BEFORE: Kelly entering as underdog at most books...where's the respect? "I'm used to it," JK says with a shrug and a smile. "For whatever reason, Syfy girls coming out of comic-con fighting circuits just don't generate the same hype - we're kind of dismissed the way Beach or Club fighters are. I just do what I do, you know? I don't worry about who's favoured or more popular - that's for fans and you guys to mull over. In my case, I think 'underdog' means 'under-rated'. You'll see once I'm in with Ruah."

Daniela upbeat - very down to earth with press despite statuesque bearing...she's got more respect for Kelly than the sports books: "Joanne's jinxed us before," Ruah smiles ruefully in acknowledgment, "so we're not taking anything for granted. She reminds me a lot of Jeri Ryan back in the day - just solid and sort of under appreciated by the boxing public, but really respected by the fighters. I know I'm in tough here: Joanne's a hard-nosed girl and I don't want to contribute to her giant-killing rep, you know?"

Daniela in bright yellow sports-halter with deep-scoop front; lime green boy-leg snug-fitting velour gym-shorts; pale blue mitts; hair in curly pony. Joanne in red/black tartan plaid bra and sensible-cut trunks; black gloves; curly hair smoothed back into low battle-bun.

During R1: Ruah with right near cheek/left loose across the gut, flashing the up-jab as she steps into positions in slight crouch. Kelly dukes up/elbows in - jab-jabbing to Ruah's healthy jugs while quick-pivoting clockwise. Ruah e-z stepping to her right to cut off the ring - loping, leggy gait easily keeping pace with Kelly. Darting jabs off the hip forcing JK into bobbing earmuff; swinging right hand loud to left flank gets the party started; quick-licking left uppercuts snatch at Kelly-jug, then Kelly-belly; looping right over the top clobbers left ear: Joanne's stepping in fence-post holes early. Ruah hopping-to in her stance, face set in finisher's stone: she tracks Joanne via the darting up-jab; straps her righty to flank; looks to clean up left hooks/uppercuts from there. Kelly wilting/grimacing, feeling the lithe leverage of Ruah as Daniela gets sinewy back and limbs into strokes...all rangy Ruah bell to bell as Kelly's picked apart for points through 1.

R2: Girls jab each other midring - Kelly leaning over to her right while poking off the back (right) plant leg...she bats a weird-looking high hook from this posture, catching Ruah on the chin while Daniela's throwing a left uppercut...DOWN GOES RUAH! Looked slappy on delivery, but Daniela's hurt...long legs trembling as she takes a blinking 8 at ropes. Kelly on the hunt, walking Ruah down along perimeter: Joanne all shoulders hunched, chin tucked, dukes curled into her chin as she stalks leggy prey. Systematic attacks from Kelly drive Ruah into ropes - Joanne stepping in to bang that waist thick, batting rights and lefts; push off via the left shoulder/elbow, then; hook those jugs. Ruah battered in spots, but able to squirt off to her right and slide the ropes to freedom...Kelly maintaining top position in patient pursuit. Down the stretch, Ruah's got her legs back - leads to a healthy two-way clambake late with Daniela slinging rangy rights and lefts off the apron: Kelly trying to slip the wallop and work the waistline. Bell: both girls lashing away, bringing the ref in hot for warnings all around.

R3: Kelly stalking, but Ruah shows dancer's legs - loping to her left, being tall, flicking out that sinuous up-jab off the hip, keeping Kelly at bay. Joanne bobbing low, trying to weave her way in, but Ruah not having it - jabbing very effectively; changing directions to roam counter-clockwise at times, shaking pursuit. Daniela bending into slinging overhand rights - well defended by bobbing Kelly who slips the heat...Ruah changing tactics midway through, slinging sidearm rights wide to body; bending knees/arching back/popping hips-right to snap wicked Tommy Hearns hooks off Joanne's ribs/midsection as Kelly cringes behind her mitts. Rangy shutout Daniela Ruah...she's grinning dimply en-route to corner, outclassing Joanne through 3.

R4: Ruah with another good minute of boxing outside behind the jab, but Kelly eventually weaves in close, gets to the waistline via rugged right/left and soon chases Daniela to ropes. Grim siege of Ruah develops: Kelly bobbing on the spot, using head/shoulders/elbows to bump and jostle; thumping consistent right/lefts off Daniela's wasp waist; banging short hooks off ribs and tits. Ruah grimacing, feeling Kelly's weight of shot: Daniela laying back into ropes with rangy right uppercuts; laying in shoulder to shoulder, looking to bump Jo off, then strap licking hooks to waist or jaw. Kelly iron-willed here, never backing off, absorbing the odd lashing wallop in exchange for constant pressure on the Ruah torso. Daniela visibly wilting down the stretch - mouth open, eyes frowning...Kelly in there rough, fighting off Ruah's chest, scrounging away for bitter points through 4.

R5: Kelly bobbing like she wants to get back into Ruah's waistline, but overhand right crashes upside head instead...Daniela cudgeled off line, stepping in fence post holes all glassy eyes/parted lips midring. Daniela reeling...Joanne sets in her crouch, then erupts, leaping a hook into Daniela's chin, swiveling Ruah's head and sending her staggering ropeside! Daniela staring woozily, legs locking up at ropes...she's pushing hands out to ward Kelly off but JOANNE WON'T HAVE IT! Crashing right crudely upside the head; bashing left across chin - Joanne's brawny, swinging blows punching Daniela's extended arms out of the way while fists carom off lovely face. Ruah sagging back into cables, head lolling: ANOTHER right crashes home, swiveling noggin; left takes Ruah across the jugs as she's slopping forward and DANIELA GOES DOWN! Dani R on her face, hands trapped beneath her body...it's over! KO in upset fashion, Joanne the Giant Killer Kelly!

After: She does it again - unassuming Kelly workmanlike in dismantling the highly touted, exquisitely put together Daniela Ruah in 5 bruising heats. "I'm pumped," a grinning Kelly admits in postfight. "This was a big one for me. Daniela's so rangy and lean - I knew I didn't want to get into a boxing match with her. Went right at her body you know? She's slim hipped and narrow through the waist...I just didn't think she'd enjoy me digging at her down there, and I was right! You know, does this put me any closer to Torv? Who knows? If she's afraid, she's afraid, there's not much I can do about that. If not her, I know it's putting me closer to Nichols, because I'm crowding her space now and something's gotta give. But really, I'm just a fighter - I'll go with anyone. Long as the bodies keep coming, I'm happy!"
