The first bout of the bantamweight title card in Cannes features couple of former champions whose recent results couldn't have been any different. Imogen Thomas knocked out Charlotte Church to claim the Welsh bantam crown last December and brings an impressive 8-2 record to the table while Una Healy still recovers from giving birth to a baby daughter and lost both of her fights since the comeback. But the redhead singer promises 2013 will be a new chapter in her career and reflect her past success she enjoyed back in 2010 and 2011.

Round 1:
Thomas' quick to pounce on her rival, closes the distance and pours in with shots to the tummy but Una slices her across the mouth with a left hook and snaps her head back with a jabbing follow-up. She leans on Imogen and gives her more blows on the body forcing her back briefly but the Welsh brunette dekes to the side, avoids another hooking attempt and whacks Healy on the ribs, uppercuts her breasts and follows up herself with a left hook on the temple and now it's Una's turn to have her head snapped around as Thomas finds another punch on the mouth and pushes the singer back to the ropes. Una tries to weave away from close range; gets spiked with an overhand on the mouth again and sags on the ropes for good as Imogen piles in with a series of gutwrenching jabs and forces Healy to cover up and unable to clinch when she gets nailed on the navel just before the bell and winces in pain with a raging brunette getting pulled back by the referee.

Round 2:
Imogen with more aggression, beats Una's speed across the canvas again and whacks her on the tummy, flicks an uppercut to the jaw and the redhead stumbles to the side, unable to cope with the brunette's precise execution. Imogen whips another overhand left on the eye and Una covers up and tries to clinch in the middle of the ring but gets spiked around the elbows and leans forward moaning in pain. Right hook on the temple spins her to the side and Thomas pours in with a series on the stomach, splits the arms and bounces off the rack, catches Una with a left hook on the temple and the redhead loses her footing, drops her arms in order to regain balance but eats a big right on the nose moments later and CRASHES DOWN ON HER BACKSIDE as Imogen punches the air in delight. Una shocked by the knockdown, beats the count at five, almost too quick to get some composure back as Thomas rains punches against her chest straight after the command, ducks under Healy's single hand response and pummels the rack with visible joy as Una groans in pain and gets pushed back to the ropes. She looks for a clinch again, gets nailed on the ribcage repeatedly and Imogen truly wants to make a mush out of her midsection as Una slowly sinks on her knees and allows the brunette to hammer her tummy and the moaning is almost too painful even to hear let alone endure in the ring. Thomas like a raging bull, keeps punishing her foe's stomach and leaves her gasping for air at the bell.

Round 3:
Una's visibly affected by that ribcage pounding but can't shrug her nemesis off as Imogen fakes more low jabs, switches high and reaches the redhead's face before she can raise her arms. Left/right combo catch Healy on the nose and she stumbled back as a huge left ovwerhand shatters the guard and nails Una on the mouth as the singer wobbles on her feet and allows the brunette to bury another uppercut on the chest, left hook on the temple follows and Una spins back to the ropes, tries to cover up but Thomas with a right hand on the mouth, makes a mess of the singer's guard and Healy's lips are savaged by that hit as Una blinks in a state of shock and eats another left on the cheek, right on the navel and SHE'S DOWN ON HER SIDE IN THE CORNER.... Imogen dropped her to the canvas like a training dummy and now it's getting really bad for Una as she scrambles to all fours on five, launches herself upright at eight and wobbles back against the corner post looking anything but comfortable. Ref gives her some time to recover asking repeatedly whether she's OK before Healy nods him back but Thomas is right up to her moments later, keeps her pinned to the post with a series of shots on the face and Una's guard takes a pummelling here with the singer just hoping to somehow survive this round but after Imogen buries a gutwrencher in her tummy it all falls apart with Thomas slicing a cross-hooks on the mouth, making the redhead bleed from the lips and a left hook on the temple drops Una's head on her shoulders and there comes the towel from Double A Boxing corner as Healy was on the verge of absolute destruction... TKO R3 Imogen Thomas!!!

Post-fight:
Tremendous performance from the reigning Welsh bantam champion who had no trouble with dispatching Una Healy. In fact, Imogen didn't just dispatch Una, she truly pounded her silly and would have certainly knocked her out in a very brutal fashion if the towel hadn't been thrown by the singer's entourage.

Thomas continues to ride her hot streak while Healy's road to recovery seems to be a long and very painful one. She doesn't look to be ready to take someone of Imogen's strenght just yet and might be forced to rebuild her career from the stratch after that pregnancy pause. But several BBU pundits and fans gathered in the Cannes believe she will eventually return to the division's elite and subsequently avenge this tough loss to a hatred Welsh opponent.
