Before: Prefight conferences combination hype sessions and press conferences for come backing Janet--Jones ranging over a wide variety of topics. On her opponent: “I didn’t want to come back and fight Kelly Rutherford,” says Double J. “I want the top girls. I see what Basinger’s been able to do at bantam, and that’s definitely what I want to achieve. Win or lose--quality opposition. I’ve wanted to fight Krista ever since I first heard the comparisons between us,” On her split with Theron and replacement as Head Trainer at the Krusher Gym: “there’s no dirt here--I remain on amicable terms with Charlize and the major stakeholders. They know that I’ve been itching to try a serious comeback and this really is a mutual decision. If you look back at Theron’s success, you really can’t separate it from my tutelage: before I came along, Charlize was struggling to win back to back fights, not utilizing her talents--I put her on the track to greatness, and I think she’d be the first to tell you that. Don’t forget--I retired after actually beating up a very young Charlize Theron--I don’t think my abilities were underrated by the company. Her recent struggles have more to do with her own complacency and lack of work ethic in camp than Janet Jones suddenly losing her touch.”

Pundits reserved when it comes to Janet’s chances in the new millennium, but optimistic: “She’s probably physically stronger than she was in her prime,” says BLONDE! magazine features editor, “but we’ve got to see the reflexes, see the rust situation before we draw any conclusions. I think it’s a mistake to jump in with Allen right off the bat, but Janet makes her own matches, io ne thing for sure is that she’s never really taken a sustained beating in the ring--she never got the chance to show her potential in her prime --I think we’re ll curious to see how much she can still bring to the table.”

Allen in black sports bra, red stretch shorts, Janet in navy sports bra, pale blue bikini bottoms--hard working ponytails for both.

During R1: Janet establishing the jab early, Allen elbows in, covered up tight, crouching, looking to time the blonde’s stick. End of the first minute, Krista ducks inside the jab, pulling a crashing overhand right counter into Jones chin, and blonde is welcomed back to the FCBA with a wobbly butt. Janet startled, reels into ropes and is PUNISHED on follow up. Allen squared away, snapping crippling hooks and right hands into the blonde’s flanks and tummy, using her left elbow to prop and push off with, resetting herself to crank ‘em in. Jones seated ropeside, folded forward and grunting wit the abuse, shows a warrior’s heart by soaking it up and answering back late to avoid the shutout.

R2: Allen the aggressor, backing Jones up as brunette wins the early fencing match of jabs. Jones rusty, unable to read Krista’s slicing right cross as the brunette gets over the top the blondes jab time and time again, Janet stepping in fence post holes repeatedly as Allen trades, then finishes exchanges with that jamming right on the jaw. Krista walking her girl down, busier, harder hitting, more aggressive.

R3: Jones sharp shooting this round, patiently sticking the jab into Krista’s left eye, straight right hand into brunette’s right eye, stepping to either side after cracking connects. Allen oading up too much, constantly pre-empted by the blonde’s straight, well timed pokes. Krista on the board late as Janet fades to the ropes--brunette able to get close, turn her shoulders into spanking work back and forth across the gut.

R4: Janet back on Krista’s eyes--accurate, hard straight licks, but once again, blonde laying punches out there and not bringing them back. Midway through, Allen stalking, covering up to block in her crouch, dips under the stick, brings the right hand over the top and sends Jones staggering sideways with another gorgeous clocking bash on the jaw. Jones in disarray--Allen working off the blonde’s left shoulder, jamming away to the jaw over Janet’s guard, driving the older woman to the ropes, Big, brawny beat down to the body--Krista bracing up on Jones with her left forearm, then snap-snapping to the waist with right/lefts. Janet stupefied by this beating--hunching forward with gloves at her temples, groaning in pain as Allen eats her up inside. Krista surveying the damage at the bell--she likes what she sees after 4.

R5: Janet showing young leg, boxing Krista, steering the brunette around the ring. Allen intent on the KO, right hand coiled, but not getting off as Jones works her angles. Good recovery round for the blonde with the fight on the verge of slipping away.

R6: Janet pounding away on Krista’s eyes, straight lefts and rights bashing back the brunettes head, often halting her progress, straightening her up and putting her back on her heels. Jones pivoting away, turning her girl, moving starboard away from Allen’s big right hand--brunette not compensating much for the blondes veteran techniques. Midway through, Jones sidestepping back, times Krista and beats her to spearing right hands: brunette nearly takes a knee as she is shaken up for the first time in the fight--Jones helping herself to tummy with reefing hooks on follow up.

R7: Shutout Janet Jones. Everything’s keying off the jab--Allen’s eyes swelling badly this round as Janet scores at will. Krista leaning back, high guard, not coming forward any more--Jones takes over with vicious, loud licks to the ribcage--biting wide rights and lefts that have Allen sobbing aloud on contact. Jones enjoying some time at the topes, working Krista over with beefy lefts and rights up and down both sides, and scoring up the middle with a jerking little left uppercut that has Allen visibly distraught. Krista falling in to clinch for the first time in the bout--ref issuing breaks as Janet becomes the clear aggressor, always intent on climbing back on and dishing out the hurt.

R8: Janet POUNDING away to the eyes--Allen recoiling now, not picking up the incoming, faltering back awkwardly as the blonde cruelly bangs away. As Krista defends upstairs--Janet steps in close and WELTS that midriff with lashing, crippling licks--buckling Krista’s long legs and sending the brunette cringing into the rtopes, beat down in the second minute as Janet pours it on, looming over the doubled up brunette, slashing at the offered back or stuffing punches in underneath either of Krista’s arms as the brunette clinches around the blonde’s waist. Ref pushing Janet back more often as Allen ties up rather than punching back--Jones coming in waves, driving Krista from corner to corner along the ropes,. Another savage shutout for Jones leaves Allen ragged at the bell.

R9: Allen in complete collapse, eyes swollen to slits--she jumps in to clinch, only to be walked back, wrestled down, and beaten unmercifully by the brick-mitted blonde. Janet fighting with hard0eyed intensity, staying close whenever Krista sits on the ropes, budging and pushing up on the brunette, twisting her hips into heartbreaking blows to the stomach, her fists ricocheting off Allen’s hard abs with meaty smack. With Allen draping forward to clinch, Jones can pump bra with her right hand--Krista suffering in sullen resignation as Janet slams away--blonde looking off into the crowd with satisfaction as she works underneath. Seconds to the bell--Allen slumps to all fours gasping in shock--Jones smiling at the brunette puddle.

R10: Jones fighting at a distance in the first minute, shooting those straight rights and lefts, pounding heartlessly away at Krista’s beauty. By the middle minute, Janet migrates in close, reaching under Allen’s arms, punching her in the stomach, bulling her into the ropes. Krista starts to fight back after rounds of one-sided blonde mastery--savage two way bursts erupts as both girls stand and get off. Down the stretch, Allen leaning into the ropes, laying over on her right side, timing the blonde’s punches, and suddenly sweeping to the left, pulling a slashing right hand across Janet’s mouth to beat the blonde to a right hand and JONES GOES DOWN! Janet on her backside as Krista stomps forward with a hurt snarl--Jones takes 8. All Krista in the final moments as she presses for the stoppage--Jones with her hands up around her face, turning her torso side to side to accept the brunette’s bruising salvoes, Comes back a close UD10 Janet Jones,

After: Jones rusty, hurt often in the first half, rediscovered her old form and battered Krista Allen unrecognizable in the back 9--Krista numb in defeat, treated like a stepping stone and feeling used by HBO, Janet Jones and boxing in general. “I took this fight on short notice,”: says a whiny Allen, “thought maybe I could jump on her, get her out of there with a rush. Obviously it didn’t work out that way,” Janet lumped up on the left side and looking well worn herself, can’t wipe the tired smile off her face, “I give myself a B+ for this performance--I just wish I could have got it going sooner. I’d like to train Krista at some point--I think she has more raw talent than Charlize had at this stage of her career and I really think all she needs is a firm hand. I was loving it to the body on her--I knew I had to take the legs away because she was really nailing me early with counters, but once we got close, it was no contest.”
