Before: “She knew she couldn’t hang with me at lightweight,” Odette confidently proclaims in pre-fight. “So I had to come down to her level. It’s going to make things so much more fun when I beat her silly and leave her with no excuses!”

“Size is going to be an issue with anybody I fight,” super-bantamweight Emmanuelle agrees. “Let’s face it, I may be better fighting uphill than I am in any other kind of matchup.”

R1: Odette pinpointing the long jab, setting up searing rights and finishing with hooks, she rakes Vaugier over with long armed strafing runs through the first two minutes. Not for the faint of heart; Vaugier beaten without mercy, tattooed again and again. She shows her bravery and strong legs by absorbing a 10-8 shellacking without a knockdown.

R2: Odette knows she's got Vaugier hurt, content to work behind the jab. Pretty heartless, long-distance stick-and-step from Odette. Emmanuelle letting her guard absorb the brunt of the punishment, keeping her eyes open for an opening that doesn’t come.

R3: Emmanuelle finally able to get past that long-armed jab of Odette’s, slipping inside with countering hook to the body, then setting up house around her elbows. Whipping short punches tattooing Yustman’s chin and ribs as she desperately backpedals, trying to set up on the outside again. Gadfly tactics are taking their toll on Odette, she’s noticeably wobbly butt. Giving up on trying to shake Em, she plants her feet and throws an all-or-nothing sidearm right, Vaugier pivots out of the way, then swings back and steps into a countering left hook THAT FOLDS YUSTMAN IN HALF! Odette jackknifes, drops to her knees, butt in the air, cheek on the canvas as she sobs her way through the count. Emmanuelle Vaugier records the KO3 with the timing punch of the year, one-upping perennial rival Holly Valance’s signature punch against Anna Torv in Australia back in August.

After: “Her jab’s a thing of beauty,” Emmanuelle concedes afterwards. “But once you get past it, she just doesn’t know what to do with you.” Vaugier coming out once again and showing herself to be one of the best counter-punching knife-fighters out there as she demolishes another bigger opponent early. Foray into bantam territory a disaster for Odette, taking losses to two mid-level fighters she could have easily bested at 130.
