BEFORE: Lucy Hale intends to make the most out of her new-found fame. "It's been fun since the Pretty Little Punchers hit the news. We're rocking the scene big time but since some so-called journallist from Nashville mistook me for Claire Holt I know I've not there in the elite just yet", a confident Lucy tells before the fight, "The gang's all here to support me and when I punch Ellen's lights out I'm sure nobody will ever confuse me with Holt again!"
Indeed, the rest of the Punchers fill the ringside seats with Ashley Benson, Shay Mitchell and Troian Bellisario all keen to see the allegedly weakest link of the team follow up on her maiden FCBA victory against Ksenia Solo back in January. A tough loss to Kendra Wilkinson derailed Hale's high-profile plans since then but sticking with the Punchers' motto, she refuses to yield the spotlight and squares off against a fellow petite brunette, Ellen Page.
Ellen skipped the entire 2012 after a run of poor results and as her undercover roller derby antics continue to surface on youtube, she suffered a tough defeat to Lea Michele on her comeback at the start of the year. "That was just me getting the feel of action again. You know, roller derby and boxing ain't really the same!", Ellen thinks she'll do much better on the second time of asking, "Hale somehow ended up with those Punchers but there's no beef in that sandwich! Their all second-tier material and it's about time I send Lucy back where she belongs. I warn everyone, it's not gonna be pretty and I hope her pals are ready to carry her off the ring cause that's a fact!"
Ellen Page wearing a red basque top, black knickers and black gloves. Long dark hair straight. Lucy Hale wearing a black basque top with white stripes, black knickers and gloves. Black hair in loose waves. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the flyweight division.
Round 1:
Hale's stablemates roar at the opening bell and Lucy jumps straight after Ellen jabbing to the body. She beats the Canadian with a quick left on the ribs and slams a right hook on the cheek before Page can connect with her own leather. Left hook on the temple and Ellen's staggered seconds into the bout. Right hand on the mouth.. oh dear.. Ellen's caught like during a first day in the gym and SHE GOES DOWN ON HER BACK in the middle of the ring as Ashley Benson climbs the top of her chair and punches the air in delight with Lucy roaring herself between the ropes in wake of a truly devastating start! Ellen's more shocked than hurt though as she scrambles back upright at six and leaps after her nemesis. Lucky punch from Lucy? Ellen thinks so as she whips a jabbing series on the stomach herself and pinches Hale on the back foot for a while, cleans out her midsection well before a left overhand catches her on the nose and staggers in the middle of the ring again. Lucy counters, peppers the high guard but doesn't slice the mitts anymore, drops low and punishes Ellen's ribcage as both petite brunettes square off in close with, trading leather on the body. It's Lucy who makes her rival moan though and she pummels through around the elbows, spikes the Canadian's ribcage and sends her to the ropes but the bell halts her charge before she can really hurt Ellen to a greater extent.
Round 2:
Page furious over the first round knockdown, comes out storming, targets her opponent's head, but Lucy's sharp on her feet, flexes the upperbody and weaves around Ellen's shots, cracks a left uppercut on the jaw AND DOWN GOES PAGE AGAIN!! Canadian brunette just got thumped sitting on the canvas with the one hand piledriver and Ashley Benson almost rips the chair out of it's fitting ringside; Punchers' entourage demands the fight to be stopped but Ellen scrambles back on her feet at seven, stunned again by another vicious shot, yet determined to make up for it. Lucy nods her head back and forth as the ref checks up with the Canadian but it's back to action and Page tries to make this a contest as she whips a series on the body, eats a left overhand though and there's little stopping Hale who just leans on her and throws a barrage of shots, skims off the gloves and bangs a shot on the forehead, follows up with a right hand on the tummy and Ellen must cover up, gets pushed back to the ropes thereafter with Hale slamming more low jabs to the midsection. Benson and Mitchell are up on their feet as Lucy traps Ellen in the corner late on and continues to rain punches on the Canadian's body and the bell finally saves Page from a real embarrassement.
Round 3:
Ellen just can't believe what just happned in the first couple of rounds but she's not gonna allow someone like Lucy Hale to bully her around the ring and she jumps into another another but the result is similar to her previous efforts. She just can't trouble the Memphis girl's guard, peppers the leather in fruitless fashion, allows Lucy to beat her for agility and footwork and more punches around the elbows enable Hale to take the upperhand again; Page begins to feel the acummulation of leather on her body, drops her arms low to protect the aching guts... and gets cleaned with another left hand on the jaw.. knees buckle, right hand on the eye spikes her from the other side... PAGE SITS DOWN ON THE CANVAS AGAIN as the Pretty Little Punchers riot near the ring... Lucy thinks she's got it now, shakes her booty in front of a truly shocked Canadian foe but Ellen pushes herself of both arms at seven, her face looking quite swollen already but the roller derby practice seemingly isn't to be undone as she pushes her ref away and leaps after Hale in suicidal fashion... Lucy's drops her arms, teases with her opponent but Ellen reaches with a left hand on the nose, cracks a follow up from the right and snaps Hale's head back. Lucy raises her arms and realizes Page somehow isn't really done and dusted yet... another leather trade-off ensues in the middle of the ring, Ellen barks in a mix of anger and determination, slices Hale on the tummy with a low jab, shrugs off a left uppercut for once as Hale got a little predictable there.. right hand over the top spins Hale's black hair around her neck as Ellen piles on more shots and almost backs her foe into the ropes however Lucy clinches her and sees out the round locked in a stalemate. She gives Page a long stare after the bell as the Canadian brunette turns away from her with a lumped up face that won't look very good in the mirror tomorrow.
Round 4:
Lucy might have dominated the opening rounds so far with a treble knockdown leaving Ellen with a mighty task ahead but she hasn't relieved her of the fighting spirit just yet and Page refuses to seek cover along the ropes; squares up to her American rival and whips another series on the body with Hale eager to answer in similar fashion. Little tactics from the Punchers' faithful and she looks to break her foe down again, gets blocked off early though and must revert to her footwork to deke around Ellen's response. Both girls remain in close range, throw single shots over the top and Page finds more rhythm and comfort as she cleans out Lucy's ribcage, avoids getting laced with the uppercut response and that's one weapon gone for Hale here before she slams a right hook on the temple and briefly stuns the Canadian brunette in the middle of the ring. More shots on the body follow and Ellen must cover up, gets finally outworked in close distance and jumps back to the ropes, Lucy pings her with an overhand right on the nose... Page's feet tangle up and she gets whacked by another uppercut that returns for Hale when needed; Ellen sags butt-in-ropes and fails to escape trouble as the Memphis girl sends in more leather on the tummy late on but the bell comes to the rescue with Page finally avoiding a knockdown yet hardly making and in-roads either.
Round 5:
Page refuses to buckle mentally despite all the punishment taken so far and she jumps into another leather trade-off that makes Troian Belisario and Shay Mitchell look at each other in disbelief. One of those wayward shot can catch Lucy clean but Ellen fails to land it initally as she reverts into slamming jabs around the elbows, leans on her rival and slides under a couple of high efforts from Hale, peppers the stomach well and makes Lucy wince in pain if not step back. Hale responds with more shots over the top, shows more speed and lightness on her feet, nails Page with a right hand on the temple, wobbles her with a left follow-up and a she takes a left hand on the ribs, fires a right overhand on the mouth that makes Ellen gasp for air and stops her in the tracks... left uppercut, almost a trademark shot for the American tonight and PAGE DROPS ONTO HER KNEES in the middle of the ring!!! Order restored for the Punchers with Shay Mitchell now leading the ringside applause but Ellen shrugs it all off one more time, wobbles herself back upright at six and wipes away sweat from her swollen face. Hale snaps her head back immediately after the command but the sudden rage tactics comes at the price of precision and a covered up Ellen hangs on her feet despite getting pushed back to the ropes. The entire Punchers camp urge Hale to finish the other brunette off but Lucy just can't land that really hard blow to send Ellen packing. The enormous beatdown takes it toll on the Canadian girl though as she slumps in visible pain onto her stool during the interval and one might wonder if the accumulation of punishment will finally end this contest rather than a single punch. Hale still looks as good physically as anyone thru five which is somewhat surprising.
Round 6:
Again no place for Ellen to hide so she just goes after Lucy, but she's much slower on her feet this time and after taking a couple of early hooks on the face, she realizes it's time to seek some cover and looks to jump away into safety. Hale has other ideas though, keeps Ellen dancing on her toes with single striking over the top and the fatigue soon kicks in for the Canadian girl as she gets trapped with an overhand left on the cheek and wobbles heavily in the middle of the ring. She bends down and covers up but Lucy's intensity raises up a notch as she splits her mitts and clubs a right hand on the jaw, just skimmed off a little but still enough to force Ellen back; another left hand over the top nails the aching Canadian on the nose and she yelps for pain. Lucy spikes her with a right hand on the cheek again, useless guard falls apart for Page and Lucy sends a cross-hooking combo on the nose that firmly pins her foe on the ropes. Arms are slow to react for Ellen and she gets caught with more hooks on the face, now just a relentless barrage with no resistance whatsoever and Lucy cracks more hooks on the face and Ellen's eyes are on the verge of going into the orbit; she drops her arms and sags on the ropes in spasms of defeat as ref finally pulls off Hale off her and escorts back to the corner... TKO R6 Lucy Hale in ultra-destructive fashion!!!
AFTER: Pretty Little Punchers pour onto the ring and embrace their weakest link who didn't look all that weak tonight as she romped over Ellen Page in one-sided and merciless fashion. Troian Bellisario seems to be the one surprised the most by Lucy's performance as Ashley and Shay indicate they've won an internal bet on the final result. Hale relieved and joyful at the same time, shrugs off Kendra Wilkinson's demons and enjoys probably the best night of her career! On the other hand Ellen Page was battered into a pulp and is left sitting on her stool and staring at the canvas in demoralized fashion after yet another tough loss on her resume.
Many still claim Punchers are just a one-season wonder but if they keep scoring results like this, they can really spoil some odds. Few months back Hale was regarded as the second coming of Sarah Michelle Gellar but with two wins to her name this year already, there will be more girls apart from Ellen Page hurting in the months to come. And perhaps nobody will confuse her with Claire Holt anymore!
Final result: Lucy Hale def. Ellen Page TKO6.
