BEFORE:

SEPTEMBER 23, 2012:

O'Dell: "Gemma very controlled. Not forcing anything. Taking what Lima gives her. Setting up her punches..."

McCarthy: "And that's what Lima ISN'T doing. She's just swinging away..."

O'Dell: "AND SHE LANDS A HAYMAKER! DOWN GOES GEMMA! A RIGHT HAND THAT CAME FROM TRENTON SENDS ARTERTON TO THE CANVAS!"

McCarthy: "I'm not sure who's more surprised, Gemma or Adriana!"

O'Dell: "Lima to a neutral corner. Referee's count at four. Five. Gemma up to her hands and knees at six. Seven. Eight...she's up at nine and...THE REFEREE WAIVES IT OFF! ARTERTON BARELY ABLE TO KEEP HER FEET AND HE'S STOPPING IT! THE WINNER BY TKO2 IS ADRIANA LIMA!"

"Lucky punch," says Gemma shaking her head. "You know, I keep HEARING that. But, she wasn't just lucky in those Ice Hotel fights. She's good. She beat me and she wasn't just lucky. And it might have cost me a title shot. And tonight, I get another chance at her. And, this time, I WILL make NO mistake."

"Gemma is all class," says Adriana with a devastating smile. "She takes nothing away from what happened last time and admits I deserved to beat her. But, I'm not sure she really believes it, really believes I'm better. Well, after tonight, she shall."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "A hotter match up you are not likely to find, and that's 'London Calling' by The Clash you hear, and here comes 'The Gravesend Gladiator', Gemma Arterton!"

Tess: "Gemma, of course, a legitimate film star, currently on the big screen beating up witches..."

McCarthy: "I'll be MORE impressed if she can beat up Lima, and I'm not convinced she can..."

O'Dell: "Gemma into the ring. Helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve and she's back to that violet number she likes..."

McCarthy: "Now THAT music is CREEPY..."

Tess: "One of the creepiest songs of all time, I think. It's called 'Tubular Bells' by Mike Oldfield, and it was, of course, the theme song to 'The Exorcist'."

McCarthy: "Was that the movie where Linda Lovelace vomited pea soup?"

Tess: "Linda..."

O'Dell: "Tess, I think we need to stop right here, because there is no WAY this can end without us being yanked off the air..."

Tess: "Good point."

O'Dell: "And, of course, the lady coming to the ring to 'Tubular Bells' is the gorgeous Queen Of The Ice Hotel, Odds & Ends' Adrianna Lima! Lima into the ring, helped off with the robe to reveal a deep blue number that has the crowd BUZZING. Ladies getting ready to go, and, since Tess is on record as favoring Gemma, I'll ask Mac what SHE thinks..."

McCarthy: "I keep returning to this theme. Lima beat Arterton once. She can do it again. I'm going with Adrianna!"

O'Dell: "And we're going to find out who's right. There's the bell! Gemma, as usual, working behind her big left hand..."

Tess: "The Front Street Jab..."

McCarthy: "It. Is. A. Jab. Wal. Mart! Just a JAB. Every fighter has one! LIMA has one! She just landed it!"

O'Dell: "She did, indeed. And this is a much more disciplined Adriana than we saw last time..."

McCarthy: "Good strategy, because that purposeful wildness she showed last time wasn't going to work again."

O'Dell: "And the current strategy isn't working right now. Gemma's quickly establishing control, working forward behind that left, forcing Lima backward...AND ROCKING HER WITH A RIGHT HAND! ADRIANA'S KNEES DID A SHIMMY AND SHE'S COVERING UP AS GEMMA GOES TO WORK!"

McCarthy: "Arterton would LOVE to end this one quickly..."

O'Dell: "And that's exactly what she's working to do! Adriana in full retreat, circling backward to stay off the ropes, keeping the guard high, tying up when she can. Gemma landing solid leather..."

Tess: "Gemma not getting sloppy, though. Not pressing. Good, solid combinations. Looking for the finisher but not forcing anything."

O'Dell: "Adriana just looking to last the round, and that's precisely what she's done. Bell ends the first and a good start for 'The Gravesend Gladiator'."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Round two begins and Gemma right back to work, STICKING that big left hand into Adriana's face. Lima looking to counter now...AND DOWN SHE GOES! RIGHT HAND FROM GEMMA SENDS LIMA TO HER KNEES!"

McCarthy: "Counter off the counter..."

O'Dell: "Referee's count to four. Five. Lima's going to beat it. She's up at six. Will take the count...and the referee will let it continue. Arterton back to work, backing Adriana up, hooking body off the jab now. Lima not sure of the legs, becoming a stationary target. She's covering up, picking off some punches, but she's taking a thumping."

Tess: "Sure is. Gemma's laying in the hurt right now..."

O'Dell: "AND DOWN GOES LIMA AGAIN! RIGHT HOOK SPILLS HER TO HER LEFT SIDE!"

McCarthy: "This one may be over..."

O'Dell: "Doesn't look like it, Mac! Lima getting to her feet at seven. She takes the count and the referee is going to allow it to continue. Gemma now climbing on board in a big way, hammering away at Adriana! Arterton backs her into the ropes, going hooks to the body now, working her way back upstairs. Adriana again looking to survive, and, once again, she's done it. There's the bell, and Lima's still standing, but a HUGE round for Gemma!"

McCarthy: "10-7 on my card."

Tess: "Which means Gemma's off to a big lead, 20-16 through two!"

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Third round begins with Lima getting the left going. Adrana using that long reach to good effect now. Scoring with the jab, making Gemma work to get into position to punch."

McCarthy: "Lima's length is sometimes hard to deal with."

O'Dell: "Arterton's going to do it the old fashioned way! Walking through the left and BANGING away! Hooking downstairs, then back up top. Solid combination AND A LEFT HOOK WOBBLES LIMA AGAIN! And Gemma right back to work as Adriana covers up, thumping body, reducing her rival systematically..."

McCarthy: "A lot of girls would have come out here looking to blow the doors off the girl who upset them, but, give Gemma credit. She's going about this clinically..."

O'Dell: "Very intelligent work, no question..."

Tess: "Wiz DOES like smart girls..."

McCarthy: "Too bad no one with any sense would SIGN with Weirdo..."

Tess: "Gemma went to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. You don't get in there unless you've got more than a fake rack and bleached blonde hair..."

O'Dell: "Gemma backing Adriana up again, laying in some heavy fire upstairs. Adriana trying to fire back, but Gemma just walking through her punches and BANGING away...

McCarthy: "Lima's got to do something to keep Arterton off."

O'Dell: "And they'll likely be talking about that in the corner between rounds. That's the bell, and through three, Gemma in command."

Tess: "30-25. That lead's getting pretty comfortable."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Fourth round begins with Gemma looking to pad the lead even more. She's got the left hand high, the right at her ear, working past Adriana's jab now, rather than through it, hooking to the body, punishing the ribs. Lima crouching a bit now in response...AND THERE'S A RIGHT HOOK, ARTERTON AND ADRIANA STUMBLES AND NEARLY GOES DOWN! Gemma quickly all over her, driving Lima into the ropes..."

McCarthy: "Gemma looking for the finishing touches now..."

O'Dell: "Lathering those lats now, then back upstairs...AND LIMA FIRES BACK A HEAVY SALVO! THE TWO GIRLS TOE TO TOE AND SLUGGING NOW!"

McCarthy: "THAT'S the Lima who's taken that Ice Hotel title TWICE! There's no quit in HER!"

O'Dell: "There certainly is not! Adriana slugging off the ropes and back to the center. A furious rally by the lovely Lima ends Gemma's efforts to finish..."

Tess: "And look at Arterton changing gears! Slowing the pace now, circling and matching footwork. Got both hands up. Pumping the jab to slow Lima down, then looking for spots for the right."

O'Dell: "Lima again looking to counter. She's able to land some doing that, but Gemma's slowly taken control back, and she's putting punches together to the bell, sealing her fourth victory in as many rounds."

Tess: "40-34 now. Lima's in a pretty big hole."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "Into the fifth round and Lima landing a nice flurry early. Putting that length and long left to good use now. Gemma working from the outside, popping her own left, having to work hard to get into good position. Not nearly as active as she's been to this point."

Tess: "Arterton taking a round off, Mac?"

McCarthy: "I don't think so, Walmart. This is the result of Adriana punching for respect last round. Gemma not walking through her anymore, and it's forced a change of tactics that's working to Adriana's benefit."

O'Dell: "Lima scoring well with the jab. Able to put punches together in spots. Gemma having some success as well, but these are Adriana's terms, and she's taking full advantage."

McCarthy: "And this is pretty impressive stuff from Lima. Considering all the punishment she took in the first four, to be able to rally like this tells you something about how strong she is both physically and mentally."

O'Dell: "Lima sticking that left, making Arterton move the feet. Gemma a little short on a lot of stuff right now. And there's the bell ending the fifth, and Lima's on the board, ladies."

Tess: "Still a big mountain to climb, down 49-44. But that was good stuff from Adriana."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "Sixth round underway and Lima back to that left hand. Preempting Gemma with it and now having more success following up with rights."

McCarthy: "This is the boxer/puncher who's so dangerous, Jenny. Using that reach and left hand to set up right handed power from long range. Gemma's dealt with that pretty well tonight. She's had experience with length with girls like Kurylenko, but, when Adriana gets going in rhythm like this, it's pretty to watch."

O'Dell: "And, as you said, Mac, hard to deal with. Arterton spending a lot of time ducking, dodging, trying to pick off punches. Not able to do much offensively..."

McCarthy: "This is what Lima can do to you and, while you're working to get to a spot, she'll drop that right..."

O'Dell: "RIGHT HAND, GEMMA! Arterton slipped the left and hurt Adriana with the right hook! And Gemma's all in, battering Lima back into the ropes and going to work with that heavy leather..."

McCarthy: "Adriana again just covering up and hanging on."

O'Dell: "And Gemma looking for the finisher once again. All upstairs now, no longer bothering with the body, slamming shots off Lima's gloves, splitting them with a right hand at the bell! And Arterton comes on late to steal the sixth!"

Tess: "59-53 now. That hill's getting bigger for Adriana..."

ROUND SEVEN:

O'Dell: "Seventh round begins and Gemma's right after Adriana landing a double-tap jab...AND DOWN GOES LIMA!"

McCarthy: "Straight right hand. Lima's taken a ton of punishment, and it's showing..."

O'Dell: "Referee's count at four, five, six, seven. Lima again to her feet. Takes the mandatory. On comes Gemma, banging away, driving Lima before her into the ropes and going to work with all guns blazing. Lima covering up, just taking along the ropes. Gemma buffeting her back and forth with heavy shot against Adriana's gloves...sends her stumbling with a good left hook...AND IT'S OVER! REFEREE HAS SEEN ENOUGH! HE JUMPS IN BETWEEN THE FIGHTERS AND WAIVES IT OFF! YOUR WINNER BY TKO7 IS 'THE GRAVESEND GLADIATOR', GEMMA ARTERTON."

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "Gemma, that was a pretty awesome performance tonight..."

Gemma: "Thanks, Tess. She can box, she's got range, and she has power, so she can be tough to handle. You've got to bring your 'A' game when you fight her. And I brought it tonight. And, when I do that, there's not a lightweight in the world I can't beat. Not one."
