BEFORE: "Beckinsale could've turned Danes back at the gates," Aly pontificates in prefight, "instead she lit a fire under Claire that I guess I'm going to have to put out. All good things must come to an end. What goes up, must come down. Claire Danes - in all her illustrious, hall-of-fame career - has never been in with as much woman as she's taking on in this fight. Talkin' about beef here, boys; talkin' about heat; talkin' about skillz...Claire's just overmatched, and she's about to get what she's been needing for months now: a good old fashioned welcome-to-bantamweight ass-kicking!"

Claire unimpressed, unintimidated: pretty clear the "reconnaissance in strength" has turned into an actual campaign of conquest at bantam. "Guess my intentions are pretty clear now, hey?" During R1: Claire in closed stance, stooping slightly, double-dabbing her jab to Aly's body; ducking the receipt while swivel-pivoting underneath in clockwise direction; double-dabbing jab to jugs; ducking a hook; scootching close to get left shoulder into Aly's body, then sidestepping-right to turn blonde-girl counter-clockwise midring. Claire in and out, changing levels, collecting touches, but midway through, Aly gets HER jab cooking to problematize things. Claire poked into earmuff, bobbing on the spot: Aly steps in close, hooks right flank with a crooked-elbow delivery - just jamming in all flat-knuckle and rangy. Doubling up the shot buckles Claire's curvy legs: blonde clinches blonde for ref's break as Danes shows hurt. Aly on the attack via rising, rangy up-jab from hip...she's stepping Claire back; pre-occupying Danes' peek-a-boo guard up top, then; strapping Claire a thick, sidearm-slinging right across the waist that has Danes cringing. Claire hurt to the body, retreats into ropes...Aly steps-to to finish, but misses a series of lashing lefts and rights as Danes bobs/dips/rolls/blocks in the pocket, evading punishment, then spinning off the ropes as Michalka misses on a swinging right over the top. Claire recovering well - luring Aly back to midring, feinting her; stab-jabbing the body; tying up. Danes able to contain the outbreak, losing the round to Michalka's powershots, but preventing Aly from consolidating her gains.

R2: Pesky Claire taking the initiative - double-dabbing that jab out of a bobbing crouch; bobbing to slip receipts while pivoting under them - usually in clockwise rotation. Head-feints from Claire; hooks off the jab; hesitation lead rights off the feints; level changes; cutie-pie shoulder bump-and-pivot routines...Danes going into her trick bag to keep Aly guessing. Michalka wearing a frown of concentration - unhurt by Claire's tap-and-go ministrations, but frustrated none-the-less...Aly getting pre-empted, being made to miss, getting bamboozled in the kind of midring turning battle she usually dominates.

R3: Aly re-committing to the jab - flicking it out there from her hip, tracking Claire while taking little half-steps back from her...Michalka trying to construct Claire as a shorter pressure fighter who must get inside to be productive. Michalka walking to her right outside, scowling sexy over her left shoulder; putting the jab on Claire, then trying to fetch her righty-on-the-chin. Danes slipping the power, so Aly adjusts, slinging sidearm rights to flank and waist instead...to devastating effect! Claire grimacing in middle minute, cringing at the thick, strapping weight of Aly's shot...Michalka able to get Big off the work - palming Claire's shoulders and pushing her off/walking her down old-school. Off the slinging rights to body, Aly works digging lefts - really getting in behind Claire's right elbow and jamming those ribs. All too much for Claire...face stricken, buttocks shivering, she takes a knee to relieve pressure, coughing up the 10-8 in order to regroup. Regroup she does: Aly's attempts to finish in final minute completely foiled by Claire's swivel-pivoting, bob-and-jab/duck-and-clinch tactics to bell.

R4: Claire turns puncher early, stepping into a hard, short right to jaw in a bid to get respect...Aly legging away, temporarily conceding initiative to "slugging" Claire Danes. Claire's pressure dies out on the end of Aly's flicking up-jab...Michalka hopping counter-clockwise, outpacing the pursuit, gradually bringing Claire to heel midring. Michalka gradually over to offence as her jab occupies Claire...slinging sidearm rights flank/waist sounding out loud on Claire's toned body, putting a pained wince on expressive features. Aly building on those right hands - stepping-to with the left palm shoving Claire's right shoulder; left hooks digging in deep behind right elbow; limber jabs keeping Claire from jumping into counters. Danes battered about the ring...she's protecting her head well with bobbing torso-action, but the body...Claire's supple chassis taking a vicious thrashing from a pitiless, rangy Michalka. CLAIRE TAKES A KNEE! Open-mouthed, sobbing for breath, Danes steps back in retreat and goes to her right knee, once again yielding big points for the chance to recover.

R5: Hit parade continues - Claire visibly slowed/hampered by Aly's diligent body strapping: Michalka stepping-to all Big-Girl Blonde and looking to do harm. Michalka lashing both sides of the plate - vicious sidearm slinging licks complemented by shorter crook-arm hooks that wedge in behind Claire's right elbow like missing pieces of a cruel puzzle. Danes ashen-faced, feeling Aly: Claire in slow, spiraling retreat - pivoting away and around to keep her back clear of ropes. To her arsenal, Aly adds a short left uppercut off her front (left) plant-leg - scoring to Claire's head/getting Danes out of her crouch. Strapping, lanky-limbed pursuit boxing - Aly just walking Claire down/working her over...Danes shows real bantamweight steel in absorbing thick punishment while evading any punch that could conceivably end her night. Bell: Claire hollow-eyed, catching a hard beating through 5; Aly all grins and dimples - giving a happy little shoulder-shimmy en route to her corner.

R6: Claire shows Emmy-winning acting skill early - giving a "I'm crippled" face to bait Aly forward - Claire issuing cheeky check-jabs as she slides back; timing Aly for swift right crosses to chin. Pivoting counter-clockwise at ropes - Claire aids her evasion by ducking in close to get left shoulder into Aly's body, crowding while turning, then escaping to midring. Michalka impatient to close and bang: Claire stoops; jabs the belly; bobs to slip receipts; hops up onto her toes to bat hooks across Aly's chops, spilling Michalka to her left. Aly not hurt, but visibly surprised by the outburst...Claire attacks the pocket, flurrying rights and lefts to gut, getting Aly to fold up butt-in-ropes, then CLAIRE'S BOUNCING MITTS OFF NOGGIN! Danes with short, ripping right/left uppercuts, beating Aly about her head-and-shoulders as Michalka's stooping forward...ringing touches back Aly upright in stupor at ropes, whereupon Claire goes back downstairs like a champ! Hup-hup-hup - Claire touches up the gut via quick, snapping left/rights; comes up-torso via pumping right uppercuts to jug; finishing hooks-on-chin! Aly getting buzzsawed at ropes - big girl taking it well, but Claire on a bit of a jail-break, shows she's got plenty left through 6.

R7: Hot-tossing two-way action as Aly tries to regain initiative; Claire fighting desperately to keep Michalka off-balance. Aly pinging her jabs; slinging sidearm rights to midsection, or bolo-right uppercuts to Claire's left-side lats. Danes relying on combinations to answer Aly's weight of shot - lighting Michalka up tummy and tits - always looking to snap-off brisk left/right uppercut combos when Michalka leans forward. All even until final minute when Claire's adroit counter punching stalls Michalka's momentum...Danes taking little half-steps back in her stance, ducking Aly's approach-shots; walking her into short left uppercuts to chin, then tagging her righty to jaw...Michalka sputtering around, forced to adjust as Claire sidesteps, then baits the next trap. BELL: FURIOUS competitive glare from Claire Danes...Aly blinking in confusion, realizing that she might not have the fight sewn up after all.

R8: HAMMER AND TONGS! Aly bending her back into chopping rights to head; reefing follow-on hooks to body...her healthiest strokes batter Claire to ropes and have her shouting in pain early. Oh the beatdown...Danes ragdolling against ropes as Aly's popping hips-right, arching her back and CRANKING fight-ending hooks up into Claire's ribcage, then looking to clean up with drifting rights ticketed for chin. Danes in desperate trouble, absorbing thrashing punishment, then tying up for ref's breaks...Aly pancaking Claire to ropes during clinches, making older woman take weight. Michalka blasting away through first minute; second minute - well-timed overhand Claire right smashes Aly's face as Michalka's storming in...MICHALKA GOES DOWN! Aly crashing to her back, face in stunned shock...woozy Claire glaring down on the strut-past all "bytch must pay". Ali beats the count ragged...she forms wilting earmuff, butt-in-ropes as HERE COMES CLAIRE! Danes turns pressure-fighter - jamming head into Aly's mitts; snap-snatching mitts hot off tight blonde waist line; jerking close, vicious uppercuts from either hand, kissing punches off Aly's drowsy, overhanging face. Body, tits, head; body, tits, head...Claire just atop Aly, processing a Big-Girl; writhing free of clinches; staying busy. Bell: Claire slams home an extra insurance right to Aly's waistline, bunching her forward "Uhhhh..." ref pulls seething Claire away by her shoulders, wags a finger of warning in her angry face.

R9: Aly's resilient body took what Claire had to give in the 8th...Danes a little arm-weary, going mobile again, using legs to buy time. Michalka reduced, but resolute: she's on the stalk again, walking Claire down; touching her the up-jab, then leaning into short, chopping rights that move Danes out of set positions. Grim, trudging advance for Aly...Claire slipping-and-pivoting, but offering back onto flashy shoe-shines or timing-counters, opting to tie up for ref's breaks than engage in more of that ferocious toe-to-toe. Aly the clear aggressor - still unable to find an off-switch, but wisely banging the body when the head's unavailable.

R10: Claire trying to do her duck-in-and-push with her shoulder in Aly's body: Michalka reads it, pivots-with and nips a nifty right uppercut counter to chin off her back (right) plant leg, picking Claire up smartly. Slapping left hook lands with heft upside Claire's head, shifting her to her left...she's hurt, staring, disorganized for the first time tonight. Danes backing away in a fog...Aly lopes after - stooping to flutter jabs at Claire's belly, bringing her hands down, then lunging to paste a driving right to Claire's chin! CONTACT! Head-swivel Claire Danes...curvy legs hold her up as she backpedals into ropes, narrowly avoiding knockdown, but she's damaged goods, forming face-in-gloves as HERE COMES ALY! Michalka slugging on fumes, but baring teeth, squaring away regardless...nothing fancy as she just lashes the waistline both hands rangy; pushes Claire in her shoulders to reset; scrapes uppercuts along Claire's raised defences, then digs back into that pain-wracked midsection! Terrific thumping meted out Aly to Claire...Michalka battering a hall of famer via rangy slug-and-shove; Danes sponging it up, proving bantam-durable under true adversity. Bell: Aly lost in Claire hate, still lathering away...ref pulls Michalka off and this goes to cards. UD10 Aly Michalka.

After: Michalka shouting: "YES!" in triumph as her hand is raised...Claire stone-faced, staring off into the middle distance...smaller woman gives a young phenom all she could handle tonight as Aly demonstrates - finally - that bantamweights CAN push back against Claire. "I wasn't surprised by her skills," Scuffed-up Aly says in postfight. "I've got Olivia Wilde in camp - she's the only woman in boxing who can mimic Claire's style, so I was well prepped in that regard. What other banties need to start realizing is that what's special about Claire isn't her techniques, it's her heart, her will, her compete. THAT'S what surprised me about Claire Danes. I put a body-strappin' on that girl that would've ended Olivia Munn inside of 5 heats: Danes sponged it up and found ways to go over to offence when she should've been on a gurney somewhere. She referenced Munn in her analysis of my game, and I think Claire Danes would be POISON for Munn, what with the big swings Olivia takes - Claire would be all over those openings. And not only would MY punches have finished Munn - I'm pretty sure Claire's would have too! Danes isn't a big hitter at bantam, but she'll hurt you, she'll put you down...girls who think Claire can't get work done offensively need to sharpen their pencils. I've shown everybody the way; I've stopped Claire's advance...now it's up to the rest of the division to roll her back. Aside from me though, I just don't know if a Lilly, a Munn, a Beckinsale, or Perabo - girls like that...I just don't know if they've got the toolbox to fix this problem, you know?"
