Emmerdale's flagship actress Sammy Winward makes her second appearace in the BBU ring after getting roughed up by Debby Ryan back in April and she's paired against Team Canada's Emilie Ullerup. Both are blonde and tall, in fact one of the tallest flyweights on BBU roster and both need to ignite a spark into their careers. This especially reflects to Ullerup who scored a great win over Heidi Range back in February before sitting on the sidelines for many months and only making her comeback recently with woeful results. She lost to both Nikki Sanderson and Rhiannon Fish and if she fails to beat Winward it would mean she's firmly in a slump.
Winward makes her way to the ring first, wearing a bright green bikini top, black mini-skirt and matching gloves. Her entrance music is Duran Duran's "My Own Way" and that has brought some memories! But cheers are much louder for Ullerup who despite beating Barnet's local favorites Range and Jeanette Biedermann so far in her career, has chosen a real cracker of a tune for her entrance, "Barracuda" by Heart. She's wearing an all black outfit today, bikini top and mini-skirt with matching gloves. It's probably only because of the hair color Clair Meek chose "Lady in Black" ahead of her. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the flyweight division.
Round 1:
Both girls waste no time with ripping into each other and Sammy's rather innocent looks can deceive as Emilie painfully finds out after she gets tagged with couple of hooks on the eye and Winward piles on with more straight jabs to the face; forces the Danish-Canadian to step back but it's still all Winward here as she whips a hooking combo to the temples which leave Ullerup blinking in shock. Sammy pours in with more venom, hassles her foe around the ring and Ullerup keeps her guard high but refuses to close in and hangs on in mid-distance with Sammy not that keen to enforce her presence as time goes by. Late in the round Emilie tries some quick leaps with single shots to the head but she crashes off the forearms and Sammy does likewise, loses her rhythm and fails to punish the Danish-Canadian further before the bell.
Round 2:
Winward with more single jabs over the top, bounces off the gloves before going low and that's an old tactics which contributed to Ullerup's downfall before but she reacts better this time, blocks off Sammy's menacing efforts and whacks her on the mouth in response, follows up with some jugs maulling which forces the Emmerdale actress to cover up but the bashing continues until Emilie notices she's not hurting her rival at all and both girls settle for a clinch in the middle of the ring. Single striking over the top follows after ref separates them with Sammy firmly on the front foot, looking much eager to fight then on her debut against Debby Ryan where she got basically schooled by the US teenager. Ullerup works some hooks on the head but fails to connect and the round goes by without much noteworthy action, the intentions are there but pure skill seems to be somewhat lacking at the moment.
Round 3:
Ullerup storms out of her stool with coach Amanda Tapping urging her to go after the seemingly hittable blonde opponent but Sammy blocks off the low jabs and whacks a cross-hook on the nose in response, gutwrenches the Danish-Canadian with another quick hook and blasts an uppercut straight between the arms that nails the surprised Emilie on the chin! Ullerup wobbles back to the ropes, leans forward but gets tagges with a huge right hook on the eye and she bounces off the ropes, exposed for another lethal punch from the other side. Hook on the eye and DOWN GOES ULLERUP crashing on her side and the crowd errupts in joy as they might have supported Emilie during the entrance but Sammy has showed some courage here by knocking down Range's and Biedermann's conqueror. Emilie blinks in anger, wipes some sweat off her face and gets up at six but she won't want to look in the mirror now as Sammy gave her a nasty lump under the eye! Winward keeps her forcus, throws more jabs after the command but Emilie seeks a clinch and tangles with her rival along the ropes after a wayward left hook left Sammy exposed and enabled the Danish-Canadian to grab her arm. Winward's unfazed, tries some low jabs to the ribcage but the bell interrupts a brief struggle along the ropes and Ullerup looks more happy of the two to hear it go off.
Round 4:
Winward seeks wounded prey but gets blocked with her efforts on the chest and skims off the ear with a lurid left hook and Ullerup whacks her on the jaw with a big right hand seconds into the fourth! Breast maulling combo follows and Sammy covers up in the middle of the ring as Emilie unloads some heavy leather to the midsection; goes around the elbows with lots of precision and forces the Emmerdale girl back. Sammy keeps the distance with a menacing single hand over the top and Ullerup tries some nifty footwork to trap her in a dangerous spot, but Winward matches her speed and avoids couple of big shots along the way. The momentum has seemingly gone away from Sammy but Emilie fails to do more in this round, just happy to catch some respite and Winward doesn't punish her at all, lets the clock expire after a very lacklustre final minute.
Round 5:
Ullerup on the charge! Right hand on mouth, left on the temple and Sammy doesn't know what hit her within the first ten seconds of the round! Head-snapping sequence from the Danish-Canadian and she pierces Winward'd gloves, nails her on the nose twice and blonde hair suddenly fly everywhere as both girls tangle up in the middle of the ring but it's Sammy eating all the leather and Ullerup whacks her around the guard on the temple, right hook on the ribcage and Winward loses her footing, drops her arms trying to maintain balance but Emilie whacks her on the nose again with a double hooking combo and DOWN GOES SAMMY LANDING HARD ON HER BACKSIDE!!! Tables turned in Barnet with Emilie shaking her glove in front of the stunned Emmerdale starlet however Winward beats the count at six and jumps after her foe straight after the command! Two blondes are now beating the crap out of each other and the crowd absolutely loves it with red-faced Winward catching her for on the temple but getting three shots back on the cheeks and that lumps her up as well. Ullerup drives low, jabbing series to the ribcage finally give her the advantage as she pushes Sammy to the ropes and tags her with couple of uppercuts on the chin and Sammy's hair a mess now after all that head-snapping she's endured, more uppercuts from Emilie, now chest is the target and there's some extended moaning from Winward who sinks on her knees, but stays upright until the bell. Ullerup pretends she didn't hear it, whacks another hook on the temple just after the clock expired and gets lectured by the ref as she walks back to her stool but Sammy's in more trouble now, her face swollen and bruised and she's really taken some stick in this round despite all her courage.
Round 6:
Ullerup leaps out of her stool but credit to Winward, she steps up to her too, no fear whatsoever from the Emmerdale blonde but she misses her hooking effort and gets whacked on the liver with Emilie's first punch, right hand over the top follows, straight on the eye and Sammy wobbles back. Ullerup works the single hand over the top again, just snaps her rival's head at will and gives her more lumps and bruises. Winward's guard is not working anymore and Emilie rips through her gloves all throughout the opening minute, slowly but surely turning her face into a pulp and the speed and agility goes away too as Sammy eventually sags on the ropes and allows Ullerup to clean out her ribcage as well. Maulling like crazy execution from the Danish-Canadian who pounds an aching rival in the stomach with Winward unable to force a clinch. Left hook on the chin almost throws her over the ropes and the knees just give way for poor Sammy AS SHE SLIDES ONTO HER KNEES looking very sour and not having much left in her. That was 90 seconds of one-way traffic and more experienced girls would have fallen under that barrage but Sammy wants to beat the count anyway! She's up on one knee at six, launches herself upright at eight and she's done it... or not? Big wobble as she gets up and she needs to put her hand on the ropes to stay upright... ref stopped the count at nine but he's looking, he's checking... Winward's otherwise pretty face is a mess.. and no, he calls it a day... Sammy really doesn't deserve anymore punishment and she doesn't even contest his decision... TKO R6 Emilie Ullerup!!!
Post-fight:
"Barracuda" is heard all over the KO Club again as Emilie climbs the ropes and celebrates her first BBU victory since February. She was given quite a test by the Emmerdale starlet and ate some leather before finally enforcing her presence. It wasn't as impressive as her punchout of Heidi Range but she definitely has a lot of potential as 5'6" flyweight, just needs more regular action.
Meanwhile Sammy Winward receives a solid applause on her own and allthough she's been roughed up badly especially towards the end of the fight, she showed she's not exactly a dumb blonde pushover today. She even sports a smile and waves to the crowd upon leaving the ring but she's not leaving the KO Club just yet as several lads offer her a drink in the bar and she's accepted that in a kindly manner. Some rumours surfaced about boys indicating Sammy is "much better looking then her hatred Emmerdale nemesis Roxanne Pallett" helped to convince her to stay in the bar but whether some private meetings in the VIP rooms upstairs have been established remains mystery. BBU TV's lead reporter Denise van Outen tweeted from backstage; "Sammy's bed life is no match for Samia Ghadie. I'm not interested."
With all that happening couple of winless bantamweights have made their way into the ring already, so let's join them for the BBU Christmas Special bout number five!
