MIRAGE AT THE ASYLUM
Posted by Results By Sim/Words By Wiz on November 25, 2012, 12:48 am, in reply to "Mirage At The Asylum"
BEFORE:
"Give Wiz credit, I guess," says a sweetly smiling Lady Gaga. "He keeps throwing his flyweights at me. Lavigne? KO. Seyfried? KO. Now Jamie Lynn. Two letters. K. O."
"Oh, I know all about what she did to Amanda and Avril," says Jamie Lynn. "But I'm not Amanda or Avril. I'm the top flyweight at Front Street. And I'm going to prove it."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside and Jamie Lynn and Wiz giving the respect to The Fame Monster, because that's 'Follow Me' booming through the arena and here comes a bouncing, smiling Jamie Lynn Spears!"
McCarthy: "One of the things I like about this kid is, she enjoys this. She loves boxing. It's fun for her. And that's a big part of the battle right there."
O'Dell: "Spears led to the ring by big sis. Climbs inside. Slaps glove to hand with Jewel and Neve, who will climb down and take seats in the front row. Britney, as always, will handle the corner for Jamie Lynn. Helps her off with the robe to reveal a pink bikini...and that's 'Edge Of Glory' you hear, and here comes the international sensation that IS Lady Gaga!"
McCarthy: "I think this girl may well benefit from new management, Jenny. She's got talent and a huge name, but she was buried at fly over at Empire, where Hough and Miller are getting all the attention. Given a push, though, Gaga can be a factor."
O'Dell: "Lady G into the ring, helped off with the robe by the Mirage corner staff to reveal a leopard print number that the crowd certainly likes. Ladies about ready. This one between two girls that, according to the rankings, are fairly even. Tess on record as favoring Gaga. What do you think, Mac?"
McCarthy: "The thing with Spears is, she has a high ceiling and a low floor. Some fights, she looks great, like when she took out Song and Spearritt. Other nights, she looks awful, like when she lost to Ashlee Simpson. Now, the high ceiling/low floor is better than the opposite, because, with experience, that floor will get higher...or it should. But, in the mean time, you end up with inconsistency. And that's why she's behind a girl like Stewart. And it's also why I have to favor Gaga. Jamie Lynn can beat her, and if she's at that ceiling, she will. But, if she's nearer the floor, this is Gaga's night."
Tess: "Whatever they pay you, Mac, it isn't enough."
McCarthy: "You ARE learning, Walmart."
O'Dell: "And there's the bell for the first, Gaga very busy right off the bell. Moving and snapping off jabs. Following with right hands. Lady G very athletic and showing that now. Spears athletic, too. Able to match footwork, use that long left to score some points..."
McCarthy: "Jamie Lynn the bigger girl and she should be using that reach for the left and working the body like Katy Perry did last fight."
O'Dell: "Spears IS landing. Fighting in spots. Putting punches together, but maybe trying to be a bit too fine."
McCarthy: "Agreed, Jenny. She needs to stop waiting so much, looking for perfect opportunities. Got to take what Gaga's giving her. Get in good position and let 'em go."
O'Dell: "And that's exactly what Lady G is doing. She's missing some, but she's landing and scoring with others. And, as the final seconds tick off, she's outscored Jamie Lynn in round one."
McCarthy: "Sure has. That was a good round for Gaga."
Tess: "And has her up 10-9."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Back to action in the second and Gaga VERY aggressive here. Right after Jamie Lynn. Lands a solid left...AND THERE'S A RIGHT HOOK THAT SHOOK JAMIE LYNN'S LEGS! Gaga going to work now, backing Spears up, clearly has her buzzed..."
McCarthy: "This is one of the things that makes Gaga so dangerous, and why I think she can go a long way with a push. VERY aggressive. INSTINCTIVELY aggressive. And that can pay big dividends."
O'Dell: "It's doing so now as Gaga is banging away at Spears. Jamie Lynn getting her legs under her now and trying to fight back. Gaga RINGS HER UP with a left hand counter and goes back to work. Jamie Lynn tying up. Unsteady. Trying to use that size to smother Gaga's offense."
McCarthy: "Gaga trying to end this thing early, just like she did against Seyfried."
O'Dell: "She's working some body inside now. Spears trying to rally back, but Gaga all over her. Jamie Lynn game but being out hit and out fought by a Gaga buzz saw. Spears game to the bell, but it's all Gaga in the second."
Tess: "Lady G building a bit of a lead now, up 20-18."
ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "Spears getting a talking to from big sis between rounds."
McCarthy: "And I don't blame Britney here. Jamie Lynn not being aggressive at all. Letting Gaga dictate the fight. This is the same thing that happened to her in the Simpson fights. Getting buzzed early and getting behind. And that's not something she's dealt with well. We saw Stewart rally from some adversity earlier tonight, something she's always been able to do. Jamie Lynn needs to show she can do that, too."
O'Dell: "Third is underway and again Gaga the aggressor. Working with that jab to set up her right hand. Very, very busy."
Tess: "I get the feeling Gaga's getting into a pretty good rhythm here, Mac, and Jamie Lynn needs to do something to break this up..."
McCarthy: "Right on the head, Walmart. Right on the head."
O'Dell: "Spears against the ropes. Covering up. Gaga landing upstairs and down. Using those quick hands and good feet. Jamie Lynn completely on the defensive. Able to counter occasionally, but not scoring nearly enough."
McCarthy: "I'm wondering if this kid is hurt or something. She's not doing much at all."
O'Dell: "Unlike Gaga, who continues her work, in total control to the bell."
McCarthy: "Another shut out round for Lady G."
Tess: "30-27, Gaga. Spears needs to get in gear."
ROUND FOUR:
O'Dell: "Fourth round underway and Gaga continuing to work. Spears again covering up to absorb. Not getting off."
McCarthy: "I have no idea what's happening here. The kid doesn't look hurt, but she's not DOING anything. An occasional counter. Just waiting and waiting. No idea what she's waiting for."
O'Dell: "Well, whatever it is, Gaga isn't waiting around for it. She's busy with both hands. Backing Spears into the ropes and going to work."
McCarthy: "It's like she's working a heavy out there. Just getting her cardio in. Squaring up her punches nicely. In a perfect rhythm..."
Tess: "Why wouldn't she be? Jamie Lynn's not doing anything to break it. She's just covering up."
O'Dell: "Not sure what the issue is, but Gaga is taking full advantage. Not getting wild. Staying within herself. But getting the work done and scoring points. There's the bell and that's four straight for Gaga by wider and wider margins."
McCarthy: "Spears back to the corner looking what? Discouraged? Shellshocked? Whatever it is, this kid is out of this fight. She's dug herself a huge hole and doesn't look like digging out."
Tess: "40-36, if anyone's still counting."
ROUND FIVE:
O'Dell: "Into the fifth now and we still see an aggressive Gaga and a passive Jamie Lynn. Spears. Gaga poking with that left, using the right to hook off it. Jamie Lynn nothing but the odd counter...AND GAGA FLOORS HER WITH THAT RIGHT HOOK!"
McCarthy: "Set that up beautifully with a pair of lefts."
O'Dell: "Spears to her knees at four. She's going to beat the count. Referee gives her the mandatory and will let it continue..."
McCarthy: "Might be better if he stops it now."
O'Dell: "On comes Gaga. Smelling blood in the water now. Backing Spears up, working her over along the ropes. Jamie Lynn covering up, hanging on. Trying to weather the assault."
McCarthy: "Gaga just battering Spears around the apron. Patient. Might as well be. She's built a commanding lead here. No sense rushing. If the finisher comes, fine. If not, get yourself more of a workout, because Spears is resisting about as much as that heavy bag we talked about earlier..."
Tess: "I hear tell you once got a black eye from a heavy bag..."
McCarthy: "That's not TRUE..."
Tess: "Of course, my sources say you WERE sick that day..."
McCarthy: "I have no IDEA what you're talking about..."
Tess: "I hear it was a bad case of Bieber Fever..."
McCarthy: "Shut UP, Walmart!"
O'Dell: "Drink up, boys...AND DOWN GOES SPEARS! ANOTHER RIGHT HOOK SET UP BY A LEFT HAND AND SPEARS DOWN FOR THE SECOND TIME THIS ROUND..."
McCarthy: "This fight's been a nightmare for the kid. They need to stop this thing..."
O'Dell: "Jamie Lynn doggedly to her knees. Again, she beats the count. Referee gives her the mandatory and will let it continue. Gaga right on the younger girl again. Turning up the heat now, looking for the 'off' button. Spears clinching, smothering Gaga with her length, tying her up, running clock. Gaga banging free and landing a couple of more good shots. Lady G just AWESOME tonight! Spears battered. Referee looking in. But there's the bell and the fifth is over."
Tess: "I guess we have to continue keeping score. 50-44 now."
McCarthy: "Hudgens and Kat Graham already on Twitter. That aren't going to be alone after this. Going to be a lot of haters lining up for shots at this kid. And I don't know how many supporters she's going to have left after this."
ROUND SIX:
O'Dell: "Lot of talking in the Front Street corner between rounds. Britney concerned here. Referee coming over and asking Jamie Lynn if she wants to continue. Spears nodding emphatically..."
McCarthy: "Not going to 'Do A Prejean'..."
Tess(chuckling): "Is that what we're calling quitting on your stool now?"
McCarthy: "That's what I'M calling it. And if Carrie Noheart has a problem with it, she knows where to find me."
Tess: "I'm guessing not too many ladies would want to take you up on that, Mac. You've proven even more dangerous in a brawl than in the ring."
McCarthy: "I'm Irish and from Chicago. Let's just say I've BEEN in a brawl or two."
O'Dell: "And there's the bell for the sixth and here comes Gaga! Lady G rocking Jamie Lynn back into the ropes. Scintillating stuff from Gaga! Spears covering up again as Gaga gets off lustily with both hands. Gaga snaps Spears' head back with a right hand...and there's the bell! IT'S OVER...WHAT..."
McCarthy: "Britney threw in the towel. She's seen enough and I'm glad she did it. No sense letting this kid take any more punishment..."
O'Dell: "Jamie Lynn just FORLORN on the way back to her corner. Not happy with the decision to end this, I think. But has to be even more disappointed with her performance. Has to be the worst of her career..."
McCarthy: "And that's saying something after those two Simpson fights. Like I said, low floor. And if she's going to ever be a contender in the FCBA, that has to change."
O'Dell: "Meanwhile, a great performance by our winner by TKO6, 'The Fame Monster', LADY GAGA!"
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I have our winner, Lady Gaga, and, Gaga, you were unstoppable tonight..."
Lady Gaga: "Look, this is how good I can be. I never really got a chance at Empire, and I understand that. They have so many other good girls it's hard to get noticed. But I can beat any fly in the world on a given night. ANY fly. What you saw tonight, that's what I do. I dominate 'em. I discourage 'em. I wear 'em down. And I finish 'em. Just get me fights. Are you hearing me, Mirage? Just get me fights and watch what I can do!"
