TESS VALMORE AKA LA TESSIERE, LA CALIENETE
HALE/ SOLO For the first five rounds it was all Solo, although she did little to no damage in the first three. In the sixth, a leaping hook staggered Solo and Hale proceeded to put her on the canvas not once but twice. Solo never recovered and Hale ended the fight in the eighth, as she pounded Solo helpless and the fight was stopped. It was the first win for Hale in ten tries . For Solo's effort we are sending her an “I lost to Hale” T-shirt
DOBREV/ FOX No other way to explain it, but Dobrev simply got manhandled by Fox Dobrev would win only one round, Fox floored Dobrev in the fifth. pounded her around the ring in the sixth and finished her off in the seventh with a body attack and a big overhand right. Fox, KO7
SEYFRIED/ BOWEN. What a difference a few seconds make. A couple more seconds on the clock and Bowen had first round KO. Alas, those seconds weren’t there and Seyfried was saved by the bell. She somehow managed to recover and take the next four rounds The last five rounds were spirited but Seyfried managed to take three of them to get the decision
AQUILERA/ LOVATO I must admit I wasn’t particularly interested in this fight, but I guess when you have two fighters with equal lack of fighting talent, they can put on a good show and they did. Aguilera had the lead through four, fouling in the second round. What good does it do to warn a fighter about a foul after the damage is done? The round should have been taken from her. Lovato came back to floor Aquilera in the fifth. The rest of the fight was close with Lovato taking the last two rounds to get the decision
ROBBIE/ KELTON Other than being brunette, i have no idea who Kelton is or why she is a celebrity. On the other hand, Robbie isn’t exactly A-list. It was, however, a very watchable fight. Robbie had a lead in the first half, but then Kelton reeled off four straight rounds. Robbie needed the tenth and she got if by decking Kelton. Five rounds apiece with the knockdown being the deciding factor. Robbie got the decision
PALICKI/ LAW I thought this would be one of the marquis fights of the night. It didn’t turn out that way. After Law won the first round, Palicki came back to take the second The third was a disaster for Law. She took a terrible beating, being decked twice and saved by the bell. It didn’t help. In the fourth Palicki poured on the punishment until Law was helpless and the fight was stopped. Looks like Jenny Mac’s influence is showing
CHABERT/ SONG This fight is a take on either Chabert’s stupidity or Song’s smarts. After taking a right and left to the bra, Chabert lost control and stormed after Song and right into an overhand right that put Chabert down for the count. It was the third first round KO of Song’s career
HUDGENS/ RICCI This was the first PPV of 2013 and although the fight only lasted six rounds, it could well be a contender for the fight of the year. Unfortunately by time the lists are drawn in December, it will probably be forgotten, Hudgens was down the first, in the second and again in the third. In the fourth, Ricci was down once and Hudgens twice. Ricci was down in the fifth and again in the sixth. She didn’t get up in the sixth and she was counted from a short right to the chin. Hudgens survived five knockdowns to get the win
TORV/ WAGNER After two tactical rounds, Wagner got going and put Torv on the canvas in the third. Torv managed to right the ship in the fourth. In the fifth, Torv set Wagner up with a couple rights to the chin and ended the fight with a terrific left to the body and leaving Wagner on the canvas hugging herself as the count went by, This was a big win for Torv
PEREGRYM/ COLE, Peregrym is a small lightweight. Cole has fought at welter. Cole is the harder hitter. The size and power difference means Cole will win, right?. Yes, that is exactly what it meant. Missy had her moments and was actually ahead on the cards at the end of four. In the fifth, a series of uppercuts and crosses left Missy on the canvas for the count, Cole ends a four fight losing streak
CUTHBERT/ MEESTER. I think I said that Meester was over rated. Well maybe not. Not based on this fight. She was in control the eight minutes this fight lasted. She dished out a bad body beating to Cuthbert in the second. She continued the body attack in the third until Cuthbert could take no more and went down for the ten count
VANDERVOORT/ SCHERZINGER. This fight might set a record for the number of letters in two fighters names. It, however, was an enjoyable fight. Vandervoort took the first four rounds. Scherzinger took the next three and also the ninth. She had a chance to pull this fight out in the final round. It was not to be. Vandervoort won the final round by a big margin and got the decision
RIGHETTI/ FREEMAN A fight between two top welters. It didn’t go ten, but I was surprised it went as long as it did. Freeman was way ahead on the cards at the end of eight. All she had to do was have a respectable final two rounds. Righetti did not let that happen. A sweeping right dropped Freeman in the ninth. Righetti then beat her senseless and the referee stopped the fight
ACCOLA/ BECKINSALE Beckinsale surprised us. We didn’t think she could hang with Accola. Beckinsale in no spring chicken. She dominated this fight going into the last two rounds. Accola took the ninth and then had Beckinsale out on her feet in the tenth, only to have Beckinsale saved by the bell, which gave Beckinsale the decision
BLOODGOOD/ THERON In the predictions I made a big deal about Theron’s much diminished KO rate. It appears you can forget that. This was the Charlize of ten years ago, using her legs, and coming up with the big punch. She feasted on Bloodgood’s body for a round and a half and ended the fight with a short right to the ear. I believe this fight guarantees Theron will finish the tournament with a 70% win ratio even if she loses the remaining eight fights. This result doesn’t change my opinion as to the ultimate results of the Crusade
PORTMAN/ WATSON This fight was competitive for six rounds as they alternated winning stanzas, including the fourth when Watson put Portman on the canvas twice. She failed to follow up as Portman won the next round, In the seventh Portman took over and gave Watson a very bad time over the last four rounds, Portman got the decision
STONE/ KUNIS Another entertaining hotly contested fight. Kunis had the lead after six but in the seven Stone blitzed Mila coming close to stopping her. When the fight got to the last round, Kunis had to win the round to have any chance of a decision, She did win the round, but also decked Stone. I think the knockdown gave Kunis the decision
LAWRENCE/ C. Z. JONES The 23 year old heir apparent to Theron took on a woman who is 20 years older and had only three fights in the last three years. This should have been a cakewalk for Lawrence. She was ahead going into the fifth. In that round, Jones brazenly fouled Lawrence multiple times. in spite of the fouls, Lawrence recovered to have the lead going into the final round, Surprisingly Jones rallied to win the last round. I really didn’t think Jones would last that many rounds. The fight was declared one of those hated draws and Jones left the ring. I wonder if the Academy prepared Lawrence for Jones’ fouls. Jones is second only to GNL as a dirty fighter. Charlize has long experience with Jones as does Miss Ginny
CARTER/ K. BELL A fight for the flyweight title. As in a lot of fights tonight, this bout was all even at the end of four. You can say that was Bell’s high water mark as Carter took over from there. She took the next four rounds. In the ninth Carter went on a vicious body attack hitting Bell’s back, hip and kidneys. It was a terrible beating that finished Bell as she went down and couldn’t come close the beating the count. I would have to say now that Carter is the dominate flyweight
DUSHKU/ VANCAMP. The upset of the night, but not well earned by the winner. I see where Vancamp’s management is gushing over her victory. They didn’t see the same fight i saw. They somehow missed what every one else saw, the two devastating elbows, one in the first and one in the third round. Without those two fouls, this might have been different fight. They delighted in Vancamp’s post fight antics. I got news got management. Dushku is not a sure shot Hall of Fame member. She is a Hall of Fame member. Vancamp just painted a target on her back and will rue the day she tummied up on Dushku, You don’t do that to a Hall of Fame member and if you do, be prepared to pay the consequences
CUCUO/ STRAHVOSKI This is hilarious. In pre-fight, Strahovski referred to Cucuo as a Winstead level blonde. Remind me now, Just what is Strahovski’s record against Winstead? After Cucuo took the first, Strahovski came back to take the second and third. Early in the fourth, Cucuo unleashed a leaping hook that landed on Strahovski’s chin and the fight was over. I don’t think there is a fighter who could have survived that punch. Kind of a Winstead like ending. I got news for all the gushing managers. THERE IS NO GREAT BLONDE AT PRESENT, AND CERTAINLY NOT STRAHOVSKI No current blonde lightweight has done enough to justify that title, but if anyone is close to it it’s probably Cucuo |
