocating, smothering, brawling action--Claire can’t get room to roam, can’t get off her heels--Mish right on her chest and clawing, clubbing, bashing away. Williams getting to Claire’s chin with uppercuts, tight n’ tasty inside, falling in with the shoulder afterwards--Danes starting to drift, shipping shits, trying to stay supple and loose, but it’s all Mish Williams operating on a helpless champion. Midway through, Williams softens Claire up with a brazen jug-mugging, pumping lefts and rights up into firm breasts, then challenger stakes all on a murderous series of hooks, digging in under the elbow and PUTTING CLAIRE DOWN! Danes grimacing, on bended knee--Mish tilts, swings a right hand square to the face to sprawl Claire at the ropes, earning a stern finger-wag from a panicky ref. Third shutout Mish Williams--Claire in shock, 3 guys in her corner screaming contradictory instructions.

R4: MISH! William surging in, tackling, driving her girl to the ropes, then holding her down--it’s classic, vintage Mish at her savage best. Williams’ fists constantly digging in trunk and tummy, or clubbing away head and shoulders--Danes sluggish, arms crossed, laying over on one side or the other, just trying to blunt the damage, hoping for exhaustion to take effect--but Williams just keeps coming. Mish the bully, beating Claire into a double-up swoon, then palming her upright, job of work to stack Danes up against the ropes, then work her over some more. Claire getting hit on the jaw and temples now as Mish breaks down the defence--blonde shabby, wilting, offering nothing back--she can’t keep Mish off. Then there’s the constant tousle rubbing, the shoulder-butts, the elbow-pushes, the body-pressing--it’s non-stop, just one girl going at another with everything she’s got, heaping on, plugging body with those murderous double and triple right hands. Claire coming apart at the seams, not punching back, head lolling drowsily, torso sliding forward or to the sides--she’s limp, dazed with punishment, but nothing’s holding Mish back. After the midway point, this thing becomes a dreadful beat-down--Williams able to catch Claire with tawdry hooks on the chops or beefy right hands square amidships, then simply prop her up for more. Finally, inevitably, Claire pools to canvas, mouth pouted open in abject surrender. As insane Mish Williams drops to her knees to pound her slumbering opponent’s exposed back in a tantrum--ref has to pick her ip and carry her away. Stunning KO4 Mish Williams.

After: it’s not just a shattering title bout upset, it’s not just 4 rounds of ugly perfection from Mish, it is in fact, the worst beating of Claire Danes’ career. Slick champion never got on track, never really landed a scoring blows as Williams tore into her foe from the opening bell and didn’t let up until Danes lay out cold on her stomach. Mish pushes her way past Syren and helps herself to the dregs, pulling a helpless, woozy Danes to her feet, cinching her up tight around the waist in a greedy right arm and dragging her at the stumble for a soul-sucking walk of shame. Claire barely there, head droopping back and forth, held tight and put on show: Mish back with a vengeance, dishing out as savage and reckless a beating as we’ve seen all year.
