Before: Landry looking to ratify her position as Number One Contender, takes on brunette nemesis Krista Allen in a de-facto eliminator for the winner of Jewel/Tyra, “Krista’s the one girl at welterweight that Ali’s not real comfortable against,” reports a deep throated insider, “Allen’s size and muscularity are a problem, plus she was a Miss Texas so she KNOWS how to box--she and Ali are a lot alike. Plus,. Allen’s one of the few women in the world who can bump Landry from the cover of Maxim depending upon who has the better day in front of the cameras.” Allen as physically gifted as any woman in the game--hasn’t always performed under big fight pressure and persistent rumours about having a hard time with Brande Roderick in sparring continue to dog the statuesque brunette. Talented girls with questions--Krista in red Baywatch tankini, long brunette extensions, Ali in gold bikini.

During R1: Krista lays down the law--a long crisp jab to Ali’s eyebrows, loping footwork to retreat and circle whenever Landry looks ready to punch. Ali waiting for openings, gets picked over this round from outside.

R2: First minute: Allen boxing beautifully, touching Ali with drilling sticks to the face, stepping crisply to her left, but Landry’s getting the timing down. One punch turns it all around--Ali fading the jab and countering over the top with a booming right on the chin--Allen’s butt shoots out--chest heaves forward as she stumbles sideways and Ali takes over. Ali getting big, palming her foe’s shoulder then pitching in tough right hands to the stomach, walking Allen to the ropes and keeping up a steady beat. Midway point--sustained gut punching has Allen stooped forward, obviously hurting and Ali comes off the body with a biting left hook, turning it over into a clipping left uppercut to drape the opponent senseless at the ropes. Krista’s sinewy legs keep her upright--but she is SWOONING--out on her feet puts the finishing touches on--swatting hooks uptop to get Allen into the corner, then big swinging power shots to the head and waist. Allen reeling and concussed at the bell as Landry works her OVER!

R3: Ali grinning--Allen with a woozy look, lidded eyes--she’s not all the way back. Landry with hands low, feints in, steps out as Allen offers reflex jab and Ali shoots back in with a crashing overhand right, finding eye and sweeping Allen to her back! Krista busted up, tragically hurt, manages to take an 8, but she’s looking at a LONG time to survive with her back to the ropes, Beat down the rest of the way--Ali soaking Allen up, just getting her body on the groaning brunette, bulling her into the ropes, coming at her body and jugs with slashing blows from either side, Krista slug-happy but doing some things defensively, laying over on either side, turning her shoulders--she’s doing just enough to blunt Ali’s attack to make it out of the round.

R4: Shutout Krista Allen. Allen gets her legs back, surprises Ali with some lead rights, bounces some fall away hooks off Landry’s face and Krista’s back in business. Allen not used to getting outboxed from outside, but it happened against Tyra and it’s happening here--Allen with the lively jab from the hip, good head and foot movement, and zesty right hands start to put a punished glow on Ali’s face this round.

R5: Krista doing well again, legs dominating rthe fight keeping Landry at bay, but Ali looking to counter starts to9 find the range. Allen bringing the jab back to her hip and it costs her--Ali once again slips inside Krista’s stick, landing a simultaneous left to push in Krista’s chin and pout her on her heels, then a come back right sweeping up from down low to clock Krista’s face hard to starboard--DOWN GOES ALLEN! Krista scooting to her butt looks all dazed and shabby once again as she painfully crawls to her feet. All Ali in the final minute, Krista hurt on the ropes--Ali bending side to side to pull punches into Allen’s hefty jugs. Meanspirited mugging leaves Krista throbbing at the bell.

R6,7: Gutty effort, gritty execution from Krista Allen as she sucks it up, gets back on her toes and boxes like there’s no tomorrow., Landry’s had good success off the counter--she sticks with it and lands the occasional tough right hand to the gut or hand-spanking cross on the cheek. More often than not however--it’s Allen leading, creating openings with her ice-pick jab--Landry trying to slip it, but Allen very quick mitted, also landing right hands to keep Ali off balance. Allen scoops both round--she’s swelling badly, but recovering--Landry starting to look shopworn, clearly slowing down.

R8: Miss Texas puts it to Miss USA as Allen finds another gear. Landry with the right at her cheek, left across her gut just bobbing and moving her head, not getting off at all as Krista lathers away with lanky combinations from outside. Jab, jab, jolting right cross, backhand the right, hard left hook, backhand the left, another right hand--Ali under siege, bending away from the constant leather looks uncertain how to proceed. Allen working Landry on the ropes for the first time in the bout--she’ll get Landry to covering up with slinging lefts and rights upstairs, then finish the sequence with a withering left hook NICE in behind Landry’s elbow. Ali’s mouth “OHH!” as she takes these booming body shots on her tanned midriff. Payback in the jugs late as Allen bends side to side. Placing short, hard lefts and rights into Landry’s golden cleavage--Ali with a sick pout on her face at the bell as Krista punishes her this round.

R9: Hammer and tongs as the big women stand flat footed, but still classy upstairs, moving their upper bodies, keeping their hands loose, but always ready to block or punch. Working out of the bob, girls pull punches into one another’s ribs or jaws, keeping it close, keeping it compact. Action should favour Landry, but Krista trading toe to toe down the stretch, she stars to step back walking Ali into punches. Allen just turning side to side, pulling lefts and rights into Ali’s jaw--no backswing on the punches. Krista’s just shouldering them in and Landry’s taking them as she leans forward, stumbles in, Landry finally clinches Allen into the ropes at the bell, but she looks exhausted--Krista got the better of her down the stretch.

R10: Back to mid ring--girls planting, covering up, moving their upper bodies to set up blistering counters as punches flow and lather back and forth. it’s non-stop action--nobody loading up, just trying to get one another out of position with a little shoulder roll or duck, then take advantage with a beefy left to the stomach, or little right uppercuts inside. Jugs are banged without restraint--Ali especially effective at bending side to side to slag away at breasts with wide punches--often has Krista stunned momentarily as Landry smokes and ducks. Down t he stretch, Ali starts to impose her will--both girls get their jaws clouted, but it’s Allen stepping back, Allen starting to go on autopilot, just moving her hands without purpose. Landry painfully, step by step, works her girl to the ropes and has her way late--Krista with her left hand low, chin tucked behind hat lead shoulder, right hand at her cheek, slips and rolls well to give Ali no clean contact at the bell,. Comes back a hard fought draw--neither girl is happy with the decision.

After: Gorgeous brunettes are headed to pay per view--They’ll fight under Jewel/Tyra in what should be a bitter struggle after this grinding effort. Landry landing the bigger shots, but getting too patient at times, gambling on the knockout given Krista’s chinny history. “Hey, she put me down, but I got right back up,” an encouraged Allen observes, :”I took Ali’s best shots and that’s got to be haunting her, I feel I let her off the hook--I created the openings, but I didn’t get her hurt when I could have. That won’t happen again.” Landry unavailable for comment afterward--dealing with Allen wasn’t part of the plan for regaining welterweight supremacy.
